FashionandFaithHope + History = PerfectionThis podcast delivers. I’m not surprised, given that I devour everything Jon Meacham does, but I had to write a quick note praising the quality of this podcast. (I’m happy to see the History Channel getting back to its roots. They had me worried for a while there!) Give us more!
-
deven bergeronThank youI absolutely envy Jon Meacham. He is very knowledgeable and I always love listening to what he has to say. I have listened to every single episode and have been absolutely INTRIGUED in every one of them. John meacham is incredibly smart and so interesting in his explanation of history! Very charismatic to me due to his intelligence ! I also like Michael bechlas (SP?) love these 2 great historians loved every minute

LisaBTrainerFun LearningI usually have trouble staying focused on anything audible—books and such—but Jon Meachum’s Hope through History has captured my attention. I look forward to listening every day. It’s usually my morning listen, and I’ve begun listening while running/walking. Looking forward to the next series: It Was Said.

ACizzle#35Wish I had more!Like a great book you can’t put down, I wish I could sit and listen to this podcast all day! Meachums delivery is fantastic, and the accompanying music is spot on as well!

je silverHope through HistoryLoved this podcast, insightful-great story telling and Meacham’s delivery is bang on. (I also thought the background music encapsulated the title/the theme incredibly well).

Blank salableGreat show, needs a different narraterThis show is really captivating but they need a new narrater because he’s so monotone and his deep voice makes you want to pass out.
-
TheGeekLPBeautifully Raw and Inspiring RefectionsI loved this podcast. John Meacham’s brilliance in spoken word is as powerful as it is on written page. HTH is a captivating, informative immersive dive into some of America’s greatest challenges — thru a lens of perspective that inspires hope in the most crazy times. It’s full of powerful storytelling, primary source narrative from esteemed historians…and a whole vault of original soundbites I had no idea even existed! So great 🙏

aeaton41One of my favorite podcasts!I love his voice!!! And I love history! This podcast is perfect. Hearing the episode of Bloody Sunday was chilling. I knew of this story but not this in depth. This country was just terrible for black people then. How did any of them live with themselves hating people for the color of their skin? So sad. Thank you Jon for telling important parts of history.

jcamp6890The failing ny timesThe second I saw this was related to the failing ny times I knew it was a bust.
-
jaypeegee55HopefulThere’s no one I would rather listen to than Jon Meacham. And probably no one else could do as much justice to this theme as him.

Pocono mamaCarolDr Fauci? Please give me a break. He is at least partly responsible for millions of deaths around the world for funding gain of function research from US tax dollars.
-
GregorydarianBiased HistoryMeachem is no historian. He is a partisan hack who has lost all legitimacy when his secret partisan far left extremist work was revealed.
-
Mary ModerateFills in the blanks! This podcast fills in the blanks from bits of history that I am familiar with but never really studied in much detail. The more contemporary topics gives texture to events I lived through, but was busy raising a family and nourishing a career to get the details and rich background! I love to listen while mowing, gardening and doing daily tasks as a public school teacher retiree in rural Missouri. I crave the sanity and inspiration this podcast provides! Thank you!!
-
book horrorA true sources of hopeI'm eager to learn about American history. It makes me feel true hope how Joe Mecham presents the positive aspects of American History. It let me see the good under all the current events.
-
SoupNazi312Far too partisanI’ve listened to several episodes and it is clear the narrator feels the need to insert partisanship commentary which clearly aligns with Democrat talking points. Shame.
-
Pinto11A Teacher for us allWith every episode, it’s like us listeners have a clear understanding of everything that is highlighted and explained. Each episode is crafted so well that by the end, you want to listen to the next, or know what happened next in the years after the event that was featured. Season 1 got me emotional in a few points, and Season 2 started off with a bang, also. I sincerely hope that this podcast continues for seasons and seasons to come. Citizens of all ages can benefit from the history that is told and explained in this podcast.
-
dngrmouse4000StellarI could listen to Jon Meacham read the telephone book for hours, but hearing him explain and analyse American history in such detail is a true pleasure. The episode “Death At Sea,” about the sinking of the Lusitania, especially the very beginning, is one of the most beautifully written and read history lessons I’ve ever come across.

sir skimahTrue American HistoryThis podcast share what others pay for in books. Very well narrated.

Pesto Dougtrue history buffAverage content with a decidedly leftward slant. Too bad.

Serpno11Brought me to tearsJust heard the Bloody Sunday episode and it was beautiful. The excerpt of LBJ’s speech combined with the speech of John Lewis at Selma before he died were so touching. It reminds me of the best about our country. The line that billy clubs, horses and tear gas were no match for love and non-violence stopped me in my tracks. Well done, sir.
-
latichesterBiased analysisI do not appreciate your political commentary. It is a shame, It ruined it for me.
-
AlhdayAnnoyingToo bad you can’t just present history. You ruin it with political garbage!!
-
dylanator247Leftist propagandaThis podcast beats odd furiously to DNC talking points
-

History Teacher 9Ronald Reagan final speechI really enjoy this podcast, as a former history teacher I enjoy hearing about history our history books devote little words. However, I do not appreciate the political commentary. You tell the history, I will fit it into my political view.
-

Finnegan the Irish Wonder CatThank you from MichiganThere are precious few opportunities to listen to a fact-based, authoritative summary of history-especially at such an important moment in our own history. Thank you, Professor M! And know that we who seek truth and are living in a reality based on demonstrable facts are deeply grateful for your talents!

Nv123456789So much potential... but foolish parallels to modern presidentsReagan was a great president. No president will ever win 49 states again. Way too negative pretending to create nuance where there was none. And there is no need to make useless and irrelevant comparisons to Trump. Trump, Kennedy and Reagan all hated establishment government. More in common than not.
-
jschien1Maga1 star for dumping on Trump
-
Wings4WomenReagan’s Farewell AddressGenerally I like most of these podcasts for their content - but, specifically did not like this one for the personal - political slant of the commentator as to comparisons (in the negative context) to President Trump’s speeches- I.e., relative to border crisis… Because the truth is we do have a major southern border crisis in 2021, as we did all throughout the Obama/Biden administration. If your personal opinions are such that 7.5 million offenses (according to G.A.O. during 2011-2016) committed by illegal aliens, costing US taxpayers 15 Billion to imprison these criminals... then your journalism is swayed by your personal political position & that’s no longer journalism... it’s jaded opinion.
