    I Cannot Believe It’s Back! 📖🕯️
Thank you, thank you for returning with a new season! I’m so thrilled to see that the story continues, when I had basically given up all hope. Voice actors, sound scape, and writing are all still stellar, nuanced, and brilliant, as I have come to expect. Superb!

    Outstanding
I just finished binging all four series and they are phenomenal. Great sound design, superb voice acting and positively enthralling storytelling.

    Just listened to season 1
I loved it. It’s very compelling, well acted, and had me wanting more. Also, good on the creepy meter.

    Lovecraft Investigations Review
My favorite of the four seasons is the Charles Dexter Ward one. There are a lot of things to like about it. The mystery is compelling, the characters are great, and the way that the story is modernized is quite interesting as well. I like how the writers add new things that modern audiences would find more frightening. I loved the creepy cassette interviews with young Charles Dexter Ward. A very spooky and compelling listen. The second and third seasons are still good, but not quite as good. I don’t really like the fact that all of the seasons are connected and there’s one big epic story going on. I think it would have benefited the series better as a whole if each season was a standalone story. However, we get back on track in series four. Sure, the episodes are shorter, but they still have the same amount of creepiness. There are some great twists and turns, and great drama among the characters, exploring the consequences of what happened at the end of season three, which I will not spoil here. There is also some really interesting social commentary. The final episode, however, leaves more questions than answers. I am hoping for a new season!

    Awesome show
I struggled to find any podcasts that grabbed me and were not super cheesy or terribly acted. This is the one. Fantastic stuff guys please keep it coming

    Started off strong…
I was intrigued by the premise of this show (and also initially thought it would be directly related to Lovecraft’s work) and it started off pretty well. But frankly after the second season, it ventures into something else entirely; too complicated to follow and far too many characters. The mix with the supernatural and science fiction is usually a tricky area to navigate. Unfortunately it couldn’t hold my interest…

    What a great series
This has been one of the most enjoyable audio dramas I have ever listened to. I binged it all in a week. Thanks so much for bringing us this, and hope to see more in the future!

    Love!
I just stumbled across this podcast and I’m enjoying the heck out of it. Very well done and very creepy. I’m having trouble working because I want to get back to it.

    SO THRILLED!
I am ridiculously, deliriously happy that this podcast is back! I’ve listened to the past 3 seasons over and over again and thought it was all over. Imagine my surprise when I saw that it’s back with a new season! Very well acted, written, and sound design. A masterpiece! Update: after listening to the 4th season, I have to say I was disappointed. The storyline was….not good. It wasn’t engaging and a bit boring. Which pains me to say as the previous 3 seasons are totally playable multiple times. The biggest mystery, which was the missing host) was solved in episode 1 and then he just decides to follow some random lead for no reason? I really love this podcast, but it was a miss for me on this last season.

    Still excellent.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this audio drama, and the fourth series is no exception. However, I feel like most of series four is about the future and transitioning into a different format. Having said that: people are weird. The “politics” that I’m seeing people complain about in the reviews is “Fascism is bad.” Guys… I don’t know how to tell you this but fascism *is* bad. Series four is a worthwhile exploration of the “madness” in Lovecraft’s fiction through the lens of modernity. Is there a greater madness than fascism and empathizing with fascists? Series four says there isn’t, and I personally agree. Also, series four takes the incredibly interesting approach of fully incorporating another story of the Pleasant Green canon—Bad Memories. A stand-alone that I highly recommend. But series four does not get a free pass despite its powerful themes and cool references. It is admittedly the weakest narratively. There are a couple of “and suddenly this happened” moments that rely on deus ex machina rather than the clever cause and effect storytelling of the last three series. Series four is also much shorter in episode lengths, so the narrative takes that much longer to latch onto the listener. Besides those faults, which are only faults in comparison to previous three series, series four is still a solid entry that I have been glad to listen to over and over. The unique way the team has designed the sound, using real-life environments to create the appropriate ambience, makes this audio drama sound better than practically anything else out there. The Lovecraft Investigations is the premiere immersive audio experience. It was when it first debuted, and it still is now. Unless you’re a fascist, I guess… Then you might want to try something else. Oo

    Was great.
The first three seasons were fantastic. The forth season is poorly written, hyper political trash.

    Love all things HP Lovecraft
This is very well done. A great spin on the classic Lovecraft tales. I have enjoyed every minute.

    Newest season a disappointment
I have been an added follower. This shows since the first season. The horror, the style, and the quality were all top-notch. this newest season, however, was a massive change to put it. Simply, this was less of a horror show and more a platform for the creators to discuss their own political views. If there are new seasons, I truly hope they stop this and return to telling Lovecraft horror stories.

Love it, better than Cats, listening to it against n and again and again and
    Love it. Please more seasons!

    Season 4 - a huge disappointment
While it was nice to hear from our protagonists again, the producer must have let the unpaid intern write Season 4. It’s terrible and astonishingly amateurish, especially compared to the first couple of fantastic seasons.

    Absolutely Amazing!
I love this show! I have listened from episode 1 and as soon as I finished that one episode I was hooked. I love the Cthulhu Mythos and I have read most of the stories that I could find. This modern Podcaster style is awesome, it fits well and have a flavor that leaves that lingers and keeps you questioning what you heard and where it could lead. Yes some of the lines of investigation are somewhat obvious, however there are some twists and turns that actually had me almost shout “What in in the actual - happened?!” Please keep it up!

I dedicate the song & photomontage “Hey There Cthulhu” (found on your local cultists’ radio station) to the creators of this necromantic bit of brilliancy.

