    Fantastic series! And truly terrifying.
The hosts of the show do a great job of addressing a complicated topic and telling a story that has a lot of twists and turns. A must-listen!

    One of the best ever
Incredibly well made, start-to-finish. Fascinating story, amazing reporting, totally engaging. Learned so much.

2 years later and it’s still a profound piece of reporting.
Wasn’t surprised that MTJ made an appearance.

    Biased
It’s quite biased and made for people left of center. I’m not sure why they focused one family of influencers, when there are numerous other groups that are “no compromise” and also very active in the lobbying/political space, such as Firearms Policy Coalition. I found it odd that eventually that they find some African american activist to be like “we’re white so we don’t understand but he’s saying they’re racist so they are” type of usual argument. It’s also kind of weird how they take opinions of the people they’re reporting on and then use innuendo or outright opinion to explain why it’s wrong or lessen arguments of the gun rights people. One good example is how the reporters brush over Waco without highlighting why people in the 2A space find it so important. I think the biggest issue about this is how they think they’re reporters when they’re more like pundits.

    Gun right?
Not sure if this is about gun rights or one content producer. I haven’t finished it yet but we’ll see.

Interesting, but biased and with too much sarcastic undertone. I’m an independent and not into guns fwiw.

    Excellent
Well researched, well reported, and fair. This is a really important issue and some of the bad reviews seem purely motivated by the fact that gun propaganda is being exposed.

    One sided
Started out interesting but ended where I expected. It’s so pieced together that you know you are only hearing the parts they want you to. Also the way it ends is in such bad taste! Of course they got “Covid”, but to end the podcast like that… Just because people got sick, does not mean the government should tell people how to live.

Just when you think you know why...
This series captivated me! I thought I understood the gun issues. I was wrong!! It's so important to hear all aspects of the subjects that our neighbors are motivated by.

    Great reporting on todays America
This podcast should be listened to throughout the country both for Red states and Blue states. Facts matter and good reporting matters. Bravo to everyone involved with the making of No Compromise, thank you.

    Enjoyable and surprising
I started listening thinking it was going to be about gun activists. Instead, it's about something far graver and more sinister. Both hosts shoot. This isn't an anti-gun podcast, but it does highlight an activist subculture using social media to dupe gun-rights people into supporting a cause they might not support. The reporting is top notch. This podcast is well worth your time. **This showed up in New

    We’ll-researched, good reporting
All in all, an excellently researched, written, and produced story. Partisans are flooding these comments to downvote the podcast out of visibility (and from many comments it appears they haven’t actually listened to it). I think it’s important to listen to things that people attempt to silence. Highly suggest giving it a go.

    Biased “journalism”
They deliberately conflate many different groups and lump them together unfairly under the worst possible umbrella. Many people believe in God given rights who are not Reconstructionists.

    Great for one sided opinions
If you like one sided opinions and hearing everything you agree with this echo chamber is the podcast for you. If you enjoy good debate and conversation with multi points of view I wouldn’t waste your time. But that goes for most NPR shows these days.
  • Megabeau
    Well regulated
A bunch of butt hurt conservatives downvoting this podcast. The problem of course is that the podcasters never challenge any of the assertions made by gun nuts that are featured here. The second amendment was never about government tyranny, but about the ability for people to stop rogue actors from from rising up against the government’s of the states and the federal government. For those who don’t believe that look up Shay’s rebellion and what happened after shay’s rebellion. It was the cause for the US going from a weak federal government to a much stronger one. The guns are meant to stop tyranny story is an absolute myth.

    Exceptional Investigation
Well paced, exceptionallt nuanced, and comprehensive. This podcast shines light on a subculture of American politics many of us are just starting to understand. Truly essential context for grappling with our current gun culture predicament.

    Guns
I love this unbiased, cold take, long form, chronological so it’s easy to digest, kind of journalism. The distrust of a government that created the very document they use to defend their distrust is oxymoronic, comical, and a little sad. It was created at the time as a defense against the British, not ourselves. I understand having a pistol to defend your home, a rifle to hunt as a hobby. Why anyone needs a gun that shoots 100 bullets a second is beyond me. And their logical defense of such ownership, makes it scarier. Like an alcoholic at a bar, there isn’t enough on the wall to be satisfied. And for some of these gun owners, I see the same pattern.

    Great journalism
Such a shining piece of journalism. Mostly facts with occasional statement about basic matter such as racism thrown here and there. Learned a ton both about society today as well as about the past.

    Great Propaganda Work.
More NPR chocolate covered, slow acting poison. It makes their “enlightened” and “compassionate” followers purr with self righteous satisfaction. Good to excellent propaganda work. Good production values highly effective in doing what they do best. When you have the cash and NPR has the cash, you excel in doing your job. The job of this Podcast is Big Brother’s triad. “War is peace”, “Black is white”, “”Freedom is slavery”, while claiming they believe the opposite and proving it to the listener with targeted lies.

