ChrisR206Love this podcast!Mike does great, laid back interviews, mostly with musicians but even the ones who weren’t are is really interesting people. Check out his Couch Riff music videos as well. They’re incredible!

ShermancatMusicians interviewed by a musician! Listen to this.First thing. The guy Squires is a great interviewer. He knows how to hang with the musicians and seems to ask questions they do not always get. Not gotcha or shockers but relationship building questions. The music part of the Riffs is always fun too. What will they do?

No name supporterNot your everyday canned interviewListing to many podcasts get you used to the canned, forced format. Mike way of interviewing is cool because you really have no idea what direction the interview will take. My interest is high because the guests are folks that give a real insight into music business. Most of his guest are people I had never heard of, but now have seeked out their music based on how interesting of a person they are.

Sinner BossGreat podcast! One of my favorite podcasts! Mike has such a personable way of interviewing. It’s like you are listening in on a private conversation between to good friends. Plus HE HAS THE BEST GUESTS!

idontwangastupidnicknameDisclaimerI’ve known Mike for years and he’s one of the nicest guys I’ve met. But, I’m in no way a music nerd, I don’t play any instruments and honestly don’t even listen to a lot of music. I do listen to a lot of podcasts though. I pretty much passed by Mike's show assuming I wouldn’t relate and it would bore me. I was wrong, I love Couch Riffs. It’s a good mix of music nerd and interesting stories from the guests. You definitely don’t need to be “in the business” for Couch Riffs to be entertaining.

Ol' SchoolEpisode 63. Kate Reddy (108)This was my first episode and thought the interview would be geared around the music side of Kate and her being in 108 and other band endeavors. Instead, we learned that Kate’s husband basically “groomed” her from the age of 14 (he was 21) and they hooked up 4 years later and ended up marrying. The only talk about 108 was around the hour and a half mark and only lasted for 5 minutes. Last 10 minutes always a quick talk about Equal Vision records. It was actually kinda creepy and weird

ZKanaLiterally like listening to paint dryI’ve tried listening to several episodes but only made it about 20 minutes in each without hearing anything moderately relatable, of interest, or entertaining in any way. I could record my dogs licking their balls and farting and it would likely be more listenable. It’s cool this guy has friends. So do I but I wouldn’t do a podcast of me talking to them about inane topics. Why are there so many episodes and why are they all so long?

I rule .......… u don'tTerrible Interviewer. Why does this guy even have guests?Terrible interviewer. Can’t figure out why this guy has guests, he wants to just talk about himself and his gear. Who cares, I would like to actually hear the guest speak some. I listened to the David Knudson episode and was just aggravated through the whole thing. This guy just kept cutting Dave off and rambling on about himself, his gear, his jobs.... Again who cares? Dave was very gracious and even started asking him questions to keep the sad interview a float. I’ve listened to thousands of hours of podcasts and this one was the worst.

Spunky NPR FanWhat’s not to like?In depth interviews with interesting musicians. As an additional benefit, Mike’s behavioral prescriptions, if faithfully adhered to, will usher in an era of permanent world peace.

AshtonTateGreat interviews that feel freshA lot of other podcasts with musicians are boring and feel forced; not this one! Funny too and I like how the questions aren’t like the ones asked in every other podcast.

London206Makes guitar fun.You know those guys who work at music stores and are such arrogant bores? Looking down their nose at you as you buy the “wrong” strings, pedals, amps, guitars, picks or anything else they think you’re doing wrong because they read one issue too many of (insert guitar magazine name here). Couch Riffs is the antidote to that. People having fun, celebrating music they love and the joy is contagious. Don’t be that music store guy, be Mike Squires instead.
