    New Light Burst Forth
The new like that burst forth wasn’t only in the First Vision, but through out the six episodes to which I just listened! I loved the serene and soft tones of these presentations. They were so easy to listen to that I needed to hear everyone. I learned some small detailsI had not known before. It just makes the whole story of the first vision come alive and deepens my appreciation and testimony of this great experience. not only am I blessed by this experience that took place in a grove in western New York but it has influenced millions and has brought them to the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints. Thank you so much I am looking forward to the episodes on the priesthood. This is been a very well done production.

    Great content average presentation
Great podcast full of good information. The somber tone of the podcaster is difficult to listen to. I'd rather he present his in information in a engaging way and then save his somber tone for somber moments.

    Beautifully done
What a well-made, beautifully written and executed podcast. Wonderful new insights from this historian’s research and interviews about The First Vision. I can’t wait for the second one, The Priesthood Restored, coming out in January 2021.

    Beautiful and majestic
We truly are watched over and loved by our savior and redeemer, Jesus Christ, and Father in Heaven. Love this podcast and it’s simplicity

    False prophet
He’s an adulterous false prophet. Not fit to even be an elder much less a prophet!
  • Zinnerfonda
    Total Fiction
It’s been proven, time and time again, that he story of Joseph Smith is full of lies and falsehoods. Smith made up a religion for person profit. Why can’t I go to a museum and see Lamanite archeological evidence?

    Faith Inspiring
Looking at the history and events of the time, the way people lived and experienced religion really gives context and explains why things happened the way they did. I am so glad they put this podcast together and it has strengthened my faith in God, Christ, and the restoration of the Gospel in our day. Thank you.

    Fascinating information!!
This is a wonderful, informative, historical telling of the history of Joseph Smith’sfirst vision. Loved it! Great details of what lead to this vision, and what knowledge we have of it and where those sources came from. So interesting!! Wish it were longer! Still great synopsis of it.

    A Golden Age
We are certainly living in a golden age of gospel scholarship. The ease of access to sources, productions, materials, and so on is matches only by their increasingly improving quality! The abundance of books, lectures, podcasts, institutions, publications, shows, and commentaries presents a wealth of knowledge, insights, opinions, research, and testimony reflecting the expertises, convictions, and passions active within (and near) the LDS Church today. Never has it been as easy to heed the commandments of D&C 88 than it is in these days. Discipleship and scholarship are truly rolling forth together, and it is nothing short of an embarrassment of riches at our disposal! I’m so pleased with this podcast!

    So enlightening
I’m not a deep thinker or gospel scholar and usually take things for face value. This podcast provided historical facts and insight in a clear way that gave the first vision a whole new meaning to me.

Love the content, can’t stand the transition music
5 stars for the content of this podcast, I love the research and depth here. My only complaint is the music that plays every 5 minutes when you are transitioning between topics. It is too loud and very out of place in the middle of the podcast. I would prefer to hear nothing, or much quieter music in between
  • cjhoemke
    So good
Great podcast with a lot of things I didn’t know about the restoration and first vision.... I also agree with the other review that I was hoping for more references other than BYU professors.

    Christians Beware
The Mormon church and the story of Joseph Smith is nothing more than the enemy trying to distort and add to the Lord’s already perfect work that was accomplished on the cross by Jesus Christ- the one and only Son of God- who came to earth, lived a perfect life, and was crucified on the cross as a perfect sacrifice and covering all the sins of the world- the. ROSE AGAIN ON THE THIRD DAY DEFEATING SIN AND DEATH FOR ETERNITY. That is the gospel and the good news!!! Through faith in Jesus Christ and what He did on the cross we are saved when we believe in Him in our heart and confess that belief with our mouth. Do not be deceived by the enemy trying to add to the word of God such as the visions of John Smith. The enemy can appear as an angel of light in order to deceive people and lead them away from the saving faith of salvation through the FINISHED work of Jesus the Christ on the cross and rising from the dead on the third day. Run from this lure of the enemy!! It is NOT THE TRUTH!!! Jesus is the way the only way to the Father!! The Mormon church uses this false doctrine to confuse and lure in lost souls. They make it sound a lot like Christianity on the surface, but the deeper you get, you find that it’s actually th work of the enemy and full of secrecy and ways of earning salvation!!! YOU DO NOT HAVE TO EARN SALVATION!!!! Jesus Christ already accomplished salvation for us- all we have to do is believe in FREE GIFT! We can’t earn it and we don’t deserve it- that’s why it’s a gift. Only Jesus could defeat sin and death- that’s why we are never good enough to get to Heaven without Him and His sacrifice. It’s that simple. Humble yourself be for the Lord and He will lift you up in due time. I pray that the lies of the enemy would be broken off of anyone who reads this and that the hearts of thousands upon thousands of Mormons would be set free by the truth of the finished work of Christ on the Cross!! Jesus is the only answer. He is the way the truth and the life. Romans 10:10, Acts 4:12, 2 Tim 1:9 God’s Blessings of Peace and Joy be with you!!

    Even better than people said
I’m about to start the third episode and I’m lovin’ it. Easy to listen to, perfect length, not the same old retelling, thought provoking, love the music and pace. This is just so soo good!

    Well put together
No doubt that some solid effort went into making this podcast, but I was a little disappointed at how bias it is. I was hoping for a mixture of inputs from members and non members, but this essentially felt like a BYU lecture series. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s why it has had so many reviews, because some BYU professors are recommending it. Again, I think the creators of this did a great job and likely achieved what they wanted, I’m just saying in my opinion I would have been excited for something with varying perspectives.

Great way to gain a better understanding of the First Vision.

    Interesting historical context!
I enjoyed the first 5 episodes of this podcast. The six episode was a bit of a departure from the others and it was not interesting to me. I recommend the first five episodes!

    Enlightening!
I really liked how this podcast was done. I learned a lot and it clarified some questions, but even more it left me with a desire to learn more. After listening I couldn’t help but find myself reading the Joseph Smith papers and all his accounts of the First Vision. And now after reading those, it makes me want to read all his journals. I’ve never dived into the history like this before and it fascinating.

    Awesome!
What a great tool to increase my understanding and testimony of the First Vision and the Prophet Joseph Smith. Especially as Pres. Nelson has encouraged a greater study prior to the April General Conference Bicentennial. Thank you!

    Well done!
Really enjoyed the mix of narration and interviews, and the podcast did a great job of balancing academic research with a gospel perspective. Educational and uplifting—the best combo.

    Needs new host
The content was good but the host’s cadence drove me bonkers. He talks as if he’s the smartest guy in the room and wants to make sure you know it.
  • I'm Chase…
Guests that use up-talk are distracting.
This is a good podcast, if a little fluffy. The sound track is a little too Kurt Bestor-ish, and the guest that does up-talk is a little too much. I was hoping this was going to be a bit more meaty but alas, it’s produced for the masses.
