When they said marriage is an awful institution then referred to their husband, that was an auto 5 stars 😎😊

    Soooooooo good
I love this podcast. The conversation and reviews are smart and honest and personal. I admire the relationship between these two humans and how they explore themselves through the shows they are watching. I want everyone to listen.

    Insightful Discussion
I started listening a few months ago and love this duo's analysis of both film and television. There are not too many places in the podcast world where you'll find discussions about watercooler shows such as SEVERANCE in the same block as discussions on films by Kogonada. My only quibble: In a recent takedown (a WARRANTED takendown, I might add) of Sam Eliott's gripes about of POWER OF THE DOG,Pelin Keskin-Liu prefaced her comments by saying "who cares about what an old white guy has to say about ANYTHING, honestly?" The off-the-cuff remark was actually a revealing insight into her opinions, namely that people of a certain age and skin color are no longer granted a seat at the table to share their viewpoints, as if their widsom is inherently nonexistant. All of that having been said, I will continue to listen to Pelin Keskin-Liu and JennyG. Zhang. I've gotten exposed to new films and directors as a result of their fine work, and their enthusiasm and candidness in their analysis is refreshing.

I feel dead without Criticism is Dead
I look forward to every episode like the hosts look forward to every Himesh Patel appearance. Thoughtful and entertaining analysis from an engaging duo—highly recommended for anyone who shares our good taste :) in movies and shows.

Thoughtful, honest, nuanced. I LOVE IT!
What I love about this podcast is how it defies the unproductive lambasting of film and television that has become so popular lately. These conversations are thoughtful, researched, and funny. A new favorite!

    An Excellent Pop Culure Hang
This podcast is always a fun and insightful listen. The hosts have great chemistry and interesting perspectives on the pop culture they consume each week. I find myself listing things to check out or revisiting things I originally skipped after hearing each episode. My favorite pop culture conversations revolve around how and why cultural artifacts come into being. This show explores those questions in smart, engaging, and sometimes hilarious ways. It's just a really good hang for the kind of person that can watch half of a director's filmography in a weekend followed by some really good trash TV. There is absolutely no sense of gatekeeping and that's why the show stands out. It's just about some stuff these two creative, talented people like and that's that.

    calming/insightful/hilarious!!
Even if I’m behind on watching the films/series they’re discussing, I love listening because I trust their opinions! They have amazing taste and are able to point out things about media that I don’t even think about. I learn so much from listening to this podcast!!!!! They’re voices are soothing and they’re so fun to listen to. 10000/10 would recommend!

Thank GOD for film podcasts that don’t feel bro-y
Where do I even start? This podcast is so funny, soothing, and sneakily insightful. It’s not one of those podcasts that makes you feel like you’re stuck at a party listening to film bros blab. Instead, Jenny and Pelin’s conversations just so obviously feel and sound like the conversations that the cool quiet girls are having. The range in types of media they cover is also really nice! It’s just a good time without the exclusive “we’re smarter than everyone else” vibe. Realizing I just want be friends with them.
