If Blake followed through on all his “I’m out on…” he’d have nothing left. And get ready for a LOT of Boston accent. He’s also like a typical sports radio broadcaster, he says outlandish things (which he may or may not actually believe) just to get a rise out of people It is what is now podcast SOP, but there are a LOT of plugs…a lot Are there better Potter podcasts? Yes. Are there worse? Yes. So, it’s perfectly adequate. ✌️

ScholarchTiresome.I’ve listened to quite a few episodes both old and new. I think it’s pretty clear the hosts have too many other shows to devote the time required to live up to their description “Prepare to embark on an intellectual adventure as they meticulously analyze the profound themes interwoven throughout the Harry Potter saga.” The analysis is extremely basic with points that have been made better by other shows. They’re often factually incorrect or seem to have forgotten what they’ve read in the chapter. There’s lots of hemming and hawing about how “everything is awesome and it gave me all the feels” with that being the “analysis”. Frequently it takes upwards of 10% of the episode runtime for them to get past all their plugs for their Patreon or Facebook or other shows or to ask each other how they feel and it just gets tiresome. Not bad, just tiresome.

Mary and Blake are so funny, realistic, they share bits about their lives in between parts of the books but it’s all relevant and it’s all spectacular. The banter they share is hilarious and their dynamic is unmatched.

I first started with outlander cast because I quickly became obsessed with the show and wanted to listen to people discuss the show while I stand for 8-10 hours a day at work. I then spiraled through so many of their podcasts and the potterverse podcast led me to reading the books for the first time. You guys are my lumos in a time of Knox and I’ll be joining the nerdclan very soon!

I LOVE MARY AND BLAKE!THIS IS MY MOST FAVORITE PODCAST!I love this podcast sooooooo much! I love Mary and Blake! They are so smart! They will at least say something once that will BLOW your mind that you have never thought about before. I love how much Blake “hates Hufflepuffs” even though we all know deep down Hufflepuff is his favorite house. I also love how smart and kind and funny Mary is. This show is family friendly for everyone! I listen to at least one episode a day. (Except on weekends, I watch at least three) I have been listening for at least three years and it has been my favorite since the beginning! Any Harry Potter fan should listen, and they have podcasts for anyone. You can almost guarantee that they have at least one podcast for you. They have made me LOVE Rhode Island! I love this. If you haven’t listened to this you haven’t listened to this you haven’t LIVED!

Very interesting perspectives and well as things I’ve forgotten or missed while reading the first time. Not to mention they’re very funny and every episode really takes you back into the source material like you’re rereading it. 10/10!

HKlehr28Best podcast ever!I found Mary & Blake right after I had my first baby and their podcasts have helped me get through the long nights of feedings and rocking. I love Harry Potter and really enjoy all the plot points that Mary and Blake bring up that I never noticed. Their different perspective bit always leaves me smiling and giggling. I highly recommend all of their podcasts

🦁🐅🧸Oh My!The best podcast ever!!I found the Potterverse and immediately fell in love. Mary and Blake are so funny as they discuss all seven books and all eight movies. I think it was my Ravenclaw determination that caused me to get caught up all the way through the first three books. (The most recent episode was at the start of Goblet of Fire) I listen to every episode as they come out and then re listen to all the other episodes. Thank you for making this podcast!!

I have been listening for the past three years, catching up on the episodes. I was so sad when Mary and Blake stopped recording for a while, but literally whooped with joy when I looked at their podcast one day and saw new episodes!! I am completely caught up now and am always on the edge of my seat waiting for new episodes!!!!!! I am an eleven-year-old Ravenclaw and love listening to podcasts about Harry Potter!!!! Mary and Blake are so funny and wonderful podcasters!! The Potterverse is literally the best HP podcast I have ever listened to!!! I recommend this podcast to Harry Potter fans of all ages, as this podcast is very kid-friendly!! Just one thing: make sure you read all seven books before listening as Mary and Blake spoil many big plot points in future books. The different perspectives are my favorite part of the episodes, and I laugh every time Mary becomes a different person!! Thank you for being my Lumos in the time of Nox!! It is full of spoilers and would ruin so many of the amazing things this series has to offer. Edit- the hosts are much clearer about being a spoiler podcast as they go on! Much appreciated.

