Ali974Mitrice’s motherWhen Mitrice was at the police station and her mom was called, why did the mom say stupid things - but instead sounded concerned and drove to pick up her daughter? Why isn’t she held accountable for not doing that?! Her daughter could still be alive if she bothered.

Peace love and KrisSeason 1I’m on the 4th episode and I am feeling like these girls went on in the first 3 episodes about how evil Chris is and how he’d knock them out without a second thought if they came at him wrong, etc. Then they chat with him and while I’m glad they are being true to the story, they do a 180 on how sincere and unlikely he is to be involved with zero buffering or apologetic sentiments. That makes me think they are getting emotionally involved like they’re dealing with hs drama and chatting about the rumors to the most extreme ends (which is how I think I’d probably be if I’m honest) unlike real investigators would. However, that does track with the grass roots start of this podcast. So I’m happy to keep listening- especially if they solve it! Just need to be more level headed when it comes to people’s public reputations, especially if broadcasting to a huge audience.

Alba VardenNew Murder Lines eps are weakMiss the old H&G where they focused on one case.

Rigged spin wheelHost thinks she’s great anywayTerrible! If you listen to podcasts for the actual content don’t bother. 5 star reviews are only from individuals trying to fill dead air.
-
ChadrlBackground musicGreat podcast, but for people listening at work on headphones, the bass in the background music drowns out the dialogue...my only complaint...great job

LLR725Love this and all Payne Lindsey podcastsI listen to and really like a lot of podcasts. But, once I listened to Culpable, I started almost only listening to Payne Lindsey’s podcasts. Great work; thank you to Payne and his grandmother. Hope to keep hearing her voice too!

TheLarkGalSo odd.I want to like this show… the subjects are great it’s well written, but I just can’t with the host. I just can’t do it, her voice, the cadence, her odd elocution is just awful. Just not able to listen without rolling my eyes.
-
vine crime fanWell doneLove her voice and thorough investigation ... Would listen to another by this crew !! It’s important to research these cases so few have heard about and open up the conversation about the unknown ...

textim6771👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻I’m a carpenter and listen to podcasts all the time. Definitely love true crime. Needed something new and good and got it!! Glad they caught that bastard and no doubt y’all kept the case alive and ongoing! Great job and great show! Thanks!

Samantha WynnReporting is okI listen of the ads!
-
andjokuGreat podcast but… ADS!!!This podcast is fantastic. The only issue is the ridiculous amount of advertising (10 or more ads per episode) which breaks the storyline up. This makes the story harder to follow and gets aggravating at times.

XXIVK MagicBiased Diary of Host's Unfounded OpinionsThe number of times the host says "I think..." in a single episode is a perfectly clear indicator of the level of bias and lack of critical thinking possessed by the host. She clearly cozies up to law enforcement and seems intimidated by them. Have yet to hear any original, educated, or intellectual theories or questions from the host. Its quite sad, too because the victim's family holds such hope that a podcast will help but with the lack of critical or independent thinking skills this host has, that probably won't happen.

KC-OdessaFamilies ScornesCatherine and her ilk harass the families of the dead. If these family members will not go along with every decision they choose to make they turn their legions of true crime ghoulish fans upon them. And when a different perpetrator is determined to be the culprit, Catherine and her friends do not admit they were wrong. They intimidate that innocent people are still implicated. Boo!

Bety jun HarperThe ads tho… jeezGood show but the ads were beyond irritating. Not only the amount of, but the Content of .I will not listen to any of the podcast that were being pushed in those ads. I am not sure I can keep listen to this one even tho I enjoyed it.

Kristab2Outstanding!!Outstanding podcast!!

