I actually enjoy this podcast. I think Kyle and the guests are informative in giving context into Oscar races, and as someone who hasn’t seen a lot of the older performances yet, I appreciate the insight. The reason why I’m giving three stars is specifically due to the conversation about Ma Rainey and specifically Chadwick Boseman. I completely understand if you didn’t like the movie or get anything out of it. All that is fair. What I don’t think is fair is saying that if Chadwick won the Oscar it would’ve only been bc he died. As someone who has no problem with Anthony Hopkins winning, I think It’s just a weird thing to say. Chadwick gave a fantastic performance regardless of his passing and to boil it down to him only getting rewarded because he had cancer is disappointing. Just bc y’all didn’t like the movie, doesn’t mean that other people didn’t, and I think it’s fair to assume that some people could genuinely like Chadwick’s performance more than Anthony’s. I don’t think y’all were coming from a malicious place when saying that but I do hope that you can be more mindful in the future about how you express certain things.
