Taiwanese mandarin learning resources are limited, so this is a real gem. I’ve found it enjoyable and useful for years. Informative and personal, the 廢話 episode are actually great extensive listening practice for lower level learners while the more researched episodes are great for intensive listening and learning. I personally enjoy the challenge of deciphering her thickly accented family and their splash of 台語 before she translates.

good show but into music is unneceesary and annoying after 3 episodes

Being an ABC and speaking English to my mandarin-speaking parents, I can understand more than I speak. I just discovered this podcast and I love how she explains phrases in simpler terms so I can grasp the meaning. I’m going to start this whole series over from the beginning and hope I can feel more comfortable and confident speaking Chinese, especially to my non-English speaking relatives in Taiwan. Thank you for this podcast!!!

I imagine it’s a real challenge for the host to speak in such a slow, deliberate manner for us Mandarin learners, but it really makes a difference!

I spend hours listening to reach podcast multiple times followed by reading the transcripts on Jia-Yu's website. This had been hugely helpful to me. She speaks at a speed and with repetition that helps my intermediate-level Chinese skills. While I don't catch every word, I definitely understand enough to enjoy her interesting stories.

This podcast has been so helpful. It’s easy to memorize vocabularies and learn grammar but it’s much harder to practice listening. This podcast makes it so much easier because the topics are easy to understand with simple language. I like to slow the speed to 0.5 speed and listen and comprehend. Thank you for this show.
