Black Girl Missing

269

A podcast dedicated to telling the stories of Black girls (0-17) who have gone missing in the United States. Some have been found. Some are still missing. Some we have lost forever. Whatever her story, we want to tell it. We explore disappearances from their beginnings, going over timelines of events, looking at the evidence, and recounting witness testimonies. We dig as deep as we can to uncover the truth about their disappearances.

    Wowww….
I’m so glad you all created this podcast… please research “Nichelle McKnight”. Her story needs to be told, also.

    Important stories but…
I think it’s vital that these cases get attention but the constant bashing of law enforcement makes you look as judgmental as you blame others for being. It serves no purpose. Give the case details and maybe a few of your theories and leave the other stuff out. Also, quit talking over each other.

    Great Podcast
Thank you lovely black queen for keeping the missing, dark skin girl cases going. I listen to the podcast at work. The gems you ladies give on to better pay attention to your kids by knowing what the wear down to apps on their phone. How passionate y’all are about the missing girls. Keep up the good work queens. Because you know to the pink people black, dark skinned kids are just runaways.

    Great show!
I really appreciate the creators behind this show and all the hard work they put into it. It’s so informative and I love the creation of the Aisha Alerts.

    Just a suggestion
I think the podcast is great however I think it’s best to inform listeners when there will be a break or if that last episode was the season finale. I’ve listened to all episodes and I feel like there has been a shift in the amount of details and layering of the stories. Maybe consider giving longer than 30 minute episodes or break them up to cover everything. But good work!

    Small talk
I want to support them so bad like I do my other black crime pod cast but it’s to much small talk in between and I’m slightly getting a hood vibe from this channel
  • Jacks Onna Beat
    Nah
I want to support these sisters but I don’t like the conversational style. A topic this serious should be structured and a little more professional. Great topic, not so good delivery.
  • Charleo23
    No thanks
Too much small talk. Nobody wants to hear them talk amongst themselves. Get on with the podcast. Totally unprofessional and inappropriate!

    Great Listen
I’ve heard a lot of the girl cases multiple times prior to this because I’m just addicted to TrueCrime lol. But i absolutely love how in depth you guys go into these stories!

I love the way these queens interact. It's like sitting with family and talking about each event that occurred. Keep doing what you're doing! Love

Because black and brown children don’t get the attention as the white children, n I’m tired I appreciate ur efforts but I’m looking forward to doing a podcast like crime junkies n dateline for all the black missing children. I’m a nurse and mother so I’m working on this diligently boys and girls of color that’s what I’m doing trying to get backing but I will start On YouTube if I have to if u want to collaborate ok but I’m doing it either way so I a appreciate your focusing on r girls but it’s boys too

    Love it!!!
I really love to listen to the podcast but I’m a truck driver and it’s hard for me to listen then only time I can hear is when I’m about to call it a night so if you could speak a little louder that would be great and also keep up the good work since I am over the road I love to try to help find some of these missing girls and do what ever I can to help

Very important content being covered, but the audio quality needs serious improvement.

    This is amazing
A lot of black girls go missing and it always goes completely unnoticed and nobody covers it. I urge you to look into the Keshay Jacobs story from Richmond, VA.

    Powerful
These hosts are truly dedicated to this podcast. These stories inform us of such an important issue we are facing as a society & should be more aware of. This podcast truly made me realized and recognize the racial bias and the negligence these young black girls are shown in the media. Asa, Feminista, and Niki are the best hosts to be throughly explaining these cases and give diverse insight in their different interpretations. As a white woman, I thank you ladies for doing what you do and I will be telling anybody and everybody about y’all. Thank you.

