    Informed AND Hopeful!
I’m a much much much more informed consumer of climate information because I listen to this podcast. And I’m a much much much more optimistic and thus active citizen because of its uplifting tone—great work!

    Favorite podcast
This is absolutely my favorite podcast. The expert hosts, Christiana, Tom, and Paul, interview a diverse set of change makers, and have a good analysis of the latest trends and news, and still have an emotional angle because there are reasons for outrage and optimism. Acknowledging both is crucial for our climate sanity. Thank you!

Love from Bhutan - Thank you for your wisdom!
I just listened to the episode with Okezue Bell, and he is in Bhutan for the Fab Fest! What a coincidence! I love listening to this podcast and as a climate worker in Bhutan esp. working within the space of climate literacy, action and young people - I derive much joy and share the same frustrations expressed and channeled so eloquently and realistically in this podcast. I love the chemistry between Christina, Paul and Tom. I am big fan. One of my aspirations is to do a similar podcast to bring Bhutan’s climate stories to the forefront, owning and creating our own narrative esp. the voices and perspectives of the young Bhutanese that make up about 65% of population. Thank you again!

It helps me to take action.
I was writing this for a survey, and realized it was really a podcast review: In the past 2 years, I have moved from despondency about climate change, to an excitement for action. Outrage + Optimism is a huge part of this, along with Molly Wood's Sunday "VC Sunday School" podcast interviews with climate-founders, and "How to Save a Planet". What helped me turn the corner was an interview with Katherine Hayhoe on "On Being", which my 9 year-old daughter insisted I leave playing when she got in the car. There was a particular moment in that podcast where she describes that we're actually going in the right direction, but we all need to help push the progress to go faster. That unlocked the secret for me. I'm not very involved in big-picture policy matters, but Outrage + Optimism explains what's happening at that level with the right mix of hope and clear-minded assessments. Personally, since I already have rooftop solar panels, I decided the "next steps" I could take would be to help others get them. So I've been like a non-salesman friend, hand-holding a few folks to help them take the hard step of "going solar". More recently I've also started to build a coalition of teachers and parents to get our public elementary school to get solar panels on the roof, and tie in all kinds of teaching with that. I'm so excited about this! It actually pulls in citywide initiatives into a wonderfully feel-good project. I am certain we will succeed. I don't know how long it will take, but we're going to make a glorious stink of the process, so everyone hears about it. In its global and government policy focus, Outrage + Optimism actually helps me to understand how my smaller, local actions fit into a bigger picture. I can work hard myself on things that I know make a difference at my scale, while feeling comforted that others are working at vastly different levels, towards policy change, government action, and fiscal responsibility for the environment.

    Infuriating and Uplifting
Infuriating on the “outrage” side of the house and uplifting on the “optimism” side, this podcast does a superb job of educating its listeners on the damage mankind is doing to its own habitat AND the cooperative efforts to undo that damage. I love the energy behind Christiana, Tom and Paul’s conversations and they bring in some fascinating speakers. Found this podcast after reading (and loving) “The Future We Choose” by Tom and Christiana. Highly recommend both the podcast and the book.

    Entomophagy???
How To Feed The World Without Devouring The Planet was an exemplary episode in many ways. But one environmentally friendly alternative was rather conspicuously absent. In 2013 a UN report urged western nations to do more to adopt and educate their people about the environmental and health benefits associated with insects as a food source. And yet not one word about it was mentioned here. This surprised and disappointed me.

    Consistently Illuminating, Frequently Fun!
Never thought it would find a place among my other weekly listens, but “Outrage and Optimism” somehow broke through and got me hooked. I certainly care a whole lot about the topic (action on climate change) but listening to an hour-long episode each week at first seemed a bit much. This podcast, however, is consistently illuminating, often uplifting, and dare I say, frequently fun! I enjoy each segment of the show — the groovy theme music, the pre-interview chat among Cristiana, Tom, and Paul (always thoughtful, often witty), the interview itself (usually fascinating), the post-interview debriefing (always astute), the musical selection (usually well-chosen and worth a listen), and Clay’s show notes (funny and full of ideas for further listening). So, I’ve become a fan of the show, and love having it on while I vacuum indoors or do yard work outside. I’ve even shared especially good episodes with family and friends. Keep up the good work, O

    Thank you
Keep up the amazing work. I love hearing all of your guests and hearing your perspective on your guests. I love your worldview, since many of us US citizens can become super absorbed with our own country. I love your balance. We need the outrage and optimism interwoven together. It's hard to take people who are too Pollyanna and and it's hard to digest too much doom. Thank you!

    Meat consumption
I just found your informative and interesting podcast. Is there any episode regarding the unsustainable and harmful effects of animal factory farming and the urgency to eat more plants and less animal derivate food . Thank you.