    Very interesting
Came across this randomly, but it was pretty fascinating to take in all the same. Seemed pretty unbiased to me, but everyone carries their own opinion.
  • jlgmacronut
    LOL
Listening to NPR give an “unbiased” report on guns is hilarious. NPR has become a comedy show and they don’t even know it. It’s just funny stuff.
  • ChemaCB
1 star for at least trying to seem fair and unbiased.
It’s so sad that the left just doesn’t really have fair investigative journalism anymore. Only propaganda. This show is no different. A completely one sided telling of a story fabricated to demonize those who disagree with the Allowed Opinion. Btw, I don’t even agree with any of the far right stuff, I just want intellectually honest reporting.

    A Look Behind the Curtain
An amazing look behind the curtain of how the far right is making violence against fellow Americans seem normal and necessary.

NPR Seems to be run by whiners
Seems like you’re more concerned about the way they market themselves. I don’t own guns or care about them but this is still America and you’re allowed to make money. What’s your point? Am I supposed to think NPR isn’t all over the country when they’re asking me for donations?

    Excellent work
Phenomenal reporting - impartial, informative… definitely listen. I learned so much. These journalists set an example of what journalism is all about. Great work to you both and your team that helped you produce this podcast.

    Fascinating!
Such amazing reporting and storytelling. I never knew gun rights—I mean Second Amendment virtues—had such a wild history. Also, my biggest takeaway definitely had to do with how race and the Black Panthers factored into the first firearms restrictions.

    Great podcast!
This was a riveting podcast that showed me a side of American gun culture that I didn't know existed. The reporting is thorough and fair. Give it a listen!

    Unbalanced
I appreciate the look into the topic and the in depth reporting on the issue. It was well made and it doss seem like the reporters make a genuine attempt to understand the viewpoints of the people they interview on the way to making their case. That said, it strikes me as less of a story intended to expose the radicals of one particular issue and more of a attempt to subtly push a particular point of view. I think you could have done a better job showing the views of supporters of 2nd Amendment who are more moderate and not radicals like the people this podcast focuses on. Without this angle, the reporting could be seen to paint nearly everyone who is pro-gun as a homogeneous group of white males who are all racial and religious extremist. This is simply not the case. By the end of the podcast it is clear that this is a hit piece designed to associate every gun owner and proponent of the 2nd Amendment with Waco, Ruby Ridge and The Oklahoma City Bombing. Views from people across the spectrum of gun policy, including conservative pro-gun views, would have done a better job at shining a light on the corruption and flaws of these radical groups. It would have also possibly stood a chance at changing the minds of some of the people who may be lured by these radical views. Instead it comes across in some parts of the podcast as though you are speaking absolute truth and there is no grey area or other valid opinions on the topic of gun control. So again, well made and researched. I think it important to expose corruption, con-men and radicals when you see them and you do that well here. That said, if you are going to lean to one side of the issue it would be helpful to have opinions to balance that, otherwise you risk hurting your credibility.

You can’t softball an interview with a three percenter and ignore the interconnectedness between their racism and their violence and desire for guns. Makes the whole series feel incredibly soft on these psychos

    Incredible reporting
This podcast is so well reported, timely, and interesting that I had to listen to it in a binge. The hosts know their stuff, and have done an excellent job building up the narrative of their investigation. I hope this podcast also has helped expose the selfish motives behind the No Compromise grifters and their social media astroturfing.

    Journalism at its best
There is a lot to digest with this podcast and rightfully so considering it’s topic. That’s the thing about the American right wing. Once you start looking at an issue and it’s advocates, you start to peel back the many layers associated with their cause and find a mix of racism, grift, Christianity and absolute nuttiness. This podcast captures all of that and more. This podcast is why journalism matters so much. Lifting the rocks or stones that need to be turned over but haven’t been overturned. Kudos to these two reporters and the work they’ve done. 💯😎

    Excellent Podcast!
Great podcast, make sure you are on a long car trip or have some time as is difficult to stop listening. One of the best explanations I have heard regarding the shared lineage of new gun right advocates (post NRA), right wing militias, and fringe Christian evangelicals. Very fair and balanced reporting, but kind of scary. Great job and Pulitzer Prize well deserved!

    Incredible
I’ve listened to this 3 times and will listen several more. The insights and understanding I’ve gained from a world totally foreign to me are amazing and owe to the phenomenal reporting of this team. I’ve shared it with many friends, encouraging them to listen. The insights revealed from understanding how good people who mean well can come to the conclusion that guns are an answer, THE answer, is invaluable. We desperately NEED to UNDERSTAND divergent views in order to find opportunities to come together. Incredible, incredible pod cast and recommend to all with an open mind towards paths to coming together.
