    Godfrey has lost the plot
I hope espn has hired this man because the playoff water carrying during the last month is absurd

    Alex has good politics
I’m just in it for whenever he inserts them into the show. Don’t know much about cfb, just watch enough to know it’s dubs down forever.

This is a good podcast with good people

    Great show
Thanks to having bodily autonomy I am able to listen to this great show. I was a subscriber to the Patreon (now Substack) for a while and it is amazing content as well (when I have more money I’ll resubscribe). Y’all should listen to it

    Slow fade in quality
This happens to any podcast once it gets popular: the hosts think they themselves are the reason people listen, not the focus of said podcast. It’s a subtle thing, but oh so noticeable. The majority of each episode is now Richard taking 4 sentences to what could be said in 1, Steven just hating life (while attempting to “laugh it off” when called out) and Alex, when allowed, attempting to make what’s left a show. Pod started strong, but oh well...thanks for the memories! Fun while it lasted

    Terrible
Yes they cover the whole sport , which I appreciate. But half the podcast is just ragging on coaches and programs. It gets old really fast. They are way too snarky and annoying. And it’s a shame because they know their stuff, but for some reason feel the need to constantly rag on Cristobal , Riley , and a whole host of coaches and programs. Probably because they are unhappy with their own lives. Poor guys.

    Shame
In the face of the biggest college football scandal in years, RJ killed his objectivity for some lame Michigan leaks that Thamel rejected. Instead of hustling like Woodward and Bernstein, RJ would be the guy carrying water for the Nixon administration amidst watergate to get some more stories.

    Ruined a once great Pod
This used to be an awesome pod until one of the hosts sold his soul for incredibly weak Michigan scoops/leaks. Super disappointing and kinda kills the spirit of this pod.

A college football podcast for normal people
It’s so hard to find people that talk about football without getting all dude-bro about it. It’s even harder to find that for college football. These guys are making the most thoughtful, well rounded, and insightful content on this sport. Rather than telling you what you see in games, they tell you why it’s happening. College football is weird and these guys are some of only a few to really embrace that.
  • Ian St. Ian
    Pretty Pretty Good
Good analysis and commentary. The fact that Michigan and Harbaugh seem to occupy 90% of Godfrey’s head space is weird but also an entertaining bonus.

    Tried and failed
I tried to listen to this show but I couldn’t get through an episode. They try to be funny and sarcastic but it’s just more annoying than anything and it’s kinda all over the place. I make an effort to give all these different college football podcasts a listen to but unfortunately this one just fell flat. I highly recommend The Joel Klatt Show and Late Kick w/ Josh Pate. I find them to be more knowledgeable and much more enjoyable to listen to so I’m gonna stick with them.

    More live shows!
Solid analysis and coverage of college football year round, and Dead Letters are the best part of the off season. We demand more live shows and informal bowl watching parties or else we will leave terrible Yelp! reviews damnit!

I like to shout at clouds
So I listen to Godfrey. He’s my spirit animal and he hates my school….. Speaking of school have you heard what schools are next up on Homefield Apparel? This was “not” written by Alex

    I tried
I didn't last an episode. Not only am I "unfollowing" this podcasts, I'm also unfollowing the presenters I followed on Twitter. Just complaining about how other sports/leagues can't compare to the NFL or college football & that college football can't compete with NFL. HELLO: I quit NFL years ago & increased my CFB consumption because I want disparity & rooting for the underdog.

Best CFB Podcast on the Planet
Always excited for new episodes both in and out of the season

    Best Sports Podcast out there
Can’t call this a CFB podcast because a) the Fullcast is the only college football podcast and b) it’s so much more than that. Steven, Richard, and Alex work hard to provide a bigger picture of the sport and provide context that isn’t available anywhere else. Their “eating the whole hog” is refreshing as a lot of other podcasts only focus on the big names of the times, let alone the G5 or FCS. I can’t recommend being a patron enough either. The list of podcasts I’d pay to listen to is short, but this is definitely at the top.
  • Smushheh
If you love CFB, you will love SZD
The most complete college football podcast there is. Every week during the season, Richard, Alex, and Stephen cover the whole of the sport, not just the big names, in both a preview and a rundown format. The off-season also offers a peek behind the curtains of certain aspects of CFB, whether it’s narrative from the hosts or interviews with coaches or other insiders. Godfrey still hates my team.
  • J3T3L
    An essential CFB podcast
Alex, Richard and Godfrey combine the best aspects of CFB analysis and punditry while eating the whole hog of college football each week. A must listen if you’re a college football fan of any team b

I listen for Stephen & Richard
I’ll celebrate when they lose Alex.

