princessofthepeaRe/ interview with Dr. Jim CoanA dr who sounds like he has never deeply suffered relational trauma, waxing on about normal brains. Couldn't listen to all of it but I sincerely doubt he touches on the complexity of class, resource availability, repetitive wounding, environmental stress, or what real social rejection can do to a person. Not helpful to anyone with struggle that has impacted them all their lives.

SuperstumblerNARM ad podcastI went to the NARM website to read more extensively about the method and to look at data on efficacy. I was dismayed to find an (over)abundance of NARM products for sale. Clever packaging and self-promotion presents the unproven (even untested) methods into a supposed legitimate therapy.

mystisunshineHands down, my favorite podcastThis podcast introduced me to NARM and has inspired me to go back to school to become a therapist. I have learned so much about complex trauma and I fully resonate with the NARM philosophy and treatment approach. This podcast features diverse and incredible guests from so many different walks of life, who shed light on critical ways and places that trauma manifests in our worlds and experience and sheds light on meaningful, authentic, effective ways to help people process and heal. It’s a perfect intro for those somewhat new to the complex trauma realm but also eye opening for trained therapists and practitioners. Can’t say enough good things about this amazing podcast!

The AZ-EMTPRIVILEGE??You spoke on White privilege, and skinny privilege. Can you elaborate because that concept is completely contradictory to NARM. You are perpetuating misunderstanding and not understanding one another with those statements. Only perpetuating because you are not going in depth on your definition, and how that is tied to healing. You are awesome!! Seriously!

Jale71Enjoy content but presentation is too evangelical about NARMThe content is very interesting but the moderator is so into NARM that she promotes it like a religion. I would prefer the information presented without the hype.

The Creative ImpostorCompassionate, responsive, educationalThe team behind the podcast is dedicated to being a resource to listeners especially through challenging times such as we've been having globally in 2020. I've been learning so much as a layperson about intergnerational and complex trauma (which I never even knew was a thing before this) that I can see where it applies in my own life and the lives of people I love.

Jackie WerboffProfessional and personalI’m a LMHC who completed the NARM Practitioner Training in 2019. I work in a residential setting helping adult men heal from chemical dependency and trauma. I love everything about NARM and I really love listening to this Transforming Trauma podcast. My professional and personal approach to healing has shifted dramatically since day one of NARM training. I cannot speak highly enough of the NARM model for clients seeking therapy or for professionals seeking a model that can truly affect meaningful long term change for clients (& self!). Thank you to all who make this podcast possible.

icijeanTransforming Trauma gives hopeWith each episode of Transforming Trauma, I feel a greater and greater sense of hope for all people. It shows how there is a way to be with people, whether they are clients, family, friends, or community members. There is a way to hold space for their truth and their path and allow it to unfold organically. My life has been transformed by learning about NeuroAffective Relational Model and each episode of Transforming Trauma has deepened and broadened my own understanding of it. I am truly grateful.

Chicago FrogGroundbreakingOur growing understanding of the nature of developmental trauma is yielding profound insights regarding child development, parenting, culture and psychotherapy. Great progress is being made in answering questions like “What are a child’s most fundamental relational needs?” “What kinds of life-long compromises in mental and physical wellbeing often result when relational needs are chronically neglected or unmet?” and “What can be done to help persons who’ve suffered developmental trauma?” This podcast delves into the work of some of the world’s most knowledgeable, capable and skillful pioneers in addressing developmental trauma. It’s interviews are exceptionally rich, yet accessible to a general audience.

KnitLisaKnitReally informative!I've learned so much from listening to this podcast series. I love hearing the real life experiences shared by the people interviewed. It helps me get a better sense of how complex trauma presents and brings me hope to hear how others' are working with it to support healing in the world. As a counselor, this podcast also provides me with useful information to share with my clients. Hearing concepts of complex trauma addressed by a variety of people helps me be better at presenting these concepts to my clients in ways they can relate to, which makes our work together that much more effective.

MinziMinziTransformative Podcast!I love this podcast because I think transforming trauma is needed in our world more than ever before. Even though the topic of trauma sounds daunting, they do a great job focusing on how to heal and transform through trauma. It’s very engaging and inspiring! I appreciate how warm, honest, open and real Sarah and the guests are. I especially enjoy when guests explain how they use NARM in their own lives and with the people they work with. It inspires me to look at my life and my world in a different way, and gives me hope for our world.

CassW350Great way to learn more of NARM and its application in people’s livesI read Lawrence Heller’s NARM book and it was so healing. I was so excited when this podcast was released. The podcast expounds on the concepts presented in the book and offers insight in applying them to daily living and managing difficult emotions. I have no training in therapy/psychology and found the conversations grounded in laymen’s terms and relatable. The host has a kind way of summarizing more complex ideas for everyday folks. The last episode with Heller and Gabor Mate was excellent!

Aly_C94Transforming Trauma is changing the game!I’ll soon be starting my MSW program and hope to become a therapist. The Transforming Trauma Podcast has changed how I look at trauma and healing. Hearing how clinicians have put the NeroAffective Relational Model (NARM) to use in a variety of settings and contexts has expanded my idea of both trauma and therapeutic interventions. Big thanks to the NARM team for creating such engaging and personable content and not shying away from the hard stuff!

Aubree Vance Tovrea, LCSWAubree Vance Tovrea, LCSWI’m so thrilled that NARM started this podcast! I was already listening to Sara Buino, the host, on her podcast so it was only natural that I started this one. It has changed the way I do therapy. I listen on the day of the release on my way to work and feel so inspired to be working with people who have complex trauma. Can’t wait for the next episode!!

Tori.EssexFor anyone interested in healing traumaEven though I’m not a mental health practitioner, I still get so much out of the podcast. I love learning about how to heal from trauma and I love hearing the stories of others healing. This podcast gives me so much hope!

Leslee CookLeslee Cook, LMFTThis interview with two highly respected leaders in the trauma- informed psychotherapeutic world was exceptionally educative. Both Dr Larry Heller and Dr Gabor Mate shared similar views on how complex trauma develops. The dynamics of not feeling protected and seen during the child’s early formative years establishes the foundation for traumatic reactions both mentally and physically. The similarity in their approaches was refreshing. They agreed that the standardized CBD evaluative therapeutic approach is not the most transformative approach. Instead reflecting a compassionate and attentive trust in the client’s ability to explore their internal experience will lead the client out of their addictions, depression or whatever it was that brought them into therapy in the first place. I will now subscribe and look forward to more enlightening, innovative and leading edge discussions helping people, friends and our clients transform our trauma based reactions as we enter this global Post Corona Era.

Lynn KorstFamily PractitionerThe session with Larry and Gabor Mate was excellent. What a brilliant idea to get them together! I really liked hearing how they both deal with the dynamics of adaptive early shame and attachment. Thank you for creating this series!!