Jersey Girl in VermontHeartbreakingExcellent host, with a great podcasters voice. These stories are breaking my heart. So much evil in this world…. But that said, I’ll keep listening because this podcast is very good.
-
ranby rudeOopsShe's a better podcast host than Pi let's say that. Real killer was reaching out to her and she can't see past Casey. Lol 😂 ooooops Why would Casey let the police just snoop around ??
-
TS/FLMomLove the “feel” of Season 1 and 3 D approachI love the feel of Season 1. It made me feel like I was right there with Catherine doing the investigation and interviews. She asks the questions and thinks about the logical issues that make you scratch your head, and she digs further. She also adds info about the culture of the area, events of that time, or people involved important to an investigation. Yes, the many, many ads are annoying - do yourself a favor and just subscribe.
-
mlbsclLove Catherine’s JournalismCatherine is a great host with a lot of empathy on her cases. 🌟🌟🌟🌟
-
cantthinkofanythingcleverGreat but too many adsLove the content, but the amount of ads is overwhelming.
-
jisatxWHAT THE H*LL AM I LISTENING TO?!I just listened to three episodes and I am baffled by this show. Every episode that I listen to has zero resolution, zero answers. So what is the point???!
-
puentenycSo many adsDon’t waste your time.
-
photofy reviewStellar investigation skillsCatherine is a wonderful investigator. She leaves no stone unturned. Her podcasts are thorough and precise. 10/10
-
ReihnRuined by adsGreat show great journalism absolutely ruined by the minutes of ads in the beginning and end and every five minutes in between. Yeah it’s good but not irreplaceable and definitely not worth the ads. Unfollowed
-
JillianrcMusicI like how Catherine delivers the cases. I don’t like the music while she’s talking. It’s distracting and terrible music. Maybe try one without it.
-
M’elleTalented hostCatherine Townsend is a solid host, researches her stories well, discovers unfollowed leads and pulls in all sides to find truth.
-
kikianne666Something’s OffToo much wondering and conjecture. Facts and not personal opinions might be more helpful. Not really interested in what the host “thinks” happened. Also the ads killed me. They are more than half the show. Byeeee
-
Luna031221Excellent podcastCatherine is a thoughtful and insightful journalist. She genuinely cares about the families whose stories she tells. 5 starts all the way!
-
Madscientist_13Great podcast!Love her! This was a solid suggestion (gasp!!!) based on my previous listens to other similar material and I love it! I am ALWAYS down to hear another southern woman killing it with excellent reporting.
-
PBandsmokeyAudio problemsMight be good but audio is HORRIBLE
-
mdm_m3One of my favorite podcasts!Love this podcast! Katherine Townsend is amazing to listen to .. not sure what the comment about the podcast is supposed to mean .. I’m from NC and my in-laws are all in AR, so maybe that’s why I don’t hear one! With my husband being from AR, we really enjoy the podcast, focusing on the cold cases from AR. Thank you for all the hard work you do!
-
Rob in KC, MOLove it but, the adds are a bit out of hand!I love this show and always have but, these adds are half the show. It’s already a short episode, let’s not have 12min of adds as well!
-
Jack_cloverExcellent!Katherine Townsend and crew do an excellent job bringing these stories to light. I listen to a ton of podcasts because I travel so much. This was definitely one I couldn’t get enough of! Rebecca is smiling down on you, Katherine. Keep going. I, like you, still believe there is no way this was done solo.
-
Mor25!SpeculationToo much speculation. I listened to season 1, where they targeted all their suspicion onto the friends. Even when the murderer was discovered and confessed… the host continued with “well… maybe friend was still involved?” There was way too much personal opinion shared in this podcast, instead of focusing on facts.
-
bobetneyTruth SeekerBecause uncovering the truth is the whole mission. I have a deep appreciation for a real go-getter, truth-seeker, truth-speaker, a willing spirit who will connect missing dots. At least someone is trying to help us fill in the blanks. Thank you. I am a long time fan! Side note-strange that Jarrod, Clea, & Melissa haven’t been seen since very same year-1994.
-
chu996c4TerribleThe background “music” sounds like someone who can’t play a violin. Not only is it a piercing sound, it makes it hard to listen and follow this podcast.
-
Jrod141UgggghhhhhhhI just unsubscribed. Wayyyyyy too many ads! Frustrating.
-
Sparkly's #1 fanFacts and FearlessCatherine Townsend and her team dig for the facts, and don’t stop until all stones are turned. I love her southern accent and fearlessness. Catherine is a brave, intelligent, and fierce podcaster that also knows how to tell the story and highlights the lives of the victims and their families. One of my favorite true crime podcasts. Go Catherine!
-
Bobcast GoldthwaitbiasedOne of my favorite series. Catherine is super respectful and thoughtful. Her accent does nothing but tell me she’s Arkansas tough, even if she doesn’t live there anymore. Besides, that’s a pointless criticism. Clear, concise, and interesting.
-
AngryGirlmommaSo good!!I love this podcast so much! I love your accent so ignore these other folks! 😉
-
Princess1008Good podcast but…Podcast is great…accent is hard for me to get past though
-
smp0530Binge-worthyThis podcast is binge-worthy! Every episode keeps you wanting more. I’ve seen other comments about too many ads, but honestly it hasn’t bothered me because I just skip through it. You can’t expect a podcast crew to do all the work for free, so ads come with the territory. No big deal! The host, Catherine Townsend, is incredible at what she does. She’s not an amateur true crime enthusiast that decided to start a podcast, but a writer, author and licensed Private Investigator. You’re getting so much more than storytelling, but rather true investigation done by Catherine herself. Plus, she has such a good podcast voice and I love her accent! I highly recommend this podcast for all true crime enthusiasts!!
-
SweeteaaaWaste of time honestlyThere are much better true crime podcasts out there. The investigator, Catherine, can be painful at times to listen to though she means well. It drags the listener on and tries to trick the listener into believing some big was discovered when it’s not. Full seasons covering a case just to have no answers. Catherine also adds her own emotions and theories in when interviewing folks instead of listening then reporting. Also, she pronounces the title as “Hellen Gone” lol which is cringe!
-
jwildh2oLove itI’m waiting for a new season! Been a fan of both your podcasts. This is my favorite. Let’s hear a new case!
-
Claire78854Based on season 1I do agree with the reviews mentioning the excessive amounts of ads which is why I’m leaving 4 stars instead of 5. I will say I think it’s so amazing that a podcast brought the real killer out of hiding and onto the Facebook group! I think it’s a testament to how powerful media and podcasts can be. There are some reviews frustrated that the case wasn’t solved within the 8 episodes of the pod and felt it was for morning, but I feel like those people are glossing over the fact that the killer was not on police radar at all. If the Facebook group the people involved in this podcast started didn’t exist this murderer would have still been free
-
kirasabra11True crime junkie podcast newbieI absolutely love this one, I started listening to podcasts very recently, and started with some podcasts that a friend recommended. This was the first one I started listening to by my own finding that I really enjoy. Some crime podcasts are booooring and slow this one is far from that! Great personalities and keeps you wanting more ! PS if your tired of ads fast forward lol
-
BWEsqIt’s okThe writing and reporting is really good, however Catherine has a halting way of narrating at unnatural breaks in sentences that sometimes causes confusion. If she would read naturally instead of as a short segment reporter, this series would be much easier to listen to and 100% better!
-
Jessmorgan03Solid podcastCatherine is a great storyteller. Very thorough and spends a lot of time telling us the victim’s story which is how I think it should be. The other reviews complaining about no progress or updates are silly. She’s a podcaster, not a detective. If she can shed light on the case and stir up some tips, great but she shouldn’t be expected to solve a decades old murder in 10 episodes. This isn’t TV. Also the people complaining about ads, you can easily skip ahead. I’ve listened to all of the seasons and have appreciated the way she’s approached each story.
