My Town

165

In the small copper town of Whoppertin Michigan, Tyler Bop must solve a missing persons case to free his best friend from jail all while trying to sell you scented candles. Oh and he may have an other worldly ability but I doubt that will come up.My Town is a scripted comedy podcast created by Declan Grogan with music by Emmett Hussman. It's pretty good I think.

    It’s so good
I don’t know why I think it’s so good but it’s so good. I’m only 6 episodes in but I’m already so reluctant to keep listening because I don’t want it to end. Ive had it on my list for a while but I always gave up a few minutes in because it seemed cheesy but when I actually got through the whole first episode I was hooked. It is good it is great and you must listen. I am so sad for when I will finish it.

Life changing, brilliant, and posh. I can think of no better show. Cheers 🥂

    Fantastic! The perfect story podcast.
I listen to a lot of serialized story podcasts and My Town is one of the best. It’s really nice to have an engaging story that’s not horror, death and sadness. Now if only I could get a My Town candle that smells like a seaside town embroiled in mystery

    Well-written, well-acted, suspenseful and humorous.
Original, fresh, fast-paced, quick-witted, finely acted, strong across the board, unusual and with music that I would listen to My Town for alone. Looking forward to more.

A podcast with the most amazing characters
Among my fave podcasts/audio dramas (mission rejected, Wolf359, the white vault, the black tapes) "My town" is genuinely at the top of the list. While they don't have the most immersive sound design, the compelling story and charming characters bring you in. Give this one a listen, you won't regret it. It's my favorite AD find of 2021, and I'm looking forward to more.

    Season 2
MUST WATCH!!! So many twists, deeper character connections, Bert and Tim complete their arcs - gloriously. Steve’s spectacular special best episode ever, Steven sounds really handsome. Also Johnny’s drive for Tyler’s friendship and redemption is sweet, and a great driving force during the season. Easy to pick up, hard to put down. Welcome, to My Town!

    Rewarding and Refreshing
This is such a sweet, touching show—laced with a dry, deadpan humor that sneaks up on you. There’s a charming cast of characters, candles, mysterious kidnappings, villainous dabblings—definitely check this show out.

    Small town, big story
Both my town and oh wayward nights are interesting shows with grounded characters and unique mediums for story telling. I’ve loved listening to my town and I can’t wait to hear the rest of oh wayward nights!

    Wow
This is a great podcast. “It’s good to see you all again even though the audio medium does not allow for the sense of sight.” As someone who has been told frequently that I have a face for radio/podcasts, this was refreshing to hear and exactly what I was looking for. The narrator’s buttery smooth voice instantly transports you. Looking forward to seeing this production hit the top charts soon.

    Raw, but great
Really terrific concept and writing. Halfway through all the episodes, and the story has kept my interest. The dialogue’s funny and clever, and the acting is fine. The sound design’s not that bad, either, despite the apparent low budget. It does suffer from being rough around the edges, especially in pacing. They’d probably have more fans if they slowed the dialogue down just a bit, paced it to normal speech patterns. But that’s fairly minor; it’s easy to get into, and hey, I’d want to visit ‘Whopperton’...especially if they had faux-/frameless-candles...

    Had me from the beginning
Right from the get go this podcast hooked me. The writing is wonderful, the concept is well executed, and the comedy underneath is tasteful for the subject at heart. This one gets me through the work day. Subscribe ASAP!

Extremely well written without losing its silliness
“The fight ended with both brothers asphyxiating and dying on top of each other” “This is my favorite story because I’ve always wanted a brother” This made me laugh out loud and totally invested me in where this story might go. I’m so excited to keep listening.

    Hilarious!
This podcast is hilarious. Episode 7 is my favorite so far with the butler and his soup! I hope there’s a spin off featuring the butler!

    Excellent podcast!
I’m not much of an audio drama kind of guy so the first couple episodes started off slow to me. I understand why they need to be there and provide great information. Afterwards things start heating up. It provides a great story line and even better comedy bits! I would 100% recommend to anybody who has never checked out audio dramas but is interested.

    Humorous yet evocative mystery
I love listening to mystery podcasts. My Town is a gem: it skillfully sets an interesting setting from first person narrator Declan who is a tour guide with a purpose. It’s light humorous tone belies surprising emotional depth, and most importantly it has an unpredictable plot. The podcast is well produced, and the sound editing and music are first rate. Mystery exposition can often be heavy handed, but cleverly executed here. More please! Kathleenkeiferartist

    Serendipitous
I have an independent true crime podcast, one of my main advertisers has been a local candle company, and my sons’ names are Emmett and Declan so I get personally victimized by this whole podcast experience. Therefore, 5-stars all day.

Best Fiction Podcast I’ve Listened to in a Minute
The scale of the production for this independent podcast really astounded me. Great use of foley (sound) effects and, despite what you may think after listening to only the first episode, a wide and varied cast of voice actors. Declan, how did you recruit this many people for your project? Truly amazed and impressed, bravo!

    FANTASTIC
Oh my actual GOD this podcast is INCREDIBLE! This podcast showed up exactly when I needed it the most. In the crazy of this whole quarantine, My Town offers some much-needed levity and charm and heart. Voiced by incredible actors, this show offers a bouquet of vibrant characters, each as compelling as the last. AND DONT GET ME STARTED ON EP 6 - I was on the edge of my seat! I NEED Episode 7 STAT! Can’t wait to get my ticket to Whoppertin as soon as we can travel!

    My town, whoppertin
Insanely smart, but in a low key way. Perfect fodder for pandemic. The more you put in the more you get: so listen thru. A kid named Declan made it.

Funny, dramatic, great voices, what more could you want?
I normally don’t listen to Podcast of any kind but this one is so good! It’s by no means a huge production but it’s full of heart. The voices are great, the music is amazing! My favorite episode so far is episode 2, with a great ukulele track by none other then Declan Grogan himself! It’s also hilarious and gives you that summer vibe your looking for this season! Give it a Listen you won’t regret it.

    Night Vale Presents with HEART
Reminds me mostly of Within the Wires, but frankly I’m just comparing it as a selling point. It’s a unique show already and chock full of heart and quirky humor. Genuinely itching for more content.
