Cali Lili Indies ™pwMiM™ feMt0“Kino is AWESOME 💕 like meeting a new friend & rediscovering my more peaceful self “I’m sharing a quote about Kino written by an artist named Cali Lili - because this called my attention to Kino’s work : “As a dancer who was also a teenage practitioner of yoga (as well as having been a teenage yoga teacher myself) I’m always aware that everyone is both a teacher and student at various times of day, various times of the year and various times in our lives. Kino recently came into my consciousness at a time when extra stress from current events & scheduling my own work - was becoming a REALLY big problem. Kino reminded me of my more peaceful self. The self I bring to my art , the self I share with others - in compassion- but which I forget too often, to bring to my … self. Self compassion and self care … are too often dismissed … and it’s an amazing moment when we can accept, that this type of gentle kindness, toward self, is equal to the kindnesses we bestow outside ourselves…thank you Kino. Thank you universe.”

BongoddessIf you’re a yoga student/teacher the podcast is an amazing recourse!I’ve never felt so compelled to leave a review than after listening to todays episode #114 A Call To Ahimsa and a Prayer For Peace in Ukrainian. I’ve also never felt so proud to call Kino my teacher. Although we’ve only met in person one time I knew that her gentle yet firm way of teaching worked for me. I can easily understand the teachings of the eight fold path and with sustained practice it gets easier and easier but today was different. Today Kino is raw emotion and it is felt deeply. I sobbed as I listened but thankful to be here listening from a safe place as our brothers and sisters fight a war. I’ve stayed clear of the news before today because I know it doesn’t serve me too be so upset, afraid , angry at the situation but Kino explains what is happening in a way that I can hear it and pray/meditate/practice not only ahimsa but the other limbs of the practice SO that I may serve others without passing on fear/anger etc. I can’t wait to someday visit my teacher Kino in the new space in Miami! Peace and Love to all!

33whiskeyA must listen for yogisKino’s podcast is amazing. So nice to be able to receive teachings through Kino via this podcast. Episodes are packed with so much good information on the practice and philosophy of yoga. I often have to go back and replay episodes when I am not doing other things (driving, etc.) so that I can take notes of stuff I want to learn more about. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us Kino!

cats19932010Wonderful podcast, but 1 concernI love Kino and I love this podcast, but I have noticed that sometimes Kino uses an Indian accent. This feels a bit odd and distracting at times.
-
CoreydreidyWonderful and inspiring with one small caveatI love Kino so much and find her a deep source of wisdom. She’s an inspiration to practice and is just so smart. I do wish she didn’t put on an Indian accent though in her talks - I find it incredibly distracting and appropriative. This is meant to be a gentle call in to her to hopefully stop doing that. But I do think she’s great and an inspiration.

TropcialismSFKnowledge and wisdomKino is an incredible guide who brings her whole self to her teachings. She shares so much of the yoga lineage as well as her her bits of wisdom that she has accumulated over the decades. I especially loved hearing about her journey as a biracial Japanese American grappling with the legacy of white supremacy in America and also as a yogi. To be sure, this isn’t a focus of her podcast but I really do appreciate hearing from voices of color who are leaders in the Western yoga world because the wellness community also has a role to play in bringing healing to our fellow Americans who are in pain. Kino’s podcast is perfectly titled because she herself is a yoga inspiration.

Pacific NavigatorFreedom to practice yoga in today’s political environmentToday was the first time Of listening to Kinos podcast about voting and the importance of voting. The first time listening to Kinos podcast. I listened to it at the yoga studio where we can still practice yoga without condemnation with freedom to practice what we want. She brings out why we need to vote. Now I want to listen to all of her other podcast and I’m so excited I can’t wait like a kid in a candy store. Smart intelligent and a yogi. Yay

Erika CarlsonThank you!Thank you so much for this episode! It was wonderful to hear Angelica’s experiences in both the dance and yoga worlds. I too started out in dance before eventually fin dining my yoga practice, but did not fit the ballerina image who wanted to make it in the NYC ballet arena. I had a very large chest and not one leotard was ever made for my body type. I felt so uncomfortable in my own skin that I eventually had a breast reduction to fit the mold of what I should look like. Now as a mom of a 14-year old girl athlete with a big chest, I see the same biases being put on her. Some of the moms comment about her chest size on the sidelines and I really have to shut it down and communicate that their bias is so damaging to a young teen. It is astonishing that these adults are unaware of their biases since these are the same people who are for women’s equality in athletic pay, but yet are smashing those very girls with their own bias. I agree with Angelica that companies are now starting to provide athletic clothing for different shapes and I too have found that Athleta is kind of leading the way in providing sports bras for all shapes. I want my daughter to be happy with her body. So thank you both so much for diving into so many issues that affect so many 🙏🌟. I so appreciate it 😊.

KatsuaveFirst two episodesI’ve thoroughly enjoyed your podcast. I have not yet tried Mysore and I think I did Ashtanga only once. I have been hesitant, in part for fear of beginning it at home during quarantine. I feel more comfortable getting ready to explore, from heating your story. Thank you for sharing. You are open and transparent about your journey and it inspires me.

YogaStatsGirlInspired to get back on my matI’ve been a student of yoga for over 20 years and have been teaching for about 10 years. Even as a teacher, I need some inspiration to commit to my daily home practice and to recommit to studying yoga philosophy. During this quarantine, I decided to recommit to my study of yoga and read Kino’s book on ashtanga yoga in a day. I also started practicing with her online and found the inspiration that I was craving. If you are looking for a deeper understanding of yoga or needing a boost of inspiration, then I highly recommend this podcast. You will be inspired and continue to be amazed by the healing power of this beautiful practice. Thanks Kino!
-