Thanks for All You Do for Me/Us
I hate it when I fall behind on your podcasts because I find them not only informative but entertaining and, as in the case of your March 2nd episode, consoling. I am an activist with Citizens Climate Lobby and as a member often submit letters to the editor of our local newspaper. This one episode gave me so many great lines to use in one of these letters. Thank you so much for your articulate optimism and for your bold outrage; you all are an inspiration to keep fighting for this cause! Linda Cohan Tacoma, Washington, USA
  • Steve@ChannelMatters
Optimistic about the show; outraged about the lack of progress
Great podcast by and with folks truly at the leading edge of climate change. I look forward to it every week.

    Great show
I just love this podcast. I’m transitioning my career to pursue climate full time, and in the past couple of years I’ve learned more from this show than any other single source. Thank you for all the work you put into it!

Informative, critical and at times hilarious
This is my favorite podcast. Listening to this has helped shape my path forward to fulfill my goal to create a sustainable and just world. Even pushed me to go back to school! An MBA in Sustainability. When is an educational portion going to be on? When you are going to highlight the legend… Hunter Lovins?

    Inspiring and substantive
This podcast is unique in many ways. It’s undeniably fun and interesting to listen to… But with Christina F. (who many people consider key to the success of the Paris Agreement) you get a top level but profoundly compassionate inside scoop on where the world is right now in the struggle for a just and livable future.
  • tmarsico
    I appreciate y’all!
Christina, Paul, Tom, Clay, and the whole team, Wow! I have been a subscriber of Outrage and Optimism for one year this week, and this is absolutely the best. In a world flush with excellent podcasts, yours is tops. I find myself so invigorated, hopeful, and determined after each episode and expectant for the next. Keep up the great work. From Travis, a husband, father, botanist, invasive species biologist, professor, and climate-focused member of humanity writing from Arkansas, USA. Thanks again for everything!

    You are part of me
This podcast leads me to move and become enlightened about what is happening in the world when everyone around me feels helpless. Through each episode I become more outraged and more optimistic. The way I came across learning about this podcast was nothing but pure magic and serendipity, and for that I feel so full of life and grateful. I heard about it in the most unlikely of places. Honestly, I am happy with the longer episodes, because so much of this podcast is based on conversation and a natural flow. I love the commentaries before and after the interviews. I would love to hear some more episodes about our Oceans (Christiana will be happy). For example I love all the episodes but I particularly enjoyed the one with Enric Sala. Thank you to all of you. You are each a light in my life, and I have started to shape my existence around helping the world and you are helping me to do that. Please always continue this. Lia Ps. Some podcasts release the same episode twice at the same time in one short and one long version. Something to consider?
  • NYCisListening
    Climate info at its best
If only more people were like Christiana, Tom and Paul! Despite their impressive track record in climate policy, no trace of self-importance accompanies the episodes when they share their deep insider knowledge. It's always fun to listen, and I often see the world in a new light after listening to this show. I like the new 30 minute format. Maybe you could publish the full interviews as bonus material, for instance while you go on a break?
  • Chiyochan64
This podcast gives me hope and inspiration
(Please keep the longer format!!) Outrage + Optimism is the highlight of my week and my favorite podcast I listen to. I have found the range of topics related to climate and the balance of outrage to optimism as refreshing and inspiring. This podcast does a great job of outlining the scale of the emergency while also illuminating the progress and potential that humanity is working on for climate technology and policy. Climate change is such a vast and pervasive issue that it is easy to become overwhelmed or burnt out, but I have never felt that way when listening to Outrage+Optimism. The perspectives on this podcast have pushed me to pursue a career in (sustainable) urban planning and transportation planning so that our world can one day be designed with the needs of both the planet and the people in mind (instead of corporate interests and the well-off). Keep up the fantastic work!

Most important thing to listen to
I’m so grateful for this show- and all of you- for having the capacity to hold complexity & dialectics- both emotionally and intellectually. You manage to include creativity, humor, fun, depth, despair, passion, necessary fear and intelligence in one place. The world needs us all to be focusing on the climate crisis right now- and the way you approach it has the potential to reach people not just in the “malleable middle” but I’d say even on the “other side” of the spectrum - where people’s stubbornness and fear have gotten the best of them. I see your work as a means to have a conversation about our world for everyone- not just like-minded people. Thank you. Keep it coming. We need you.

    Inspiring & exciting!!
I LOVE this podcast!! Christiana, Tom and Paul have such incredible depth of knowledge about climate but also incredible chemistry that just makes learning about something so daunting as climate change, fun, interesting, exciting, hopeful and inspiring. This podcast is relevant to every human on the planet and I hope it continues to spread FAR & WIDE!

    Excellent insights, every time!
Outrage and Optimism is an encouraging and engaging listen - it’s clear that the Global Optimism puts extraordinary effort into finding artists and guests that are authentic and truly care about being a positive force in this world. I always walk away feeling inspired and empowered… you don’t want to miss it!

    Inspiring and Informative
Listening to your show has given me inspiration for the environmental club I am a part of in college. I have also learned valuable information from diverse perspectives, and diversity is key in humanity’s quest to overcome this crisis. Many thanks to all of you!

    Inspires Action
This is my Go To podcast for trail running. I always go longer and faster! And am regularly inspired to action by something mentioned. The interviews are excellent.