    Why Godfrey??
I was listening to an episode where Godfrey was absolutely going off on Freeze and I laughed so hard I got into a fender bender. Signed up for the Patreon the next day. Over thanksgiving I was listening to an episode where Godfrey was again going off on Freeze and I got pulled over for speeding. I give you three takeaways from my experience: this (and their patreon)is the best college football podcast by far, Hugh freeze is junk, and Godfrey not only hates your team, he hates my driving.
  • Tim8888
    Almost unlistenable
These guys talk over each other and interrupt each other more than any other “professional “ podcasters I’ve ever heard. They are all in such a hurry to one up the other hosts with their superior inside knowledge that they never actually get to a point. Waste of time
  • QAB 87
    Good podcast.
Listen to this podcast if you want to understand college football on and off the field. I listen to a lot of cfb podcasts and this one is the best.

    The Best There Is
If you’re a fan of the whole sport, this needs to be your go-to show. They’ll discuss the major-conference topics, but also find time to give the smaller schools their due. Some game recaps, some scheme talk, some rivalry-history review, some program-from-30,000-feet discussion, some examination of the larger factors affecting the sport…whatever you love college football, Split Zone Duo hits it.

    Great Pod, Mouth Sounds Hurt
Love the pod, subscribe to the patreon and look forward to every episode. Only thing I’d knock it for is that Alex eats the mic on a lot of episodes and Godfrey’s dramatic deep breathes before speaking can irk me. Still listen and love it, but have to skip ahead when I can’t handle the mouth sounds.
  • rmonk81
Best College Football Podcast, Full Stop
This guys are great. No boring national narratives. They get into the details and talk big schools and small schools. Richard knows scheme and Godfrey knows the ins and outs of the coaching carousel. Alex somehow keeps it on all the rails.

Just a high quality podcast about college football! Informative and entertaining!

Elite college football insight & analysis
Hilarious rapport, clear-eyed takes, and ferocious passion for the game. Gets me hyped every week to watch the games, and in the off season helps me stay engaged and informed.

    The best out there
My favorite college football podcast by a mile. They cover all the bases on information, give great analysis, and are always educating about CFB. Unlike a lot of CFB podcasts they don't shy away from the tough reality of some parts of the sport which I find to be a refreshing part of their coverage. I would recommend subscribing to the Patreon as well, all the extra episodes, guests, and features they have on there are well worth it.

I wish we were friends for real
Insightful, funny, Godfrey - what else do you need in a podcast. Consistently excellent and worth signing up for their patreon.

Best of the best in college football media
Fair, even-handed, and informed. No one does it better.
  • bkl5432
    Pretty good CFB show
The takes are a little repetitive, Alex’s politics are annoying, but Godfrey/Richard’s coaching coverage is great and Richard’s X’s and O’s knowledge is refreshing on a podcast. If you only have 60 minutes worth of ideas per week, no need to release 4 hours of content.
  • Dom Walker
    Bodily Autonomy
Alex is annoying. Politics inserted whenever possible.
  • TMueller35
    Best of the best
Been following the show since the original PAPN days and have never been disappointed. Better analysis than you’ll get from anywhere else, and Godfrey is the perfect amount of grumpy.
  • Slambera
    Much Needed Show
This show is a breath of fresh air. The guys have reignited my love of the college game. They talk about EVERY team and do a good job balancing scheme talks, background drama, rumors, gossip, and everything that makes college football great.

    FINALLY
I'd wanted Richard and Alex to do a show together for years now, and it's everything I'd hoped for. Godfrey rounds it out incredibly well, as should be expected. The "whole hog" take on the sport is something that's hard to find with this level of insight. If you want more takes on Ohio State, Bama, and the biggest of big names, plenty of other shows provide that, and well. SZD does G5 well and truthfully - Boise isn't as good as they used to be, UL Monroe will always struggle, and Liberty is...Liberty. Also, there's plenty of blunt, but not simply jaded talk about how the sausage is made - the realities of NIL, how TV fuels the sport now, etc. A great broad-picture look at the sport.