    OMG you’re backkkk!!!!
You’re finally back. I’ve been waiting for 2 years and checking blogs and now you’re finally back. 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹Thank you — This was incredible! Seriously this was such a great podcast. Brilliant sound production and sound design, great suspense, great voice acting. Great storyline. Season 3 went a little bit out there but I still appreciated. I love the format of a podcast within a podcast and the cast are awesome. Highly recommend this podcast

    It’s back!!!
I listened to the show a year and a half ago and expected that it would never return. I’m so happy it came back for a fourth season and it was a really exciting and well made production :) I hope they come back for a fifth!!

    Great concept, repetitive execution
The idea of adapting Lovecraft’s works as a modern day investigative podcast is inspired. The first season is a good execution of the concept, but by the time you get to seasons three and four the storytelling gets very, very repetitive. It’s clear that the creative team has a limited narrative toolbox. It’s the same structure every episode: An interview offers a very detailed and very convenient exposition dump, followed by the journalists recapping and summarizing what we just learned/already know. At times it feels less like a narrative podcast and more like people reading from a textbook. The voice acting is good, although Kennedy always feels like she’s reading off the page with some rather stiff and forced intonation. This tends to make the interpersonal relationships between the leads feel flat. Season 4 also attempts to break the world record for most utterances of the word “fascism.” It’s every other word. We get it.

    Worth the wait
This podcast will scratch all the itches that you have regarding her audio dramas, sci fi audio dramas, and just plain entertaining podcasst. The show is perhaps one of the best audio dramas released in the past five years or so. The characters are flesh out and the voice acting is amazing.

    You’re back!!!
Epic! This is awesome! I love this podcast. I was hooked right away. It builds into a “can’t tear myself away” podcast! They have great storyline, top-notch production, and the actors really own their roles. Can’t wait to dive more into Season 4!!!

    A Gift from the BBC
A fantastic listen. The production value is unparalleled, the story full of twist and turns, and there's no shortage of supernatural thrills-not to mention all the acting talent on display. I've been listening since season one, and more than once during San Francisco's pandemic lockdown I'd start up episode one and let the entire story play, picking up on clues, names, and even sounds I'd missed. The story really does fill out the more you listen. Thrilled to dive into the newest installment.

    Loved it!
Way deeper and more nuanced than most other mystery or supernatural podcasts out there, I love it! Definitely worth the investment of time and attention to see how everything connects.
  • Anom652147
    Excellent!
What begins as an obscure murder and disappearance mystery deepens into the occult and large scale dangers that existed since time immemorial… if you believe some legends. The narrators here are always skeptical, and realistically so, and come to terms with their findings in the natural pace as the listener does. So there is a sense of intelligent unfolding that still allows for uncertainty. Not answering questions gives the story a more epic feel. I appreciate how some mysteries are never quite laid to rest, which gives space for development and Easter eggs throughout the series and into the next season, whenever it arrives!

    Quelle surprise
So much fun. Well plotted, certainly. Brilliant voice acting all around but naturally the exquisite Nicola Walker steals the show…without question the most fantastic experience I’ve had with a podcast.
  • Pharmg1rl
    Fantastic!
Absolutely fabulous! I want more! Please say that more episodes are in the works. There’s so much more good material left.

    Amazing podcast!
I love the creepiness of this story! Please make more!! However, if you have Misophonia, this show is NOT for you, there is a lot of saliva swallowing that is noticeable that triggered me.
  • Eat The Pencil Already
    Eerily good.
I’m only giving it 4 stars because at the time I’m writing this there’s only 3 seasons/series and I’m eager for more. A genius adaptation of some of the works of HP Lovecraft into a true crime style. The atmosphere and editing has left me on the edge of my seat on more than one occasion and it took every ounce of self control NOT to just binge the final season/series and actually get some sleep after I finished season/series 2. IF this continues into more seasons/series… The Statement of Randolph Carter or Pickman’s Model would be good places to pick up from… Juuuust saying.
  • CKMCMC
    Mostly Excellent
Really great podcast! But it’s really hard to listen to Dr. Peck…so much gloopy mouth sounds. Really hard to listen to, please address this in your recording or your mixing.
  • freakazoid4807
    Hard to follow
Excellent story telling and acting. Easily in my top 3 favorite audio dramas ever. I just wish I could find another one that’s as good as this one
  • ItsEmilyTime.
    Top-notch spooky fiction
I haven’t found a podcast to match this one for its detail, twistiness, and storytelling. I love the “hosts” and feel invested in their fates. They’ve adapted these stories in such interesting and modern ways. I hope they make more!!!
  • NapoleonIV
    Please make more
Please make more!! Surely Lovecraft produced enough material for more than three series!
  • Herin
    Boring acting, bad awkward accents
They could’ve told the story in half amount of the episodes. Bad acting and terrible American accents. Most interviews are unbearably long winded. Overrated show.

    Radio Theatre Of the Mind
I was referred to this show from the Glass Cannon Network. The guy said at one point he screamed in his car while listening to the series. I have gasped and jumped several times so I don’t know where it happened for him. The show is very professionally done and is a delight to listen to despite my occasional jumping or screaming. I love this kind of radio theatre and hope more is done in the future. I highly recommend using headphones while listening to the series. It will help immerse you into the story and enhance the effects. Hehehe

Terrific Lovecraft Adaptation / Original Story
This was an excellent series, with excellent writing, voice-acting, production, editing, etc. As of this review, the show has three complete series, and I really hope that there is a fourth. The show does an excellent job of intertwining different H.P. Lovecraft stories... not just slapping names together, but really using the stories and combining them together. It also makes excellent use of folklore and real history, and adapts the stories into modern day. This podcast is a perfect example of respecting existing works while also building upon them to create something new, and is a worthwhile binge for any Lovecraft fan.
