    Toxins
If a podcast built on “science-based” approaches mentions “toxins,” it’s an immediate unsubscribe. How can I believe anything else said? :(

    Such a valuable resource
I’ve never written a review for a podcast before but I really love this one!!! The biggest reason is after listening to the episode with Tara (autism little learners) and she gave so many clear, actionable tips and tricks. I like concrete examples and she delivered. Plus she has amazing FREE (and paid) resources on her website. But kudos to the hosts for putting together such a helpful podcast!!

    Beyond Helpful!
I am very new to this SPD journey and am needing help fast to help my daughter as I just discovered what is going on with her. I love this podcast so much because you keep each episode just the right length, the free resources I just discovered are SO AMAZING & helpful-just what I need at this time. You are both inviting, educated, kind, and pleasing to listen to and as an overwhelmed mom not knowing where to begin I thank you from bottom of heart for this podcast and have and will be sharing with others. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to help and understand my kiddo right here and now before trying to get evaluated. Thank you ladies!!!

    Life changing
Finding Rachel and Jessica changed the way I see the world and with that how I raise my sons, and how I can help and connect with my daughter (8) diagnosed with SPD. I can never take off the sensory goggles 🙌🏼.

Wish I would have found sooner
I am learning so much about why my 4 year old does things. I wish I would have found this sooner as it has helped me understand why certain things scare him. Now I can be a better mom and help him with their tools and ideas.

    Love!!
I absolutely love your podcast! I am a COTA/L in North Carolina. I’ve been a working practitioner for twenty years with experience in the school system, clinic based, and home based pediatrics. Episode two is what I send to all my parents, caregivers, and teachers when I am offering education. Side note: feeding and oral motor therapy are my absolute favorite! My son was born with a cleft lip and palate so I’ve had a lot of growth as a practitioner and a special needs parent. Keep doing a fantastic job of educating and supporting parents and OTs!!!

    Sensory sensitivities all around
Hi there! I have just started learning about all of the sensory systems and preferences, inputs, diets, Etcs within the past two years when we adopted two boys, one with autism, one with adhd and many sensory preferences. I had NO idea that a lot of the parenting overwhelm and irritability I was having myself was the result of sensory overload, particularly auditory. I usually don’t realize I’m becoming overwhelmed until I’m snapping and have no idea how to cope so thank you so much for the suggestions!!! This will definitely improve my evenings with my kids.

Hi I just want to say thank you for all that you are doing for the OT community. I am just starting my journey in the MOT program at USAH. I am learning a lot from your podcast. Thank you for the great attitude is very inspirational. Sincerely, Monique Zamora

I am a daycare owner and I came across this podcast in search of fine motor work. I used these 2 podcasts to help my staff understand the importance of fine motor in my center. I really enjoy this podcast and I look forward to listening to more episodes.

    So much good information
As a mother to a sensory kiddo and a PTA trying to learn everything I can to help my son and inform other parents in my community, I can’t say enough how grateful I am to have found this podcast. I have learned more in the past month listening to these two than we ever learned in my son’s time spent in OT and my own googling. Not only is the podcast great, Rachel and Jessica provide so many other educational materials. They also are wonderful with answering questions you have through email or Instagram! Definitely recommend giving them a listen and I can’t wait to make my way through all of the podcasts.

Leave the nutrition talk to the Registered Dietitians
From one clinician to another, please do not practice outside the scope of your education, expertise and training by giving out incorrect nutrition advice when neither of you are registered dietitians (which is the correct term for us by the way...not “nutritionist” or “nutrition counselor” as you say repeatedly in your latest podcast episode). Hearing you say that foods are good and bad, or healthy and unhealthy is extremely toxic and does not promote healthy relationships with food which most dietitians would be quick to point out to you had you consulted any before your podcast. Same goes for hiding vegetables in foods and so many other points you brought up - just no. Stay in your lane and leave the nutrition talk to the RDs as your advice is seriously misinformed. Feeding Littles is a great example of how OTs and RDs can work together collaboratively but note that both parties defer to one another when appropriate and don’t overestimate their knowledge (look up the Dunner Kruger effect on why it’s dangerous to think you know more than you do...).

    Thank you
My child hasn’t been diagnosed but I know my LO has sensory troubles. We’ve attempted getting answers from the pediatrician but it hasn’t gone well. The tips and information in this podcast has been wonderful. Thank you. Just implementing little things has helped and just understanding better how my child is feeling is a game changer. Thank you!

