    Please speak like an adult
Martine; please stop saying “like” so many times. It’s all I hear and I’ve taken to skipping your segments in favor of other hosts/podcasts.

Ads from the American Petroleum Institute in year of our lord 2024??
I assume that this program doesn’t run ads for alcohol or cigarettes or online casinos out of the knowledge that these things are harmful to society. Yet you’re running ads from the group lobbying for this country to keep fracking till the earth gives out and we all die in a climate fire? It’s insanity.

    Pathetic
Most of the guests and the host are extremely ignorants about issues they want to cover

Music super annoying and not appropriate to the serious content
The content is good but the music is loud and silly and literally sounds like it’s for a cartoon or Pink Panther or something. Very distracting.

    Viral fairy tale
Martine’s skepticism and constant devil’s advocate stance says more about her than abt a young woman who tried to do something good and discovered good intentions aren’t enough- Sinai is learning and growing maybe Martine could take a page from that book-

    thank you
thank you for the great reporting on the crises in Haiti and Gaza/ the mideast. And a big (belated) welcome back to Martine!

...plan for a Palestinian Security Force: deep and relevant reporting.
This was a topic I haven't read or heard much about. The guest reporter had done niche and good work BUT there never ending 'umms' and 'aahs', even in the middle of a phrase. These were distracting and not usual standard. I'd appreciate hearing more from her if she could present more professionally.

Horse race election coverage is a disservice to the electorate
PLEASE report on the candidates’ policies instead of making predictions based on polling. We, the public, need to know the facts, not conjecture!

Please, Martin…lose the “like,” “you know,” “so?” Jargon is junk.

“Nobody real watches the state of the union”
I am a real citizen who watches, as do many others, and this comment was made by the host in the 3/6 podcast about Biden in the White House. We are in this situation because people aren’t being treated as “real.” Our problems aren’t being seriously. The genocide isn’t taken seriously. It’s so offensive and pretentious to assume citizens are all uninformed, uncaring, ignoramus. That’s how we ended up with T***p.

    Sad
A sad, misinformed bunch of hosts. They don’t even know basics of the law.

    Alibaba - Really?
Won’t be listening again unless you get another sponsor. I can’t believe you are doing so badly that you need to air their crappy ad. As a WaPo online newspaper subscriber, this really bums me out.

Please be objective and present facts from both sides!
Stop calling this enormous problem at our border, migration or immigration, it’s illegals, breaking the law, breaking into our country. Some of these people are hard-working and families seeking a better life, and that’s great, but the criminals and gangs and cartels and drugs that are coming in because of lack of enforcement are preventing these innocent families, and skilled workers that we need from legally entering our country, and being a part of America. American workers didn’t quit their jobs on purpose. Draconian leftist lockdown laws caused many of our small businesses and family owned businesses to shut down. Saying these illegal immigrants are filling a necessary role is misleading, because economy and job market was cruising before Covid, and the manufactured hype and scare tactics, and shut downs that were forced upon us. I would appreciate less reporting upon opinions and feelings, and more reporting based on facts and solutions. I only listen to this podcast to try, and somehow understand how the other part of the country is allowing this to happen to our amazing nation. I’ve honestly come to the conclusion that media and rich elites who don’t have any skin in the game are forcing their feelings in opinions on the entire nation. Any hard-working American knows that this is a bad approach, and we are going to see the devastating ramifications of unvested illegal migration for decades to come. Please just think about it.

Sometimes you get the subscriber edition, sometimes not.
I like the podcast, but I never know when I’m going to get the ad-free version. I’m a subscriber, so ad-free is a nice bonus. I wish it was consistent.

    One of my go-to Podcasts
Post Reports is a fantastic podcast for news stories that helps you understand what is going on in the world. The episodes are never too long, yet edited with a lot of clarity and significant reporting to help you be informed. I’ve laugh, cried and pondered through the years of listening to this and it’s truly something I value. The hosts are fantastic and their personalities make me feel like I’m listening to a friend. Thank you for making this great podcast, Washington Post!

Good podcast. Lots of work to do…
Sometimes it’s great, sometimes the titles are more hysterical and stories are less informative. Sometimes stories are way too emotional and not informative at all. Powers is a really, really great host. She a solid reporter, broadcaster and journalist. Also very human. As far as the selection of stories, they can be overwhelmingly repetitive: covid, gun rights, abortion, Ukraine; Covid again, gun rights again, abortion again, Ukraine again; wash, rinse, repeat… I get it, these topics are incredibly important, but the stories are told overrrr, and overrrrr again. Guest hosts can be a hit or a miss. Not all, but most of the coverage discussing the Israeli-Hamas war is missing a LOT. While Israel warrants criticism for large civilian casualties, please involve Hamas in the story. Very little discussion that Hamas is still firing rockets at Israel, Hamas still has hostage, Hamas is still embedding itself within civilians and political organizations . Hams is still saying, right now, they would commit another October 7 all over again .The rise of anti-Semitism is also rampant, with the word “Jewish” being hidden behind the word “Zionist“. Playing a soft, sad keyboard, when criticizing Israel, without mentioning Hamas, or their continued use of weaponry is poor journalism. This slants the narrative by failing to discuss what Hamas is, and how they view Israel… how about a story on Hamas constitution?

