    Helpful even for nonpainters!
I’m a printmaker and collage artist (not a painter), and yet I still get so much value from the “Learn to Paint” podcast. The host asks really smart questions and I find that there are nuggets of wisdom I can apply to my own work. And who knows—maybe someday I will take the leap and become a painter! If so, I know where to look for guidance. ;-)

    Excellent!
I really enjoy all the interviews and I learned so much! Wonderful artists interviewed, thank you. Can’t wait to listen to the next one.!

    Excellent interviewer, great content
While I don’t love every artist that is on the show, Kelly’s masterful observations and open, intuitive questions allow guests to truly answer with freedom and space. So many podcasters ask closed, leading questions that don’t allow folks to talk openly and flow from topic to topic. Talking about visual art in a non-visual medium can be a challenge and this podcast has found a way to do it in such an engaging and interesting way. I hope you never stop!

    Great variety of guest artists
I love how each artist that is being interviewed is completely different than the one before. I have learned so much from listening to their processes. I thoroughly enjoyed this podcast.

Enjoyable informative podcast for artists that paint
I have been binge watching all the episodes. No matter what your painting medium or skill level I think there is great information and inspiration for all that paint or want to paint. The host does a terrific job interviewing artists.

    Very informative interviews
Kelly does the most in depth interviews. Im a real beginner but like hearing about techniques and influences. Thank you!

    She’s a Listener Too!
I love Kelly’s style of interviewing - she listens to the guest and takes the conversation in logical directions. I also love that she keeps the majority of the conversation focused on the guest and doesn’t spend a lot of time talking about herself. Don’t get me wrong, I want to hear all about Kelly but I appreciate that she typically does that in her mini casts which I also really like. Thanks Kelly!!

    Kelly is a great interviewer
As a total beginner in painting, Kelly asks all the questions I would love to ask these amazing artists. Learning so much!

Among the very best painting podcasts!
Kelly Anne Powers is a gifted interviewer, which makes this podcast a delight! She asks very thoughtful questions of her artist guests, which brings out really meaningful responses from them. I’ve learned so much!

    Great interview with Nancy Reyner
It seems odd that a podcast could help painters, because you don’t have any visual input. But this podcast really does help! I just heard the interview with Nancy Raynor, and it really helped me solve a couple issues I’ve wondered about a long time.

    Best painting podcast around!
Kelly Ann both selects great people to interview, as well as asks great questions that really get down to the nitty gritty! She does a great job leading through the subject and bringing out the best from her interviewee.

    What a treasure for painters!
I am loving this podcast and have learned so much! Great topics such as how to get atmospheric depth, etc. explained in a way that makes perfect sense. Not to mention inspiration!!! 😊😊😊

Don't like how she pushes for her pateron site
She should not push for money in order to hear the 2nd half of her interviews. Pushing for the pateron site should never be on podcasts. I don't know of ANY other podcast that does this. Not nice. Not supportive.

    Daily painting
I have always loved art, but have struggled just getting to the actual doing of art. I started listening to this podcast about 2 months ago and kept hearing the importance of painting everyday. I’ve set (and kept!) the goal of painting/drawing at least 30 minutes a day for over a month now while I listen to the podcast and I am having so much fun! I have a lot more freedom too with the advice of many interviewed that there needs to be 100 bad paintings before you catch your stride. Loving this podcast, but hating that I’m moving through episodes so fast!

    The absolute best art podcast
Everything about this podcast is great — Interesting and diverse guests, practical in-depth discussions about process, inspiration and technique and informative ancillary resources to complement the topics discussed. A+++

Practical advice to get you painting
I’ve been listening to this podcast for months because I’m interested in learning to paint. The conversations and mini-lessons from Kelly are helping me create a sustainable art practice that works within the context of my busy life. When a new episode comes out, I can always look forward to a conversation that is relevant, succinct, and full of practical advice and new insights. This is also the first time that I’ve become a Patreon subscriber for a podcast. The extra support I’ve gained by being a member has been a great way to help me build momentum and consistency.

    The BEST art podcast
I have downloaded every art-related podcast possible. Most of them are just dialogue between two artists about their day-to-day life. This podcast is actually helpful. There’s so much good information in here and I can’t wait to listen to every episode.

    My favorite art podcast 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I absolutely love these interviews!! Kelly is a fantastic interviewer. I’m getting back into painting after a couple of decades away and found this podcast because Kelly interviewed my teacher, Melanie Morris. It was a fantastic episode - and I literally learned things from that interview that I’ve never heard Melanie say before! And then I stuck around to listen to more episodes. And I’m so impressed. This has now become my favorite art podcast. I have bookmarked pretty much every episode I’ve listened to ❤️❤️ Highly recommend. And thank you!

    Binge Listening!
I just discovered this podcast and I’m absolutely loving the content. The host, Kelly Anne, asks all of the questions that I would ask (only more and better!) and the mix of guests is fantastic. There are multiple episodes I’ve had to go back and re-listen to and take notes because they were so informative. Thank you!

    Love This Podcast!
I have been listening to this podcast for a couple of years and wanted to write a review (at last)! Kelly Anne Powers does a great job of finding accomplished artists to interview— many of whom I have already know and whose work I like, as well as artists who are new to me. The interviews are informative and inspiring. I’m always glad to have listened to one and often go back and listen to my favorites again.
  • Number Four in the USA
    Love this podcast
Every episode contains valuable information from interesting artists working in a variety of media and using different techniques. The interviewer asks important questions, gives her guests time to respond and does not intrude on her guests with irrelevant observations. Look forward to the podcast and wish it were more frequent in its offerings.

    Great guest artists and host
I’m trying to teach myself how to paint and came across this podcast. I would guess that this show is great for all levels of painters. The guests are so fun and enthusiastic. The host asks great well thought out questions. The show has a nice flow I couldn’t find with other painting podcasts. The best part of this show for myself as a new painter is how each guest artist motivates you. While helping you to stay positive. That’s so important to me as a beginner. They’ve help me realize I’m on a journey that will only get better with time. Thank you!!

Absolute GOLD for artists of all levels
Had to write a review because this wonderful podcast so deserves all the stars! As a beginning painter, discovering this podcast really did feel like I had struck gold. Kelly Anne Powers asks such insightful questions that get to the absolute heart of each artist’s experiences, motivations, techniques, work practices, philosophies and so much more. Bright, inspired conversations with incredible artists of all types of media. I am learning about artists I had never known (so glad that I am!) Enlightening to visit their websites and see their artworks. I am treasuring each episode, and know that I will go back and listen to them again.

The Podcast I’ve Been Dreaming of
Honestly this podcast is so perfect. Kelly asks all the right questions. I’m a mom of two little kids, so my actual painting time is limited, but this podcast helps me feel inspired and like I’m actually gaining something in my down time. Love it, and please keep ‘em coming!!

    Such a Great Podcast
I throughly enjoy every interview on this podcast. There is so much wisdom in each of these interviews. Kelly’s questions are spot on and the conversational style is entertaining. Each episode is a gem and I look forward to every episode.

    Several workshops worth of how-to
This is one of the most useful podcasts out of the many I listen to. Although the focus is painting, there is a lot of crossover with other art/craft pursuits. There are many ideas and tips for how to start and keep working, gain confidence in your ability, and find your own creative slant. Kelly Anne Powers is an ideal host. Her pleasant voice, intelligent questions and habit of letting the guest respond fully mean you get the most from each episode. The artists on the show work in many different mediums and styles, and all are generous in sharing detailed lessons on color, values, composition, materials, and tools. You will learn a lot from listening.
