NgillcristTSICU RNI have been a nurse in the Trauma Surgical ICU for 7 years. With this podcast I have gained insight on the surgeon’s perspective but also on the perspective of the team as a whole. I realize that my ACS level 1 Trauma center has a long way to go- I enjoy keeping up on what is current practice through this podcast and hope to improve my own practice.

jpdigerolamoGreat ContentIf you’re even remotely interested in acute care surgery or emergency medicine, I can’t recommend this podcast highly enough. I’m currently an EMT studying pre-med, so these podcasts are a steep learning curve at times. Dr. Dennis Kim is an excellent instructor and interviewer; he’s succinct, organized, and still humble as he pulls from a wealth of knowledge. You’ll find yourself listening to episode after episode in no time. Much of what I see at the level I trauma facility I work in leaves me eager to learn more and understand the “why” behind the care that is provided. This podcast is an invaluable resource that I’ve shared with fellow techs and nurses who also want to deepen their knowledge of trauma care. It has allowed me to become a better student of medicine. I’m equipped to ask better questions when I get to work with surgeons in the ED. They, in turn, light up at the chance to share what they know. Big shout out to Dr. Kim and the whole team behind Trauma ICU Rounds. Keep the content coming!
-

NickLaconiGreat for surgery trainingAs a surgery resident, I really enjoy each episode of Trauma ICU rounds. The subjects are always topical and immediately relevant to both my education and clinical practice. I appreciate the presentation of both evidence-based practices and technical pearls from content experts contributing to the show. The episodes are long enough to provide robust information on topics without becoming long winded, making it a perfect podcast to listen to while commuting to and from the hospital.

UgarteMDUgarte Harbor-UCLA General Surgery ResidentListening to Dr. Kim's rounds syndicated internationally feels like when your favorite band gets discovered and you hear them on the radio. I have had the absolute privilege of traning under Dr. Kim whether treating the critically ill ICU patient, consulting on the ED patient needing emergency general surgery, and watching him orchestrate the Trauma Bay during a massive resuscitation. It has been remarkable seeing the lessons of his podcasts translated into real life cases. Dr. Kim has an incredible gift of bringing evidence based care to urgent and emergent scenarios. Dr. Kim is truly a titan of trauma sugery and these podcast episodes are a gift. As one of his residents, I have to say you are very lucky to get Dr. Kim's bedside teaching right to your ear any time you want!

If you are looking for high quality content that is actually interesting, relevant and easy to follow, this is the podcast for you!! John Sheppard, MDEssential critical care podcastI HIGHLY recommend Trauma ICU rounds to any medical student or resident interested in building a foundation for understanding core principles in critical care medicine. Dr. Dennis Kim is an experienced clinical educator on the faculty at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and director of the surgical ICU at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. Along with thousands of other trainees, I’ve been privileged to learn under Dr. Kim in the classroom as a student at UCLA’s David Geffen School of Medicine, and on the trauma service as a resident at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, a Level 1 Trauma Center for LA’s South Bay. Trauma ICU Rounds succinctly delivers key clinical pearls in management of ICU patients and ties them to core concepts of systems physiology. His ability to simplify and break down basic principles in ICU management and explain them in terms of core anatomy and pathophysiology promotes retention of material through understanding. Dr. Kim brings a unique surgical perspective to intensive care, with decades of experience as a trauma surgeon and clinical faculty at an academic Level 1 trauma center. Trauma ICU rounds has helped me immensely on my critical care rotations during internship and I recommend it for any student or resident regardless of speciality.

PA TimGreat refresher and learning experienceI really enjoyed how in-depth Dr. Kim goes into his topics as it helps me understand and realize what level of detail and thought process one must have to understand a topic instead of just straight memorization. Rainbow TarumotoA Comprehensive Review of ICU FundamentalsI have really enjoyed listening to the in depth teaching Dr. Kim provides in this podcast on a variety of essential ICU and trauma topics. He not only reviews pathophysiology, but provides clinical pearls of wisdom that can be applied to improving patient care. I believe his podcast should be integrated into new resident training as it will really help the residents provide Evidence Based Practice. I think this podcast is also good for experienced clinicians looking to brush up on their knowledge as well.
