Purple dermaFantastic farming podcastI’m a farmer and I love listening to this podcast while I work! Michael interviews many different types of farms at various scales, so there is a lot of diversity within the content. I always finish an episode with lots of new ideas. I love that he always asks farmers what advice they have for folks who are just starting their farms. It feels like a continuation of The Farmer to Farmer Podcast.

Syd the kid3“Ironic podcast host…..…makes it painful to listen” Ever wonder what it would be like to listen to a podcast hosted by an AI generated host?….. Now is your chance! I think he might be Ferris Bueller-ing the interview with recorded questions, mmmm hmmm’s and gotcha’s while he’s down the hall making a sandwich. He should at least PRETEND to be interested since he’s the host or, use the bathroom before the interview. In a word, I’d call it unbearable.

surgite1971Hops Farm in Northcentral PAThanks for putting these together! Incredibly valuable to smaller, family-owned Farms like ours…particularly ones that are first generation ones trying to figure it out and make it work as we go…well done!
-
lmvivSuch a good find! We’re Microdairy farmers in PA: 10 cows, 20acres: all direct to consumer sales. This podcast is right up our alley as regenerative farmers ourselves! So glad we found it!
-
TmintnerLove it!So much information on many topics whether you are a hobbyist or trying to make a living as a farmer.
-
gray2188That’s the question I wanted to askLove this podcast! As a homesteader, I’m curious on how to make my family farm profitable. You ask most of the questions I want to ask the people you’re interviewing. Love listening and learning!

NaraRose6Great guests very unengaged hostI listened for a little while because a lot of the guests were interesting and inspiring …BUT I just can’t get past the host! He runs through a script and doesn’t ever really connect with the guests. Good hosts know how to engage with their guests to get them talking more and keep the content interesting and flowing. This one runs through questions as bullet points with “mhmm”, “interesting” and “gotcha” as his only response. Too distracting and gives the impression that he is rushed and not actually interested in his guests at all.
-
Dr.rickloftusGreat informative show for farm “nerds”The episode that interviewed Prof Chris Jones what is exemplary, and is an example of the kinds of thoughtful stories you’ll find out this podcast
-
Badger5454Great guestsIf the host would interject less, I would listen more frequently. Update: Host still overuses “yeah”, “mmhmm”, and “mmm”. Love the guests but the host is pretty bad. A guest will tell a great story with a lot of interesting things and the host will respond with “yeah” and ask an unrelated question. 🤦♂️

RA Shop 2019Should just be called ThrivingI’m starting a hobby farm and thought this podcast would be interesting. It is so much more. The concepts, practices, and topics apply to more than just farming. They apply to any business, work, sales, marketing, and even life in general.
-
HORSE enthusiast KESGreat topicsI listen regularly even about things I don’t farm - just to learn! Great guests!
-
MooAtU2DistractingCouldn’t get past the host constantly saying “mmmhumm mmmhumm mmmhumm”, “ok”, and “gotcha”. Got under my skin and had to stop listening. Just let the guest talk, please.
-
indigoforestLove this podcastThis is an informative entertaining podcast. I am a novice but Michael Kilpatrick’s knowledge of the industry combined with the veteran guest farmers make any subject enjoyable and accessible.

I would recommend this show to anyone m, but especially farmers and future farmers.

willbs27Almost perfectI am loving this podcast. So much so that this is the first time I have left a review for one. But Michael, please please PLEASE stop saying “mmhmm.” As a host it is important to control vocal ticks and that one is insanely distracting.
-
Holidave123AwesomeGreat Podcast, really appreciate the broad perspective and range of topics and also the nitty gritty details. Great to see a podcast on more than just growing, but on finance, marketing, and lifestyle

Regeneration FarmBar None, Best Free Resource I've Come Across!I've learned an incredible amount listening to Michael's podcast. As a new market gardener deciding where to focus my efforts it has been invaluable. The range of topics and depth of discussions really give a great insight from those out there successfully running their businesses and farms. In addition he's interviewed several who teach and aid farmers with their soil, yields, food safety, how to run their businesses, marketing, and so much more! I HIGHLY recommend both this podcast and anything else Michael has to offer!!
-

C.ChamberlainAlways a Missing PieceI am farming as a second career after 22 years in the USAF. With no previous agricultural experience, I have been gobbling up all the information I can find on farming and running a small business from literally hundreds of sources. This podcast has constantly provided some nugget of information that has proven useful or given birth to an epiphany. Even if I am not interested in the particular topic by title, I always find one of my missing puzzle pieces when I am listening to the show even if I wasn’t aware that it was missing. No other podcast I have listened to thus far has been so consistent! Kudos to you Michael Kilpatrick.
-
four-farmersGold mine!Even after 20+ years of farming there’s always a nugget of invaluable information (and usually several) in each episode. Thank you for enjoyable conversations with inspiring farmers.
-
ML Spenc GiveGlen Elzinga on the World’s Tastiest BeefThank you for the fun and informative podcast. Myself, my husband, and my son, are exploring regenerative farming business for the beautiful 450 acres we own here in West Virginia.
-
MD FarmerPodcast host is bad, Guests are sometimes interestingThe host is so corny. He is clearly very involved in the internet marketing world. I wish he would stop having guests on who are not involved in farming. He asks a lot of leading questions! As a farmer the only reason I am still subscribed to the show is that he sometimes has great guests on the podcast and if he gets out of the way and lets them talk then the show can be helpful and interesting!
-
RushingGreensSo many great insights into farmingI’m a later in life farmer looking for insights from books, articles and podcasts. The Thriving Farmer is at the top of my list. You have so many different farmers from so many stages of farming. Thanks for doing this!

Cjk212Easy to listen to, easily addictingI started listening to this podcast this past week and I'm already on Episode 10. I love it. As a young adult it's wonderful to hear the many perspectives from a large array of different farmers. My favorite episode was with Joel Salatin (Polyface Farm, Episode 2). Some key points that I was able to learn were: * Trajectory over speed (tortoise over the hare) * Get out of debt, develop nest egg with a decent job, give yourself time to learn * 18 months is ideal to learning anything * You can’t google experience, get out there and get learning * Intern/Apprentice, finding a mentor, experience can’t be rushed * Movement creates movement, inertia creates more direction * Grow something you like eating It's easy to understand and take notes. I'm grateful for your podcast channel and look forward to listening to the other episodes! I also love how you ask at the end "what tool is most essential to you?" (the farmer), and there's a wide array from Quickbooks, tractors to physical equipment. Keep it up! Thank you.

DaronsVery interesting podcastLots of variety in topics of farming. The episodes fly by.

No matter what you are honing your farm skills on; greens, livestock, microgreens, florals, or just dreaming to get there one day working your own farm, these podcasts encompass a wide range of insights for all types of farmers. With each podcast I have taken away ideas and goals, you never stop learning even after 15 seasons of farming under my belt! Thanks Michael!
