Still a great show, but prefer the longer format of early episodes
I discovered this show last year and started listening from the first episode in order. The early episodes are fantastic with lots of detailed information and audio clips that made it stand out amongst the many other crime shows out there. Now the episodes are much shorter with less info and feel a little lacking. I also find the geographic trivia at the beginning of each episode unnecessary. Still worth listening to and the host does a great job of presenting the facts in a fast-paced manner with just a touch of cynicism.

    I don’t know you
I don’t know you, your 3 daughters or your wife-and I shouldn’t. You seem determined to share info abt them. That’s not what I’m here for and is rather disturbing this day in age/granted the podcast subject matter. Stop exposing your female family members as entertainment. The describing a victim being found after a brutal crime on a date-“MY BIRTHDAY”-was beyond the pale. Way to overthrow the victim’s story by inserting yourself into their death. Way too much commentary, less *actual* info. I listen at 2x fast to get through it. Do better.

    My review
I absolutely love this podcast, love the monotone voice, love how straight forward it is, love the audio clips. I love it all but I would love if you could do more longer episodes like Gannon Stauch I loved how much detail was given.
  • Thechrisbolton
    Long episodes!
Please do more long episodes like you did with the Gannon Stauch case! I love how in depth you went with it, and wish all your episodes were like this one. I love this podcast, but it’s usually only 3 stars for lack of detail and substance, but if they were all like this one, it would be 5 stars easy, and possibly the best true crime pod I listen to!

    Monotone but great content
Love the content but so very monotone it’s easy to lose interest.

    Original!
What’s great and different about this podcast is the inclusion of audio from police interviews, testimony, etc and the host’s commentary. Makes for a more complete understanding of cases you thought you knew everything about already.

    Wow
Great storytelling ! Straight to the point. Love the narration after the audio tapes bc I can’t always understand it.

    Intelligence
It's reassuring to know Jiles will break character and ad-lib when elements of a story demand it. This is effective true crime journalism narration.

    Editor Needed
This Pod either needs to hire an Editor, or should replace the one they have. Holy run-ons sentences, which are bad enough, but throw in the loopy yet jarring speech pattern to really make it grate against the brain pan. You know when you were a wee lad playing with a deflating ballon, eeking out it’s escaping air so that the sound pitches all over the place? The experience is quite similar to listening to this man talk. Also, a snide remark from the host here and there can be amusing… an endless stream of snarkiness, not so much; it just comes across as petty, but maybe that’s the desired effect? One or two quips per episode is plenty… most listeners should be able to cultivate their own thoughts and opinions… leave the echo chamber for daytime TV talk shows.

    Great!
    Great and to the point.

    Stick with the YouTube series
Episode lengths are too short and vary too much between 10 mins and 37 mins. Just have 45 minute episodes like everyone else
  • Choclatte82
    Love it
I love both shows, the research is deep.

    Love this
So in love with this pod/YouTube channel. The research is deep and respectful. Little hints of humor sprinkled in throughout which is a nice palette cleanser. Also love the resources at the end! Just a very very well produced and extremely well rounded podcast.

    Love the YouTube and podcast
Absolutely love this guy! I’ve been subscribed to his YouTube channel for awhile now, and he never ever disappoints.. I love how the cases that he uploads are not always in the mainstream n media Keep up the phenomenal work J 💙

    Terrific
The minute I hear the theme tune, I know what follows will be a twisted tale, tightly told!

This is for you if you enjoy listening to court testimony and 911 calls
This is for you if you enjoy listening to court testimony and 911 calls. I attempted to listen to the Nicole Latchman episode, will never get that time back. It’s like the producer is trying to stretch the length of the episode as much as possible by including the most mundane details from 911 calls and court testimony. You’re left wondering “why am I listening to this?”

    Love this podcast
The host’s deadpan and sarcastic commentary makes me giggle because it’s my sentiments exactly! I find it educational and entertaining.
  • Bkdebrn
Bkdebrn…… Deb is LOVING it 🥰!!!!
AWESOME!!!! Love the detailed well researched storytelling. Just became a consistent new listener. PLEASE keep it coming and I will be here to listen, enjoy and support your exemplary efforts. 💝
  • Not Tom Selleck
    Annoying voice
There’s something in the Up and down pattern of speech that the narrator has that just annoys the crap out of me. Ending every sentence on the same down note is sociopathic.
  • Iris.Nya
    Amazing
Well structured, well narrated, everything about this show is amazing. Jiles, the narrator is a really cool guy and I encourage whoever is reading this to check out their youtube channel which posts the graphics to these stories.
  • Citybluesgirl
The commentary sometimes cracks me up
Interesting episodes but I won’t listen to ones involving kids so I miss a lot of them. The commentary is sometimes hilarious when the criminals are called out for their dumbness or nonsense.
  • hdjgfhfhfhf
It’s a woman with a voice changer narrating!
This is my 3rd time giving a review on this podcast! I grown to accept his/her opinions but I would rather just hear the story! I like that they do their research and due diligence, I also like that they do many cases I haven’t heard before. If you can get past the opinion and diagnosis you come to enjoy and accept this podcast!
  • randymossengagfer