    You NEED to subscribe
The hosts of this podcast don’t just do their due diligence when it comes to accurately reporting on our missing/murdered black girls, but they also pick up the slack of media and (in many cases) law enforcement when it comes to informing the public. As a mom and woman of color myself, hearing about any missing child is heartbreaking, but to know that our back babies and children of color are typically talked about less is not only heartbreaking, but is so frustrating! Therefore, I am so happy to have found a podcast that gives a voice to these victims and puts their names out there when they may have been forgotten or not known at all to begin with. Great job and THANK YOU, ladies 💛

    Subscriber.
Firstly, the hosts seem like amazing women. Secondly, I enjoy this podcast because it informs me of missing black girls, new and old cases, that I wouldn’t have heard of otherwise. Keep up the good work. Although these stories are heavy, they need to be heard!
  • HunneeSweet
    Thank you
There are a few things I would change but then I am just appreciative that this is even a subject matter being covered. Thank you ladies. Do whatever you need to do to keep sharing these cases.

    Hand Claps and Snaps
I thoroughly enjoy this podcast and I love that it is bringing attention to black and brown missing girls but also highlights the name of currently missing girls. My only caveat is that they remove the theme song and background noise. It’s very annoying to hear it in the background and it takes away from the quality of the sound.
  • babysnaakes
    Thankful for this podcast!
I love this podcast for focusing on the forgotten back girls who are victimized or go missing. The conversations always give thoughtful analysis of not only the crime, but the culture and circumstances which contributed to these girls being harmed. This is truly a podcast that is focused on the victims, rather than merely entertainment.
  • gemini_1976
    Much Needed but...
I wholeheartedly believe podcasts like this are desperately needed. With that said, the tone seems to do the same thing that you accuse law enforcement and the media of doing...judging the victims and their families. Please focus on the facts (and get them right), and less on your opinions.

    Amazing!!
I love this podcast!!! It is so amazing to hear a podcast that focus all on our black babies missing!! This so needed! Keep up the great work ladies!!

    Love the stories
I really think that these stories are very important. But I wish the stories would just be told. I don’t really need to hear what you think happened or why people do what they do. Sound like judgement sometimes. I usually just listen to the first 10 minutes then just google the case cause I can’t take it anymore
  • Deedee👑
    Different
I love y’all! Love how the stories are of BLACK girls! That’s what’s missing from these other true crime podcasts. The only thing is the music ... I loved when there was no background music because the music is a bit distracting. But other than that, nothing but praise!
  • MeekaLove
    Jokes aren’t cool
Overall I love the idea and work that you ladies are doing to put a spotlight on our missing girls but the side conversations and jokes can become a lot. I’m not sure of the person talking but the person who it was funny that a 9 year old missing girl had New Kids on the Block keeps making jokes/commentary that make feel uncomfortable and annoyed. This person also went on a short tangent about their mom writing her name on all the tags of her clothes and something else that escapes me at the moment but I notice that she keeps bringing the conversation back to her instead of the story and i find it to be disrespecting . She also made comments about a mom whose daughter was missing that came off as classist and respectability politics. Honestly she messes up the vibe sometimes

    brilliant !!
5 stars without a doubt. The hosts are brilliant, compassionate and great storytellers. Black Girl Missing is doing really important work in the true crime space where Black girls’ stories are underreported and overlooked. This podcast is SO well researched and actually discusses the structural racism in the policing and justice system that so often fails Black girls. I look forward to this podcast every week !!

    Really important and insightful
I love this podcast and am always waiting for the next ep - bringing needed attention to currently missing Black girls, deep dive and insight into cases of missing Black girls past and present, and calling out mishandling of cases and those who have done these girls wrong. Wonderful podcast, everyone should be listening!!

    Eye opening
I knew that lots of black girls and women were missing but I feel like I’m learning about so many more cases that I hadn’t heard of before. Literally, young women from cities right near me that I never saw on the news!!! Thank you ladies!!! I truly love listening and look forward to more cases. Keep up the great work!

    Much needed
About a month ago, I started listening to podcasts. Crime Junkie really caught my eye and that’s where my love of true crime came from. But. There’s an issue that I have noticed... there’s not a lot of black men and women being reported on like there are of white men and women. That’s an issue. Black or white, we need to take our family and friends seriously. Black lives matter. This is coming from a white woman and we need more more podcasts and beautiful women such as yourselves. 💜
