    Smart fans listen to this!

    Has become must listen
So rare to get critical analysis from former coaches, players, and GMs. Michael is so blunt I frequently laugh on how brutal he can be. I have learned so much about the administrative side of the NFL that I never knew. Keep pumping out episodes!

The GM Shuffle: A Podcast Marred by Arrogance and Agenda
The GM Shuffle is a football podcast bringing you all the latest news around the NFL - as long as it aligns with Mike Lombardi’s preconceived beliefs and agenda. A former general manager who isn’t bashful in reminding you that he was ‘in the league’ and “I’m not just saying that because my son works there”, Mike spends his episodes defending every take he has and criticizing anyone who dares disagree with him. You want someone to remind you that HE KNEW Justin Fields wouldn’t be good? This is your podcast. Just don’t expect Mike to address the fact that he also said Will Anderson wasn’t worth the hype - and this makes the nonconfrontational Femi the perfect host. Topics are strategically discussed in a way in which Mike always emerges as smarter than everyone else. There’s no back-and-flow with Femi; rather, Mike speaks when he wants to speak, which means constantly interrupting Femi with “like seriously” and enough utterances of “you know” that a Toastmasters rookie would blush. You have to laugh at Mike’s inability to pronounce even the simplest of names and there are some strange fixations that take away from the show - everything can be tied back to a Sporanos quite or a reference to Mike’s cousin Big Daddy, and don’t even get Mike started on the JFK assassination. You’ll definitely get some interesting behind-the-scenes content but Angry Mike’s perpetual arrogance makes this a tough listen.

    Mike Lombardi Names Names
Whether or not you agree with his perspective, Mike Lombardi provides tremendous anecdotes about NFL history including sharing the names of the players and coaches he is often criticizing. This distinguishes him from other former insiders who make vague references to avoid offending anyone with an aim to get back into a job in the league. A must-listen before; during, and after the season.

    Unlike other sports pods
I appreciate that this pod focuses a lot on leadership and what are the ingredients of winning organizations. It also does things that no other sports pod does, like their “Literature and Leadership” series over the summer. No one will ever accuse Michael Lombardi of not having an opinion. Sometimes they’re harsh assessments that no one else will say out loud, but he is often proven right more often than not. He will also admit when he is wrong. Appreciate the insights and education. Keep it up Mike and Femi!

I love this show, but always remember is about gambling
I love this show because it explodes the myths and group thing perpetuated by the gas bags that normally cover the NFL, but… it will not acknowledge gambling is causing problems for the NFL. Of course it won’t because it’s sponsor by an on line gambling concern. To make matters worse, Lombardi and his side kick said the recent problems with player gambling was the result of a lack of education provided to players. Lombardi then pointed to the English Premier League as a place where players deal with gambling well. This IS THE SAME WEEK when Ivan Toney, a player in the Premier League, was suspended for 8 months for gambling on football and the Premier League is placing restrictions on clubs/teams on gambling advertisements on shirts and in the stadium. The Athletic had a podcast with players who had been suspended for gambling on soccer. This show was just a shill for gambling interests, it was pathetic.

    Uncle Bills Podcast
Shows has turned into defending Uncle Bill and the “patriot way” more than a football show. Get over it. Love your football knowledge but stop with the “it’s all Brady, Bill did nothing” for half the podcast. You sound like a scorned lover who can’t move on.

    Lombardi
If Bill comes back and goes 5-12 back-to-back and fails to surpass Shula in wins total, are gonna let it go? Stop making excuses for Bill? It’s starting to get embarrassing. Asking for all your fans. Still a fan Lombo!

    Femi Has Grown On Me
I’ve followed all the iterations of the GM Shuffle (this being the third), and I thought at first the chemistry between Femi and Michael was plus minus, but after a few years they seem to compliment each other really well. I think that the age gap means that there’s less pop culture stuff that the two can connect on (e.g., Sopranos), but that just means they’re more focused on football. Overall I really like the show, and it’s probably my most consistently listened to podcast.

    RIP Al
I’m not an Al Davis fan however, I understand he had his moment in the sun, but it gets tiring hearing Mike talk about him as if it was the smartest guy in football ever. The game passed him by just like it did so many other people before him, like Landry, Noll, Shula, etc. The game changed a lot in the 80s and 90s and these guys just couldn’t keep up.

    Best NFL pod period
The greatest NFL head coaches were/are teachers. After decades we as fans think we know the NFL game but it’s not the commentary on TV. Michael Lombardi teaches a deeper understanding of the NFL game. Coaching, strategy, play calling, player evaluation, job descriptions, etc, so that fans understand all that goes into the NFL games like chess on a gridiron. Fans can learn exactly why some teams win & others can’t. Femi Abebefe works perfectly with Michael to complete the best NFL podcast in existence. Wish I’d had this resource 20 years ago.

I have been listening to this for years. I love it. Great content and hosts. Great job guys.

    Great show
I used to think John Clayton was the man ! For slot of years he was. Rest in peace. You are a legend of nfl reporting . The GM shuffle with the man these days is Michael Lombardi. He knows his chit. If I was ever gonna buy a nfl team? He would be the first guy I hire.