    Biased reporting
It’s sad how much the Washington Post reporting has declined. I’ve been a subscriber for several years. Instead of providing unbiased reporting, the WP has embraced a far-left ideological viewpoint with which they use to report on todays events.

UN court ruling on Gaza Genocide
Martin - I’ve noted that you mentioned how they (Jews) be charged for genocide? - Martin hope you understand the history of occupation? Palestine has been occupied by Jews Zionist settlers how come you totally ignored the fact that Palestinians people are living under occupation? Please stop the bias against Palestinians. This conflict has exposed the truth of Apartheid Israel oppression and violence against Palestinians!

Great show on ultra processed foods
This really gave me an understanding of what processed vs ultra processed foods are and what to look for in easy to understand language. I am older and don’t feel like cooking but due to RA I need to find easy to make Whole Foods. Thanks a million! Carol from NH

    Engaging reporting!
Over the last few years I have intentionally avoided the news, plainly because of the amount of negative (fun fact there is an episode on this topic on the show, go listen!). Someone recently shared this podcast with me though, and I have found wanting to engage back into knowing more about the world—not just my immediate surroundings. I particularly like cohost Elahe Izadi’s questioning. Always seems to ask what I would want to know next if I was just learning this information.

Thank you for keeping us up on all things crime. Also curse away…these people are human garbage and you need a way to release the outrage. I get as fired up as you do!

I really love the reporting that is done on the show, it's one of my go to podcasts to get in-depth perspectives on what's going on on the world. One thing about the most recent podcast regarding the conflict over Taiwan: it was said that there are two parties fighting over Taiwan, when theres a third-party to consider: the original people who were living in Taiwan before the Civil War between the communist and the nationalist parties. In my opinion, it's almost the same as saying that there are just two parties in America fighting for who it belongs to, but ignoring the fact that the Native Americans were already there in the beginning. Admittedly, I'm not versed in Taiwanese history as much as the people who are reporting, but I do want to give my opinion as a Taiwanese-American, and understanding of its history as my family and community has lived it and shared it. Thank you again for reporting on this. I appreciate your hard work on the show!

    Israel Goodwill
You are outrageous. How dare you give the impression that ANY of this is Israel’s fault. How dare you sympathize with terrorists being stripped and held in their underwear !!!! Ever heard of suicide bombs? In the chaos of war - better to be safe than sorry. How dare you be citing the legalities of that!!! I’d rather be stripped down to my underwear and photographed without a single indication of torture or abuse, than be seen dead with my underwear around my knees after being tortured , mutilated and gang raped. All of this death and destruction including the 3 hostages is because HAMAS started a war on October 7. I am so sick of you feeding the anti-semitic machine. You should be ashamed of yourself.

    Dec 27 review
I love this podcast and Martine but every now and again the unbalanced reporting gets to me. On this episode about affirmative action two students were chosen with basically the same perspective. I would have liked to have seen an Asian American student interviewed who now has the chance of being considered for admission. Please strive for more balanced reporting.
  • Shayla_NYC
    Very one-sided view
Since the October 7, this podcast has become so slanted. Neither Martine or Elahe barely mention the hostages. They never ask why the Palestinians have to rely on aid from other countries because their own industries can’t support them. The question is never asked how they were able to afford all of the tunnels and why did the general population allow this to go on? They are so quickly to “criticize” Israel by asking non-question questions in a serious voice to make believe they are being fair. I am finally unsubscribing.

Goodwill? Israel is a country of cold blooded killers. The Israelis have always historically treated the Palestinians terribly. Israel is looking to completely eliminate the entire Palestinian culture, the world is witnessing nothing short of genocide. So, too, Israel has an army, Air Force, the Gospel AI weaponry, nuclear weapons and other high tech weapons, whilst the Palestinians have none of these. We are watching a terrible overreaction to the original Hamas bombing, Israel is happy to get a chance to destroy the Palestinian people. This is not really about eliminating the Hamas military, but to eliminate ‘ALL’ of the Palestinians culture. The US has no business stepping into this conflict, we need to STOP focusing exclusively on Israel, either give to both sides or no one at all. The US needs to get out of the Middle East!

    Weird ads
The climate episode was supported by BP. Seriously… you need better sponsors.