This guy is honestly great Ive been listening since 2020 and tbh ive geard so much I GATTA be in a watchlist by now 😭😂 keep it up you get me through my work days !
  • EPBQ
    Too much opinion
Good details but please stop with the morality tangents and worse, giving relationship advice. Just tell the story. I also listen at 1.25 speed most of the time. Also what’s with all the Irish Christmas commercials?

    HOOKED🫶🏻😎🤯
I happened upon the episode on the Disappearance of Simon and his cult, and it had me automatically hooked!!!! At the same time it made me wonder how I didn’t know about your podcast before then!!??! That was three weeks ago, and I have had a binge watching weekend after that very first episode!!!! You are a rung above the rest! I absolutely love the way you bring to life all of these true crime stories!!!! Many of the true crime podcasts are kinda like cookie cutter shows… It’s a breath of fresh air to listen to your show, and the way you bring these true crimes to life!!! You’re not like so many other shows. The way you treat each story with respect and compassion while at the same time making sure the facts are clear and correct. You are among the best in true crime podcasts!!! KEEP UP ALL YOUR AMAZING WORK!!!!! YOU ARE A REAL BREATH OF FRESH AIR!!!!

I usually get obsessed and then fizzle out
I really enjoy this podcast. I haven’t gotten sick of it at all which is weird for me. I like the facts and the the delivery but mostly I love your voice. Perfect for this subject matter
  • Bookworm86!
    Great show!
I’ve learned about so many previously unknown to me heartbreaking and disturbing true crime incidences. A great show for any true crime fan
  • tempest53
    Great information
I really enjoy the matter of fact way the host speaks on these topics. The tone of his speech is almost neutral which at first I was concerned would bore me but no it’s quite the opposite. He draws me in purely through the narrative he weaves. The stories are very good. Well chosen to suit my interests. I loved the first season focusing on filicide and ultimately have enjoyed how the podcast transformed into a more open ended format in terms of the types and styles of cases chosen.
  • Dittyknitty
    Wow excellent delivery
I love the live clips! I love the opinion of the host, he says every single thing I yell or while listening to the episodes. I’m definitely going to support the podcast but he’s so dry and his voice is too monotone. But I do love this show! I love you but you did NOT do Mary Welch’s story any justice!
  • JazzBass13
In my top 3 true crime shows
This is Monsters is among the best!!💖💖💖☠️💀☠️🦤☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️. And as Jiles says "It's never a mannequin!"
  • lit watch
    ID that accent.
Imagine being on a blind date & the speech pattern of the newly introduced interest unwaveringly resembles that of this podcast host. Imagine..

This podcast is well researched and I especially enjoy the sarcastic and snarky commentary.
  • TEXHND
    Love this podcast!
One of the best true crime podcasts out there! Here is a good one for you to cover: research Alvin Lee King III, Daingerfield, TX First Baptist Church mass shooting June 22, 1980. Thanks for all that you do!
  • Tappana
Good podcast…but doesn’t always have best research
I really enjoy this podcast for the most part. But the Mark Hacking episode where there was a lot of focus on the LDS church was entirely off base. It’s obvious that the host of this podcast is anti-religion, which is fine. However, as an active *FEMALE* member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, his criticism and judgement are incorrect. It’s clear he doesn’t understand the religion, especially since he states a lot of false narratives. Not to mention the rant on our temples, which are sacred. Not secret. There’s a difference. I’d like to see him speak so disrespectfully about other religions who also have sacred rituals and wear sacred religious clothing materials that symbolize their beliefs. It’s offensive. However, there’s a lot of shade thrown at my religion due to ignorance, so it’s expected. But how about we focus on the actual crime, instead of going off on hateful tangents based on the hosts bias that have absolutely nothing to do with the story.

    Love this podcast
This is one of the only other podcasts I’ve found that feels similar to Casefile. The episodes get released frequently so there’s always something new to listen to. My only gripe is that some of the episodes move VERY fast and if you’re not paying close attention you’ll definitely get lost. I just wish it was a little slower pace sometimes.