Jaydj95Potterhead ApprovedA fun listen. Cute spousal banter. Kid friendly. Not spoiler free. Blake is a bit pretentious but charming nonetheless. I docked a star because, as a biracial individual, I find Mary’s continuous use of the phrase “mixed breed” when referring to half-blood witches or wizards to be very offensive. Never once is this phrase used in the books or movies so I’m unsure why it’s at the forefront her vocabulary. Nevertheless, still recommend.

Then I found the Potterverse and… love love love! They are so funny without being cheesy, and their insights about the books and movies are new and refreshing. I think I might have to get into a different fandom once they’re done with Potter (or maybe by then a TV show will be happening, and they can continue!)

gem092011Love you guys, but…I think your east coast bubble is showing a bit. Normal people (e.g. the vast majority of this country) DO NOT CARE that J.K. Rowling believes men cannot be magically transformed into women. In fact, they agree with her. Just because the trans activists scream loudly does not make their views commonplace. The first part of this podcast was really off-putting because it gives the “controversy” way too much credit. Not sure why you guys felt the need to tiptoe around the issue so much. That said, I still love ya (hence the 5 stars 😜).

Mwagner1990Truly the lumps in my time of noxI found the Potterverse with Mary and Blake well over a year ago, maybe even two now, in some of the darkest times of my life. Even as a teenager, the Potter universe was one that always brought me comfort. Although no one quite understood my love of Potter, it was one of those passions that burned through the next 20 years of my life. Now, as a 33 year-old psychology professor (and yes, I did do one of my Master’s papers on the psychology of Harry Potter—No shame—Yes, that kid definitely needed all of the therapy, all of the co-pays), I use Harry Potter concepts and stories in my classroom. For example, the Freudian concept of the ID, Ego, and Superego: ID=primal instincts, needs to have its needs satisfied right away, is Ron. The superego=the super moral, needs to follow the rules (most of the time)=Hermione. Ego is the peace maker between the two, and that is our favorite lightning-scarred boy. ANYWAY. All that to say, listening to Mary and Blake has not only allowed me to vibe with my own nerdiness, but also shows me that there are other nerds out there like me. So, go listen to the HP podcast, or one of there many other podcasts! If you need a good cry, This is Us, Too is definitely tissue worthy. However their Outlander podcast is also some of my favorite listenings while I await for the new Potterverse to come out.

I am basically their marketing avatar because Outlander, This is Is, Bridgerton, and Harry Potter are my jam! My 9 year old just devoured books 4-7 in about two months (we read books 1-3 together over the past few years). He was feeling all the emotions as he neared the end of 7, and finally said, “I’m not ready for this to end.” I told him, “The adventure never ends. You may have finished the books, but you’ve only seen a glimpse of the Potterverse. Just you wait.” He loves analyzing books and films, so we started the chapter 1 of the audiobooks, and then after I played the first episode of Mary and Blake’s The Potterverse. He. Is. Hooked! So funny, informative, and much much more! Thank you for doing what you do! ❤️

NillocMan“WHAT ARE YA DOIN?!”This is a great podcast to listen to when doing anything really really enjoy the commentary between Mary and Blake. I really enjoy how they reference other podcasts they do together and just all the nerdy and fun things they talk about definitely brings Lumos to a time of Knox. As a teacher of 9th graders ( I know yikes) my only question for Mary and Blake is if you had to assign each Hogwarts professor to a Muggle school curriculum. Who would teach what subject? I think trilony would be either the “eccentric” art teacher or the drama/ performing arts teacher. Keep up the wonderful work. Make sure to follow this mom and pop podcast. I love to listen to this podcast outside while spending time with, “MY BOY, that’s my boy!”. Love you guys keep doing what you are doing!

susan068Good but also frustratingThis is a fun podcast and better than the other Harry Potter podcasts that I have tried. As I reread (over 10 times) the series, I find that the errors make me wish that Mary and Blake had fact checkers. For example, in the latest episode they say that Dumbledore can apparate and disapparate in and out of Hogwarts, but that happens only in the movies. Even when he escapes Fudge and Umbridge and two aurors in book 5, he leaves his office with the help of his phoenix. In another episode (book 3), they lament that the Knight bus only appears once. But it appears twice in book 5. Every episode seems to have something that is like a pebble in one’s shoe. Maybe for new readers, it doesn’t matter. Finally, there are multiple levels of meaning in the stories. This podcast deals with the surface. Moving on.