    Inside scoop made accessible!
I look forward to O+O each week for a view into the movers and shakers of business, government, and arts as we join forces to address climate. Two of the hosts were instrumental in the Paris Climate Agreement and the other host is deeply involved in using business to help solve the crisis. I love Christiana, Tom, and Paul’s different perspectives and dynamic. This pod has been vital to me as a climate advocate and has really informed my work and the climate solutions game, Green House, I created. Plus every episode ends with music! Thank you for this great show!!
  • sturgeo
    Love it
The format of this show is great - keeps me informed on the most current global climate change news (with commentary from some of the smartest minds in the field), brings a great interview with an inspiring person, and then more commentary and fun from the three hosts. Love it!!

    Great show!
I am optimistic about our future because of the people here on this podcast and all of the other hard workers that are making a carbon neutral future possible. Thank you for what you are doing and keeping everyone informed on the progress of net zero

    A must listen every week
I feel charged and optimistic each week after listening to your guests demonstrate the impact one individual or company can have in changing ones thinking towards climate change. Dale Vince and his vegan Forest Green Rovers, Reverb, Exxon share holders, the inspirational stories go on and on. My outrage continues to be our political leaders and the lack of policies to get us off carbon. Thank you for having one of the best podcasts out there. Kelly Forest- State College, PA

    Outraged and optimistic
I am a 14 year told kid trying his best the understand the complex issue of climate change and help combat it. This podcast has been a tremendous help for me and has motivated me to take action. Thank you so much! (One day I hope to be like you Christiana)

    Helpful, informative
This podcast is so helpful. I’ve learned so much and I’m meeting so many heroes doing the good work. I am an artist in the Pacific Northwest of the United States, recovering from the last four disastrous years for our democracy and for the environment. I would love to know how artists can help with the movement, how we can do artwork or donate our artwork to help with the good fight. Keep up the great work! JonBradham.com

    You guys are awesome
I love everything about this podcast. This is the best climate change podcast out there in my opinion. The banter is great, and I learn so much from every episode. I found you guys through The Climate Question BBC podcast, which is also great. Christiana you are my hero! Your intelligence, thoughtfulness, and ability to cut straight to the issue with a no-nonsense attitude is inspirational. This podcast has motivated me to become much more aware of my behaviors and change them for the better. Thanks!

    Only Podcast I listen to
I’m eco-obsessed (my insta is @theecochicguide) & this podcast is my go-to to catch-up on the latest news, hot topics, and hear interviews with the biggest names in climate change like Prince William, Stella McCartney, Jane Fonda, etc. etc. The most legit eco podcast (and perhaps podcast in general) out there. Only con is it’s addicting!

    My Favorite Climate Podcast!
I look forward to this podcast every week. Not only do I get to learn of breaking news and latest developments in the world of climate action, but I always walk away from episodes with a new spark of inspiration. I absolutely love that this podcast offers new lenses from which to think about climate change, reveals new dimensions of the global climate story, and leaves me with a wealth of new ideas to ponder as I work to ignite climate action from my own little corner of the world. Thank you so much Christiana, Paul, Tom, and Clay!

    Outrage + optimism
I’ve been listening to this podcast for months now on Stitcher. I needed to open this in apple podcasts in order to rate it. I feel better now that I have finally done so. O + O is inspiring, motivational, entertaining, and educational. I’m a Sierra Club member, and I’ve asked all of my fellow Sierrans in Northern Kentucky to give it a listen. Keep up the great work. Anniversary of Paris agreement
Super fascinating podcast and episode! I just want to say to Christina, you and your team had succeeded in blooming Paris agreement because all diplomats, decision makers and business owners refer to Paris agreement as a reference even climate change deniers! Keep it up! Hope is contagious❤️👍

    Empowering and hopeful
Listening to Tom, Tom, and Christiana gives me hope for the future of the world and clarity on how I can be better for it. Inspirational, thought provoking, funny, sobering, and rallying. Whenever I’m feeling down about the climate/politics, this podcast puts me back on my feet and reminds me that we have agency to create change together, and we can wake up and choose to be optimistic about it every day :)

Fabulous podcast with consistently great guests
The quality of guests reflects the high level of international knowledge and contacts that these hosts bring to climate change issues. Always fascinating and educational.
  • MindoCamp1
    Shallow critique
What a disappointingly shallow critique of the film! You and The Expert aimed at the easy and obvious targets saying almost nothing about the more profound criticisms or questions raised by the film, fleeing discussing the intrinsic threats of capitalism and human population explosion to the environment and species extinction. You just criticized motivation, which is totally unscientific and suspect (you could be accused of the same motives yourself) without addressing the profound issues. You’re afraid to discuss the hard issues. Are they insoluble? Are you afraid of losing your optimism?

I like learning about So many aspects about the world and climate that are important. The guests are true experts. The data and conclusions are based on facts and real science. I also enjoy that it’s presented in a very energetic and interesting way. The program is upbeat and very dynamic. Presenters and guests share their input and observations in a fluid way. It all flows very well.
