BeefcheeksTruly fabulous podcast for this exhausted post-menopausal writer.I am an avid podcast-listener, guest. and author, and I have listened to literally hundreds of podcasts that purport to integrate Health, cap H, of every kind: mental, physical, emotional. Many are very good; some are meh; some are deplorable and make me cringe. I (unthinkably; very late to the party) found myself traveling down the rabbit hole that is Suranne Jones’ work (acting, producing, etc), and had recently learned of the issues she dealt with while juggling emotionally and physically difficult work going back a few years. I was *stunned* to hear her talk about it on this podcast with such candor, grace, and bravery. As an author whose book came out at the start of lockdown, I was supposed to be touring and instead wound up having a Covid-related stroke and have spent the last four years trying to haul my post-menopausal self back from the edge in an integrated, holistic manner. So I was absolutely blown away by Jones’ conversation here with Alice; it should be required listening for all women who are burning the candle everywhere, who are pushing their bodies and spirits to the point of collapse and well beyond, who somehow cannot allow themselves the space and honor to take time to truly listen to their bodies until it is too late. Alice is a truly wonderful, thoughtful host, and I count her podcast as one of the very best in its category, and generally-speaking. Absolutely required listening. (And grateful thanks for Jones’ clarity and generosity in shedding light on what often continues to be profoundly stigmatized.)

JAHollowaySuranne Jones + Alice Liveing = healingListening to Alice’s podcasts have been a supportive and enlightening part of my commutes. However, the first few weeks of lockdown have had me doing many other (homely) things and I hadn’t listened in. When I made time today to listen to Alice and Suranne Jones whilst tidying up, time stopped. My eyes started welling up as I realized how often women compartmentalize and push down invisible stress, until it takes a physical toll. Having just lost my father to dementia a couple weeks ago, working in new ways from home, not getting to the gym, that old nemesis insomnia rearing its head again, I could see I am heading to an unhealthy place and will seek help. Thank you both for being so supportive and courageous, you are helping more people than you could possibly know. 🤗

Mnt leoGreat Perspective!Love the podcast. The guests & interviews have a different perspective than other podcasts. We need more access to health & fitness information like you get through this podcast. The only critic I could give would be that when Alice agrees w/ the guest she says, “hmm” or “mmm” a lot. Which just sticks out to me, but otherwise it’s a good listen.
