    Great wine content!
New to wine. Just took a trip to Napa and left with motivation to learn. Listened to about 10 episodes in a row on the flight home and loving this podcast!

    Love!
I really enjoy this wine podcast and I think Keith has a great way of both providing a lot of content and detail, yet keeping it simple and easy to understand. Bravo!

Bill NYE the Science Guy But Better…
Because we’re talking about wine & making sense in the best, most naturally understood way! Love finding this podcast and can’t wait to listen again & again! Especially with biology majored fiancé! We’ll finally make sense in his language what I’ve been talking about with my tastings! Love the logo, music, collaboration, sponsors, partnerships, shout outs & all! True inspiration! Cheers @pour_atlanta #awineaffairpodcast

    Love this show
I’ve been listening to the show for years now! Keith is such a great host and the structure of each episode is great. This has helped me incredibly on my own wine journey. I’d just remind Keith that Thomas Jefferson might have been important to US wine, but he was a slave-owning trash human being who allowed his own children to live in slavery, so let’s be careful not to lionize him too much. Also loved the Temecula Valley episode, but won’t be spending my money there at any winery until the neo-Christi-fascist Temecula Valley school board is replaced.

    Great basic understanding
What an awesome pod! Really a great way to get deep but not lost in the very fundamentals of wine culture.

    Latest episode turned me off
There is nothing wrong with learning wine through experience or through certified education. Keith saying that WSET is an expedited education to get in and out is far from the truth and depending on who you ask WSET has a harder blind testing requirements to become a Master of Wine as opposed to a Master Sommelier. WSET 4 diploma also takes many years of studying to pass and is no easy feat. At worst this comes across as dumping on the WSET program and at best it comes across as an uninformed opinion. Another wine podcast similarly has a host who has decades of bar experience, but has a chip on their shoulder when asked if they’re certified. You don’t need a special school or piece of paper to tell you that you know things, but it can be helpful to have people in the industry on a similar conversational level. I had a wine rep who knows a lot about wine show me wines one day and out of curiosity I asked if the wine was made through carbonic maceration. I wasn’t trying to show off, but the wine had a lot of these characteristics and it is not common for this style of Italian wine to be made carbonically. He looked at me with confusion then gave an answer that made no sense. He knows farrrrr more than me about Italian wines. It was not supposed to be a trick question, but it made the interaction awkward because two of my coworkers were there and I thought it would be even more rude to explain. I just let it go and moved on. Perhaps I’m being over critical for a podcast called 101.

    LOVE this podcast!
This is such a fabulous and well-informed dive into the world of wine. Keith is quite engaging and fun — I love his approach to sharing such technical information!
  • Can't search.
    Love this podcast!!
I stumbled upon this podcast while looking for ways to learn about wine. I started from episode 1 and have been loving the journey! I’ve already learned so much. The show is a little bit corny but I like corny and it keeps you engaged and helps you remember all of information. The host has a wealth of knowledge and gives just the right balance of science, history, jokes, and recommendations. HIGHLY SUGGEST!!

    Good for WSET 2 reminder
Studying for my WSET level 2 and this is very helpful for reminders. Thanks

Loved the northern and southern Rhône episode!
I’m visiting Châteauneuf-du-Pape in a few weeks; it was great to get started with a history of the Rhône regions. I’m looking forward to listening to additional wine 101 episodes.

    The Best Wine Podcast
This wine podcast is a winner for the newbie and wine enthusiast alike. Keith has a very engaging and inviting way about him and truly tries to make the complexities of wine available and understandable for all who are interested. I listen and re-listen to the podcasts and learn something new every time. This podcast is an absolute must for anyone interested in wine.

    A must-listen!
Keith covers everything in the wide world of wine, but in a fun, educational, and approachable way that everyone can understand and enjoy! Thanks so much for putting out such a spectacular show Keith - keep up the great work!

Educational and Fun! Would Love to See a Smidge More Deep Diving...
Fun and casual podcast that explains a good deal about many different wine topics. Wine For Normal People is my favorite wine podcast. It deep-dives much further than Wine 101, however Keith’s delivery and charm definitely sell this podcast! Also, it’s great to hear much of the same information from two to three different sources so that it’s both re-enforced and also you’ll occasionally get info that you didn’t get from one of the other sources. My only gripes: The American Red Blend show didn’t even mention Meritage, the borderline scam of the California wine world. The Chile episode just made Carmenere a footnote at the very end of the podcast when it’s a huge grape there and its connection to Bordeaux and phylloxera should have been talked about! Also, many pronunciations are very strange... and I don’t mean obscure words in other languages but some of the very common language has odd pronunciation. All-in-all, I do really like the show and will hit the next episode right now! Oh and one of the reviews mentioned how he rambles about other stuff? I don’t find this to be the case. He likes to mention one non-wine thing right at the beginning but usually talks about it for 10 seconds to maybe a minute, tops. I like that. Breaks things up a bit. Thanks Keith!
  • salib23
Solid. Focuses on history too much
Has potential to be great. Unfortunately host leaves out a few key points. Great starting point for learning about wine.

