StraightironCannot talk reconstruction without GrantCannot talk about reconstruction without bringing up Ulysses S Grant’s passage of the 15th Amendment and creation of the Justice Department to wage war against the first Klan who he defeated. Grant’s entire cabinet went to the capital to introduce the Ku Klux Klan of 1871. This war against the Klan was very real and Grant defeated this Klan which was the size of the confederate army. He was the first Civil Rights President. (Cancelled by Lost Cause propaganda)

sparkymeHistory to fall asleep to…(yes! Its a good thing)I just heard you mention moms using your podcast to help their babies sleep. Be proud! This insomniac/bedtime worrier has finally found the perfect educational podcast to shut off my racing brain & sleep. No drumming, few explosions & no dramatic war noises… Just History - soothing, interesting (but not “too” interesting) history - so grateful🥱😴🥰

pouygfdxgjuAbsolutely lovelyThis is one of my favorite podcasts! I am so excited when it starts back up! And I hope that it does. It has a very good narrator and it is very interesting although some episodes are very personally conflicting the narrator always warn you. It is very intriguing for history buffs and is told in the form of more than one person giving their opinions. And many episodes are put in the perspective of the time period and not entirely the perspective of the now. I personally love it and hope that it starts up again. It hits more than one subject, era, and perspectives. It does show other podcasts sometimes with is sometimes not desirable. But easy to bypass. If you try it it is not you have to start from the beginning for it to make sense. But I highly recommend starting from the beginning because it is all the more informative.
-
CNN-LiesRevisionist and inaccurate historyThe broadcasters conflict themselves within the facts of even their own broadcast. This is what happens when you try to rewrite history to fit your agenda. It uses the worst ideology of being historical and cultural relativistic as well. It also strangely sounds like a drunk history episode.

WW2 nerd (has other hobbiesOMG YESI would highly recommend this podcast! I am 12 yrs old and a ww2 (and 1900-1980s) nerd. This podcast covers a lot of parts in history, not only what I already know about, but what I have not yet learned! It is absolutely fascinating. I love Sally’s voice and the podcast format. I have ADHD and this podcast keeps me listening all way through! HIGHLY RECOMENDING. I LOVEE THIS PODCAST!

geryz1Thank youI didn’t discover this podcast till earlier this year. The history stories were well thought out and very listenable. My only negative is you all are signing off. Best wishes in your future endeavors.

DannggdanaMissing History This WeekI looked forward to the weekly stories from HTW. Since the discontinuation of the podcast, I’ve been searching to find something as engaging yet short, but nothing compares. I listened to this podcast regularly on my way to work, while cooking, and during my morning runs. I’m hopeful you all will come back, but until then I just want to say thank you! I’ve learned so much.
-
Lunatopia ProductionsWoke RevisionismSlat this pod any further left and you’d have to call it “The Peoples Revisionist History” podcast. Too bad Che Guevara isn't alive to host it.
-
MugetdeboisYou will be missed!Dear Sally Helm and crew, I hope you all get to come back with “new”, exciting tales from history. I was a faithful listener. It got me off to a great start in my morning routine. Thank you for giving us so many days of great podcasts about history this week! Best, J.L.D.

-
Mary RothschildPlease don’t go away- Transform into Peace History or history of marginalized groupsWe need something that reminds us and supplements education for those places that are restricting it. Case in point, resources: misz3milyx333 You Tube Channel peacebuttons.info We need a history that emphasizes peace, not war, in the spirit of Elise Boulding “Cultures of Peace: The Hidden Side of History” (2000)

SquadDadCome back!!Love(d) this podcast. Perfect length. Minimal commercial interruptions. Interesting choice of topics. Entertaining and enlightening. Please come back!!
-
rfomleyFavorite of mineI have to drive all day and of all the podcast I listen to this is my favorite it’s well researched and well told
-
DeacRippsHistory slightly slantedThis podcast always has a politically liberal slant. History can be told well without any political slant. The story of Nero paints the Circus Maximus as this Roman place of “entertainment” and the hosts laugh at the fact that Nero murdered “less noble people”. No mention that the Circus Maximus was where Nero, for entertainment, had thousands of Christians killed for their faith, I guess we are to laugh at that since Christians are “less noble”?

kevin80.Great podcast! Thanks for the fantastic show!
-
tcrazyhouse5Not nearly enough episodes! This is a great podcast. I’ve learned things I didn’t even know that I needed to know! I’m hoping you come back for many more seasons to continue to educate us. So much more to know!! Plus, Sally Helm has a great voice that’s easy to listen to

AngryByrdddSad it’s overI really liked the story telling format. It’s hard to find history podcasts that don’t annoy me with the format. And I liked the ladies voice. Great job guys! We will miss you!

heatherbc911LOVEI am in love with the podcast. You guys have my full ADHD attention the whole time, good job!🤣😎 But this southern man branching off into story after story has me laughing out loud at work! Well done guys, well sone indeed.
-
Conscious AnnieBest wishes and great jobI have so appreciated Sally’s lighthearted and warm treatment of these stories. While many of these historical tales tackle serious topics, I never feel mad or frustrated by the events because of Sally’s calm, intelligent and good-humored telling. In our current climate of discourse it’s rare to engage with any meaningful topic without feeling a charge. I have listened to many episodes multiple times and will continue to do so. Great job to the whole team and best of luck in your future endeavors (I haven’t given up hope that you’ll return!).
-
dakotajames17My favorite podcast! This podcast not only entertained me during long drives to visit my sick mother, but I also learned so much and fell in love with history! This is hands down my favorite podcast!

HistoryNerd45Best History Podcast Ever!!This is the best history podcast that I’ve listened too. Sally has the best voice ever and the stories you tell are captivating. I can’t tell how many times I’ve gone and read the books that were recommended in this podcast and how much I’ve learned. I hope you enjoy your break and I hope you come back. There is so much history to tell and I can’t wait to see what comes next!
-
Tricia_KellyFantastic to learnThis podcast has been something I look forward to listening to every Monday. I appreciate the guests and the work done to tell relatively unknown stories to the public. The earlier seasons are FANTASTIC! The Molasses Flood, Shaving Russia, The same sex couple and their baby, and the 9/11 water rescue are particularly amazing, but I could go on about many more. This podcast got me through the lockdown with a newborn and I we would listen together every Monday morning. I was hoping to continue with my new little one. PLEASE DON’T END! Your work is amazing and so greatly appreciated. Thank you for your hard work.
-
JsizzlePopCandyExplodeWill miss youI listen to many history podcasts and you are the only one with which i remain. You are one of the first and absolutely the best a l have found. There's a certain quality of the editing that says a lot in the short time and the voice of Sally is perky clear and inviting. I bet she is a great teacher. come back soon

Capital M. A.History This Week is remarkable. Each week I eagerly listen to an episode and learn so much! I’m grateful to the team that works diligently to produce each episode, finding just the right knowledgeable people to contribute their stories, researching the facts of the events, and conveying the details in a fascinating way. Thanks for all your efforts with this podcast. I do hope it continues.