    Haters
These two clowns are Dallas/Patriots guys so they clearly hate the Giants. All Lombardi does is trash the Giants at every turn. I get they haven’t been good but the bias on this show makes it unbearable. Bozos had nothing to say when the Giants won a playoff game! Edit: disease of me!!!! Lol. Lombardi is a bucket head. Edit: I forgot to say—lombardis cohosts are trash. They know nothing about football and just parrot what he says.
  • bluesalamone
Great pod but Lombardi needs new subjects
Lombardi is terrific but hearing him grind on about analytics in classic “get off my lawn” style becomes strident on repetition. But still love the guy, especially on Simmons’ pod
  • FS@HB
    Three Stars
Mike Lombardi has legit football knowledge and this is a good listen. I would give a 5 except that I’m a Giants fan and Mike sometimes mocks the Giants. But I have to give Mike credit for an interesting podcast.

    Mailing it in
Michael sounds exhausted and they both seem to be in a rush to end each show. The show used to be great, it’s been pretty weak for this season tho.

    Review
Lombardi couldn't be more biased if he tried. One of the worst GMs in the history of the NFL giving advise and writing books on how to build a team. This guy couldn't be up Belicheks butt any farther. A scout for the raiders, the assistant to the assistant coaches in NE for 2 years and he waxes poetic about the patriot and raider way. What a tool. His pod is entertaining but do not think what he discusses most of the time worth anything. Keep insulting coaches in the NFL , it's obvious why he's on the outside looking in.

2nd Best Football Show After Lombardi Line
Lombo & Femi drop serious knowledge. The only way this show could be better is if it was on 7 days a week like the Lombardi Line.

    Relevance/Patriot Takes
I generally like the flow of the pod and mikes unfiltered look on the league. But you should stay away from Patriots topics on the 11/30 pod y’all broke down the Mac/zappe qb controversy without once mentioning bill and his future which is a much more relevant and interesting issue at this point of the season. Understandably Mike is scared of offering opinions on his friends he does not want to go to cape may!

    Belichick Pawn
This podcast is great for a defense of Michael's friends and family. Michael has a massive blind spot for anything related to his sons teams or Belichick

Great Pod — informed football talk devoid of thre generally garbage “hot takes” that polite airways… Thx gents…

    Great pod but
It’d be cool if they moved to mostly pod format rather than just producing this based off whatever live show they’re doing. The segments are usually cut short because they have to get to commercial breaks.

    Patriots roster
Love the podcast, I listen twice a week, thank you for your great work. The bottom line is this team is below average and has been this way since 2020. How may impact players have been drafted in the past 10 years? How many playoff teams have they beat since 2020? How many difference makers have they signed as free agents. The bottom line is I am not sure there is a QB in the league that could win with this roster. Thank you Brett

    GM Shuffle
Michael is the best as McAfee calls him “the piasan”. I get the Daily Coach everyday. His thoughts on leadership are outstanding adding the Soprano lines are the best! I never miss an episode. RJP

If you want Bears talk this is your pod. They used to cover games now they only talk about Justin Fields. It’s annoying

    Theme music
Love the pod and no complaints on the great content. But, when the music keeps playing while you guys are talking it is very annoying. Why are you interrupting, Lombardi especially? Like don't ask him a question if you are going to cut him off.

    New Podcasts
You guys need to have these Podcasts up and going in the morning. People on the West Coast are driving and would like to listen in the car as opposed to constantly check to see when the Podcast drops. Consistency is huge in the world of Podcasts.

    Not the standard
The NBA review was subpar at best. I agree with your NBA takes and Artie Bucco analogy, but to have a guest who won’t give their real name is not credible and not what I have come to expect from the GM Shuffle. The guest was not well spoken and did not offer any valuable insights. I know it’s summer and there is a dearth of NFL news, but this guest was not to the Lombardi standard. The author series was excellent. I look forward to more information from this podcast, I’ve subscribed since the inception with Tate and Adnan and I have purchased the books and look forward to the new one. Keep up the good work Femi and Mike.

    Summer getting tiring
Getting tired of pompous ego-driven, non football bull crap… waiting for maybe August 15 or so…

    Mr. X
Mr. X is Mike Procopio. You can tell it’s the same guy from Rogue Bogues by the way he talks. Also was overly effusive saying Rick Carlisle was a great coach. The voice modulator was fun but you can tell it’s Mike.

    Best Perspective
I can’t watch or listen to any other punditry. How can you beat a guy who used to work in the business? It’s such a unique perspective in a VERY crowded space. Great work, guys! -Mario Perry, Michigan

    6/6/23 episode
Listening to Michael and Feme talk to this show runner was hard to listen to as a leadership & literature episode was nearly impossible to listen too and I love this show as a norm.

    Femi!
This pod has quickly morphed into the “First Take” model… start a topic and than have Lombardi see how loud and angry he can get, while poor Femi has to take it and just keep show moving… Mikes ego and arrogance continue to get worse

    Michael is a straight shooter
I love this show. Michael speaks from years of front office experience. If you love the NFL, you’ll really enjoy Michael’s black and white, no holds bar opinions. This definitely is not a G rated podcast but you will really enjoy it.

Best NFL show on the internet
I have enjoyed Mike Lombardi with Tate or Adnan or Femi. Mike is always amusing and interesting. One of the few Podcasts where the host has been there and done that. I also appreciate Mike’s historical perspective.

    Enough with Brent Musburger
We know we are listening to the GM Shuffle. Shut up! Every break I have to turn down the volume as Brent comes in 3x as loud.