    Obsessed
I am obsessed with this podcast!! Keith does a wonderful job teaching all that you could want to know about wine in an easy to understand and engaging way. I’ve been listening to this podcast every day for the last few months as I prepare to take somm classes and I’m happy to say I’ve been learning a lot!
  • Nellygoat
    Good content, needs finessing
Intro music is too loud. Keith talks too fast and tries WAY too hard to pronounce every foreign word like a local (think Giada De Laurentiis pronouncing ANYTHING Italian). I feel like he’s on coke or Adderall.
  • KAMurphy81
    Very helpful
I love this podcast! Each episode is a manageable length to learn something new about wine. I’ve learned a lot so far and I’m excited to keep listening!
  • bergpaul1994
    Nails on a chalkboard
This is a sonic assault on my ears. Awful music, a voice that should never be on a podcast, and a big helping of “bro wine content” combine to make a podcast I wish I could forget.
  • Compeller
    Amazing ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🤩
I’ve learned so much about wine listening to this podcast. It’s has open my eyes (and taste buds) in a new amazing way . Love it #1 🍷🤩 this is the best wine podcast ✨
  • 19Bamboo59
Good general info with the occasional deep dive
Good podcast overall, with possibly a few weak entries in the bunch. For example, the biodynamic discussion was wholly insufficient and gave far too much credit to the claims of this practice without any challenge to its lack is scientific rigor. The host seems to have prepared (well) for only one side of the debate.

    Best Wine podcast
Keith is very knowledgeable wine and an engaging host. I consider myself a wine enthusiast and I learn something new on under 25 min podcast. Subscribe and you will not regret it.

    Great podcast!
As a newbie to the world of wine, this was/is the perfect podcast. Highly recommend to anyone.

If you’re into wine or want to learn
My daughter introduced me to this podcast when she was studying for a professional certification in wine. These episodes are so packed with information that you almost need to have a paper and pen at hand. Keith is a lively and engaging host. Highly recommend!
  • si 2019
    Super informative
Learned a lot geographically about grapes and how climate, and soil really play a part in creating wine. Super cool places I’ve learned about and now want to explore just to learn more about the wine in an immersive way. Recommend this podcast if you see wine as more than a beverage but an experience
  • taramcp
    I tried
I tried listening to many of the podcasts. The earliest podcasts seemed informative especially if brand new to wine but later and most recent episodes have not been better. Oh my gosh if I had a dollar for every time he’s says “awesome” I would be able to afford a trip to Napa. Now the podcast just comes off as one big advertisement for what he is discussing on that podcast. Needless to say I am deleting from my library.
  • LisaRut
    Worth listening.
Content very good and easy to follow. Using to supplement material for an advanced level certification. Keith is a bit over the top “dude bro” for my personal taste in his presentation style, but he knows his stuff and is a good teacher. I’m guessing I’m a bit older than the target audience so could be why his style irritates me a bit—but not so much so that I don’t appreciate the content.

An excellent podcast for someone looking to learn more about all things wine!

    I love this podcast!
It’s easy to listen to and not too long. Great information for the average wine drinker/lover like me.

I’m picking up what he is putting down
I have been studying for CSW exam (just passed it — phew) and was seeking other fun and informative sources to complement the thick and detailed preparation study guide. Keith had me at Burgundy. That was the first episode I stumbled upon and listened to and was amazed at how much accurate information provided in 30 minutes of high energy — the history, terroir, grapes, regions, styles, grand crus, etc. From then I was hooked and have listened to every episode. He even managed to make topics like “how grapes are grown” and “how wine is made” interesting and enjoyable. I usually listen while driving, riding my bike, or walking the dog, so Keith’s double espresso energy keeps my attention. Keep ‘em coming Keith — I’m digging what you are doing!
  • Jraux
    Very informative
Came here for a refresher before getting back into hospitality. Excellent enthusiasm and lack of pretense. Scientific breakdowns are wildly informative as well. Would really appreciate an episode on the use of oak in the winemaking process and the effects of specific aspects of terroir on the wine would be interesting to hear your take on these.
  • Coffeekatess
    Keith is an unpretentious King
As I am studying for my intro somm course, and as a baby novice to everything wine, Keiths personality witty, silly, yet passionate style helps so much and it is so refreshing not to listen to some pretentious snob that so many people in our industry has. Ignore all of the 1-4 star reviews. Keith gets a 10/5.

    Love this podcast
I love Keith’s quirky personality and how he makes me not want to fall asleep while learning about wine. Definitely the most information I’ve withheld while learning about wine.
  • mblately
    Disappointed...
I am in the wine industry in the Finger Lakes and was excited to listen to the New York podcast in season 2 however was quickly disappointed by misinformation and mispronunciation. Dr. Frank worked on Keuka, pronounced Q-Ka (not Cayuga- pronounced Kay-you-gah). Cornell is NOT in Geneva on the north end of Seneca. Cornell is on the south end of Cayuga in Ithaca. And Keuka does not mean canoe, it means canoe landing and was often referred to as “crooked finger” because of the “elbow” (lake is the only lake not straight up and down, it is shaped by a Y).
  • robiemo
    Excellent for studying
Keith brings a fresh perspective to the regions with a encyclopedic knowledge that helps me train my staff as they go on to take their exams. Thank you Keith and Vinepair!
  • Kevolas
    Excellent 101 Course
Don’t go buy an expensive book or course. Start here, from the beginning, and go through Keith’s episodes. Then go buy a book or course and you’ll be in such a good spot. He’s got a great way of breaking it down but not so much that semi experienced wine folks will feel overqualified. I always learn something.
  • CALWINEGIRL
    Great introduction to wine
I discovered this podcast a few months ago and I absolutely love it and look forward to it each week. It is a great introduction to the basics of wine or a great refresher course. The host is lively, energetic and does a great job explaining each topic.
  • PerkyPony70.3
    So helpful!
I just smile my way through every episode because of his love for the wine. I’m a WSET Level 3 student and sometimes it’s just nice to have someone break down these wines in a different, casual way. Keep it up! PLEASE. 😃
  • VinoMeAllDay
    Four Espresso Day
Keith must always be on a four espresso day when he records the show because he is jacked up on enthusiasm for wine. Boring and stodgy he is not. Love that, keep up the fine work!
  • LexiBugDance
    Bordeaux Episode
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your Bordeaux episode. I look forward to learning more about the other French regions. Slowly & steadily it is not scaring me quite so much.
