Blown away by The Creative Process
I absolutely love The Creative Process. Its constantly challenging the frontier logic that taught me how to distinguish between art, literature, social science, and STEM. Too often it feels like creative and scientific production occupy totally different dimensions of our lives. How will we ever innovate if this continues to be the case? The interdisciplinary exchange and dedication to collapsing diehard intellectual binaries that defines this podcast series is not just fascinating, it’s teaching us how to pool together our conceptual resources and innovate.

Each episode is a masterful blend of arts, culture, and environmental consciousness, shedding light on how these realms intersect and influence each other. The host navigates the complexities of intersectional environmentalism with finesse, weaving it seamlessly into discussions about books, film, music, art, and writing. This approach not only broadens the scope of environmental discourse but also enriches our understanding of the creative arts. The podcast effectively highlights how environmental issues are deeply embedded in our cultural and artistic expressions, and vice versa. What captivates me most is the podcast’s ability to connect environmental activism with the creative process. It showcases how artists, writers, filmmakers, and musicians are responding to and influencing environmental discussions. This intersectional approach brings a fresh and necessary perspective to both environmentalism and the arts, emphasizing the power of creative expression as a tool for awareness and change. They urge listeners to think critically about their environmental impact and the role that arts and culture play in shaping our relationship with the planet. David Fenton, Activist's Media Handbook
Before listening to his podcast episode, I had no idea who David Fenton was, but I definitely plan to keep an eye out for him as I continue to learn more about the climate crisis. His views on effectively mobilizing the public mind to promote environmental reform is relatable yet fascinating. He emphasizes using existing mental frames to transform the language and imagery around climate change and promote discourse from all sectors of the community. If everyone can agree that pollution is a bad thing, why aren't we all on the same page about what to do? Fenton presents reasonable solutions that require dramatic shifts in thinking from different influential groups, mainly the activist community. Not only should they be focusing more on mass awareness and unity rather than tackling specific structural issues, but we should diminish practices that enforce the Enlightenment Fallacy, preventing the proper dissemination of relevant ideas in support of distinct ideas about about climate change.

    What a Wealth of Inspiration!
As someone who’s been really grasping at straws for inspiration for a while and even feeling a little bit of writer’s block, this has been a wonderful deep dive into the many different processes of thought and inspiration that an artist could have. It’s especially touching to hear the interviews talk about their relationship to the artist being interviewed and discuss how their work impacts their own. These interviews are straightforward, honest, and calm. The guests talk about their work seemingly with a lot of ease and freedom, and all the questions are posed so intelligently and intuitively. Clearly these are not just interviews but discussions from one creative person (or more) to another.

    The Creative Process—Books
As with all of the Creative Process’s channels, the multifaceted interviews that this podcast produces fosters a fruitful dialogue between many aspects of arts, culture, and society; compiling the voices of the hosts, co-hosts, anchors, and—foremost—the artists themselves, the Creative Process forges a space that encourages diverse perspectives, a surfeit of artistic approaches, and a commentary on contemporaneous issues, all distinct within the throughline of this project at large! Definitely worth a listen!

    A Lesson In Curiosity
Not only is this podcast both deeply engaging and informative, but the conversations tend to feel like individual journeys. They’re not just simple back and forths, they’re a lesson in curiosity - in the power of exploring a subject collaboratively, as Mia does with each individual interviewee. All the while, the integration of young voices adds yet another dimension of intellectual exploration, enabling these discussions to also become opportunities for cross-generational learning.
  • Milenaroz
    Super informative and wonderful
I love the diverse guests this podcast welcomes! They do an excellent job of allowing listeners to get a first hand account in learning about the work of artists, filmmakers, and musicians. I really enjoy listening to the film related episodes, where many guests are vocal and honest about their experiences!
  • Henie Zhang
    Fantastic podcast
As a writer myself, I love how the Arts, Culture, and Society podcast cuts to the intersection of knowledge-production and creativity. Listening has especially made me think more about how a society embeds itself within its language and how this language is then deployed to serve the society’s purposes/ suit its needs—very scintillating material! The conversations are also absorbing and easy to follow, and presents especially thoughtful updates and pieces from the contemporary discourse on climate change which makes me reconsider my relationship with the planet. Since this podcast has really piqued my curiosity in various cultural subjects, I was thinking that it may be an interesting idea if the Podcast asked for some interview question submissions from listeners? I’m sure a lot of people in the listener crowd at large have questions about these pertinent societal issues that they want to ask experts, and it may foster some more listener-interviewer-interviewee interaction (in addition to the lovely existing platforms for contributing listener voices on the CP website) if the podcast featured some listener questions from time to time? Just an idea.

    Diverse Perspectives, Creative Minds
One of the things I appreciate most about the Creative Process is its openness to creative minds. The podcast is unusual in its scope - interviews from a diverse set of the top creative minds in arts, technology, media, environmentalism, philosophy, and spirituality among other fields of interest. Yet, what the Creative Process does really well is tie together these creative minds within a global project to educate, inform and protect the world for future generations. The production quality and music create an immersive experience, with consistent output of episodes. Each episode has a HIGHLIGHTS mini-summary if you’re on a rush and just want to digest the main points. I highly recommend the Creative Process to anyone that wants to learn from some of the greatest minds in the world.