Excellent for families with Sensory Kids
These gals are excellent. We recently discovered sensory issues in our kiddo, this podcast has helped us so much in understanding how to help! We have even gotten our OT, the Schools, Etc listening! Just incredible!

    Ableism at its best!
I really feel as though this podcast could have been an incredible resource. However, as many therapists and clinicians do, they’ve centered a disability narrative focused on the experiences of people disability-adjacent. Imagine if they had an Autistic cohost (I’m Autistic and have been in the disability field for over a decade- we exist!) who could share firsthand knowledge and some of the barriers and solutions we’ve navigated. Imagine if they didn’t continually say how hard it is to be a family member of someone with sensory processing difficulties (if it’s hard for you as a family member, imagine how hard it is to be that child, sister, brother, etc. - we’re experiencing it FIRSTHAND). They might also stop using ableist language like “crazy.” Well-intentioned, as most clinicians are, but wildly misinformed and off-base.

    A Perfect Balance
Thank you for putting this show together! I am an elementary SPED teacher and it is one thing to know about SPD in the classroom world, but another to walk through it with your own child. I listened to one episode and fell in love! We’ve had a rough year with our oldest as we transition him from a birth-3 program to preschool. He is a hard-core sensory craving kiddo and it isn’t uncommon for him to wear out multiple (like 4-5) adults and adolescents per day keeping up with him. Your podcast presents ideas, strategies, information, and relatable stories in a way that is understandable on BOTH a professional level and parental level - something I know is challenging to a achieve. I’ve learned valuable vocabulary to express what I am seeing in my little popcorn kernel and ways to help understand and meet his specific needs. Well done, ladies. Thank you!

    So helpful!

    Amazing!
Thank you SO MUCH for this! My son is 3 and we’re in the process of evaluations for school to get him set up for success! This podcast and the website have been so helpful in covering a wide range of topics, from IEPs, OT to strategies for helping my kiddo thrive! The episode length is perfect - not too overwhelming, but not so short that I have more questions than when I started. Keep it up!

    My new favorite podcast!
As a mother of a 4.5 year old who has been in OT the past 10 months I’m loving this podcast. We’ve seen huge successes and this podcast brings up things for me to ask our OT and or to implement with my infant.

    Love!
Such a great resource! I love the energy and passion Rachel and Jessica have. I listen most days on my commute to work and as an OT, it inspires me/gets me excited to treat kiddos. They explore so many important topics and discuss them in a way that is easy to understand for both parents and therapists. The specific treatment ideas they give are also so helpful for implementing into practice right away!

    Excellent Resource
This podcast makes me feel like I’m not alone as a parent of a highly sensitive kiddo with sensory issues. I’ve felt alone for awhile thinking “am I the only one parenting a child like this?” And Rachel and Jessica let me know that I’m not the only one. This has been a great podcast to listen to.

Love it and want first 15 :)
I just started listening after a recommendation from our OT, and I love it! This background information is so needed to reiterate what we are learning in OT about my child’s particular sensory issues. I would also like to hear episodes 1-15! Did you start with episode 16?
  • HH REV II
    Season 1 Episode 80
Excellent! I am an OT who works with a wide age range, in a sensory based clinic. (Turns out full-grown adults can have sensory issues too and they can create all sorts of stress and anxiety for them. And no one else seems to know how to help them.) The content in the episode was excellent and would be something I would recommend to my clients as an overview of so many topics. Side-note: I appreciated the way you allowed him ample time to speak and explain with minimal interruptions. (Sometimes I am distracted by some of your side-comments, exclamatory interjections i.e. “awesome!”, “that’s so great!” etc, and laughing at your own side-comments. Apologies if that was too blunt but thought you might want to know.)

Episodes 1-15 —> MIA ! Please bring them back

    Mixed Reviews
Although the ladies hosting this podcast seem knowledgeable in their field, there is a lot of immature chit chat back and forth, as well as repetitive phrases like “It’s tough”, “This one is tricky”, “It’s crazy”, “this is a good one”, “what’s the word” etc. They laugh at things that are NOT funny, which is quite offensive to parents with kids who struggle with various OT issues. There also seems to be no script, so often times it’s pretty obvious that they are just “winging it”. So although I found some of the tips/information helpful, I can’t say it was worth the aggravation of listening to these two. Almost seems like two women who got OT degrees, but can’t really relate to being a parent and going through tough times with a child who has OT problems.
