Detective Trapp

8,560

Anaheim investigator Julissa Trapp is not like other detectives. She’s the only woman on the homicide squad, and a skilled chameleon: undercover cop in vice stings, crime-scene commander, patient confidante of killers. A master interrogator, she invokes her personal experience – and deepest griefs – as a tool to elicit confessions. When a young woman’s body is found at a trash-sorting plant, Trapp learns the murder may be linked to the disappearance of three other women in nearby Santa Ana. Trapp embarks on a dark journey that brings her face to face with a man who takes “a little piece of her soul.” The series is about a singular detective on a relentless, sometimes lonely quest for answers. From the Los Angeles Times and Wondery, “Detective Trapp” is a new story from Christopher Goffard, the writer and host of “Dirty John.”

    Amazing podcast!
I’m in love with Detective Trapp’s story and demeanor! She is the definition of a victim’s advocate and a lioness in the interrogation room! Keep up the great work! This is one of the best podcasts I’ve had the opportunity to listen to!

Mansplaination of a WAAAAY TOOO Drawn Out Story
I can’t tell what year this was made, but the story really should have been told by a woman. This narrator is all over the place with random story bits about the detectives life. TMI about the detective trying to get pregnant and other random bits about the detectives struggle as a female. It seems like the storyteller couldn’t decide if the story was about how hard it is to be a female detective, or the missing women the detective is tracking down. The result is that the narrative goes everywhere at once, and every episode is padded by tons of random detective background. And several women’s stories are mansplained by some dude. The narrator is a great storyteller, but this was way too padded and the wrong story for them.

    I need more please
Great show, I didn’t want it to end. It was too short.

    Overly Religious
I have no issue with Trapp’s religion being brought up as it is an important part of her character, but to a certain degree is this a true crime podcast or pg 13 veggie tales? We have very little information about the victims and the two suspects but we have a whole segment about a prayer she said.

    Amazing!
Christopher Goffards is my favorite journalist/author/podcaster/story teller. Detective Trapp is an amazing woman and I love that her story and the missing women’s story was told so well!

    One of the best
One of my favorite podcast ever! Thank you detective Trapp for your service, and thank you to the podcast world for telling her story. I hated for this one to end.

I just didn’t relate to Trapp
As much as I tried to connect to this character, I couldn’t. That’s really the only reason why I didn’t enjoy this one. While she may be passionate and hard working, and trying to bring closure to “the mothers”, she was also a country music listening lady cop who seemed to somehow reject things like “hip hop” or things she seemed were reflective of her culture. Almost ashamed. To me that really framed her as someone I wasn’t really rooting for. I dunno. Loved dirty John, didn’t care for this one.

    Loved
I loved everything about this Podcast. It moved fast but yet gave great details and insight about the process of solving the murders. Not too much focus on the evil SOBs who did the murders but focused on the incredible hero, Detective Trapp, who solved them.

    Amazing story telling
This was a A story I would never have heard though may be have seen on TV but not to this extent. You hear the voices of the characters and you realize that every human being is flawed but some to the extreme. Thank you for this story.

    Everybody counts, or nobody counts.
Hey Orange County, you’re nowhere near broke and the city of Anaheim most certainly isn’t, for one thing they charge the D-land tourists countless extra taxes for literally everything, so how about you find those poor girls and return them to their families, okay?? Suppose some white Chapman students got murdered and thrown out with the trash, would they still be lying out there in the landfill?? Please, you need to do the right thing here. To quote the fictional character Detective Harry Bosch: Everybody counts, or nobody counts. EVERYBODY COUNTS, OR NOBODY COUNTS.

    Great Story - Terrible Storytelling
While I am very greatful that this am amazing detective was highlighted and the dedication to solving cases others would forget about was wonderful. I feel like I didn’t get any of the details? I didn’t really understand how she got her suspects, how she brought them to justice, or even what the two men were being accused of - murder? Or sex trafficking? I don’t feel like I even remember any of the victims name which means they were likely only mentioned once or twice. Dirty John was WAY better. This sounds like it easily could’ve been a longer more detailed podcast and six episodes feels like it was canceled mid production.

    Bingeworthy
Completely gripping. The host never gets in the way of letting the protagonist tell her story, but guides the listener through the story. The audio of the police interviews is amazing. Thoroughly researched, well-produced. You’ll sit in the driveway just to keep listening!

    Decent but confusing at times.
It was decent but the storyline jumped around too much for me. It was hard to follow the storyline. I hung in there and finished the season, but was not super impressed.

Absolutely amazing podcast & an incredible detective
I cannot find words to describe probably one of the most amazing person on this planet Det. Trapp. My heart just goes out to you and I believe you are 100% correct on why God put the passion in your heart to do what you do. It’s horrible the things you see and hear and again my heart goes out to you. You take what you do to an entirely new level the empathy and I believe love you have for your victims & their families I don’t know what to say. I can say that I promise to pray for you everyday that God will shine His Grace upon you and that He also shines His Grace upon your husband as well because what you do can really affect a marriage. I hope one day you are showered with more blessings than anyone person has ever received because YOU Det. Trapp are a pure blessing to all of us. May God keep you safe and you find peace in your heart to process the atrocities you encounter. I’m sure many will agree with me when I say we do Love you and are thankful & inspired by you! Please take care.