    Great journalism
It’s a terrific podcast and I’ve shared many episodes with friends and family. It’s compelling and informative and engaging journalism at its finest.
  • Eugimon
    Terrorist sympathizers
The hosts will twist themselves into pretzels to say that being upset about calling for the world wide genocide of Jewish people is just Jewish people being too sensitive. Disgusting antisemitism.

    Uneven
Sometimes good hard hitting investigative reporting. Sometimes gagging frivolous laughing, e.g., 12/4/23.

    Happy Martine is back!
This is a quality podcast. They ask the difficult questions more often than NYT.

    ENOUGH w the soundtrack!
Your soundtrack is REALLY ANNOYING! We know you’ve a sound designer you’re apparently paying, you need not prove their existence w painfully long, spectacularly annoying audible bumpers! People don’t go to Podcasts for music, we go for spoken content, so more speech and way less music.
  • Hophead68
    Careful
Nov. 30, 2023 episode discusses the problem of increased alcohol consumption in the United States. It specifically mentions the alcohol delivery service Drizly as a contributing factor…to increased alcohol related deaths! Having Drizly be the only advertisement for this episode was either a huge oversight, hypocrisy or, at worst, on purpose. Be careful WP. This could lead to a credibility issue for the paper.
  • thedailyenvy
    Good, but no advertising oversight
I enjoy this show when I listen, but there should really be more attention to the advertisers. I assume it’s an automated process, but as a result you have a show about how alcoholism is killing Americans especially post-pandemic, and a lot of that is driven by advertising, and then you have ads for Angel’s Envy Bourbon dispersed throughout the episode. It’s farsical. And insulting to the families of those lost. It’s like, what’s the point of even doing the reporting if you’re putting your thumb on the scale and helping bring about the thing you’re raising alarm about?

The Post isn't the New York Times
You need more music. These stories seem very dry.

Get rid of Martine Powers PLEASE!!
I am a subscriber to The Washington Post and like most of the articles. The problem with this podcast is Martine Powers. I listen to three news podcast daily and none of of them have a host who tries to shoehorn themselves into each and every story. If you listen to her, she’s always talking about me, me, me, or I, I, I, and has to inject herself into every story. Like she had to tell us how she rode her bike to work and made someone wait 30 minutes for an interview, while she takes her time going to work. Or she hast to interrupt and say some word because it sounds fun. Or the fact that she didn’t shave during the pandemic, who cares Martine? This is not a personal podcast. This is a news podcast. I know more about her than any of the other anchors of the other news podcasts I listen to. She has always annoyed me and I put up with it but it wasn’t until she took time off for the past year and they had guest hosts, but I really realized how much she steps all over the story to talk about herself. I like the different guest host and hearing someone new or a reporter who actually did the story talk about their story. If Martine wants to do a personal podcast about herself and her interest I have no problem with that, but when I have to hear it in the middle of a news podcast, it’s very irritating. If she returns and stays as annoying as she was, I will have to cancel my subscription and stop listening to this podcast. Please use more hosts who don’t treat it like their own personal podcast and instead report the news.

    Great stories, well told
Martine and Elahe are outstanding hosts who bring a broad array of interesting news and stories to life.

Sam Altman did not graduate college. He dropped out. That is common knowledge but your reporter states he did. I shut off the podcast after that.

    The Pro Hamas post
Your coverage of the Israel Hamas war has been a biased embarrassment. Disgusting Terrorist sympathizers
  • Luan24678
The Washington post is a partisan hack
I enjoy listening to podcast, and politics play a role, but I hate when news programs have a huge bias. The Washington post is becoming a democrat mouthpiece like fox is a republican mouthpiece. Are there any news outlets that present the news without constantly interjecting their political preference.

Panda diplomacy episode was well-done 🐼
The reporting was informative + the music was touching and emotionally on-point

    Lovely voices
This is a thoughtful show that explores many current topics. The hosts have lovely voices. I hope they aren’t discouraged by all the negative personal comments about them in these reviews.

    Maurice Bishop, and others
Dear Martini P. Thank you for your report! It is interesting and brings sadness to Lear more about the subject. For your information at that time the US participation on repression of central and South American was very extensive , you probably can get more information about it from reliable source ; my point to comment about your report is to confirm that making people “ despair “ was a distinct characteristic of the participation of the US interfering on the political and economic affairs of this country’s ; I’m sure you will find more information on the subject ; because it was recently on the news “ that the US had to return much of this information to Argentina , not just the information but also some planes that were used to dump bodies on the ocean (after this peoples where disappeared) Not just in your parents country but many others in South America. Thank you for thr report and your consideration. M from Argentina.

    It’s too biased
I used to enjoy Post Reports, and the WaPost itself, but now it’s so biased I call it The Wokeington Post and have unsubscribed. With its blatant progressive agenda, it’s totally out of touch.
