BattlebirchWhen is season 3 dropping?!?Can’t wait!
-
agenteggSo thought provoking and a great listen.I’ve listened to both seasons 3 times now and it gets better every time. This is my favorite podcast, hands down. I’m very excited for what’s next. I spent time in Somerset in the early 2000s with my work mapping caves. I was hooked immediately.

7Michael7Stellar PodcastThese are some information dense podcasts but are fascinating to follow. I recommend at least a couple of listens, and probably some notes taken along the way. So much more in-depth than Hellier, no offense to the Hellier folks. These are just on another level. Thanks, and keep up the good work. Also, I’m enjoying the 1 star reviews by angry fascists.

the liberty warriorStarted out great and interestingThis podcast started out great but then they have to take it to politics. The problem with these far left nuts is no matter what the topic starts out as it will always become anti white anti American anti conservative garbage every time. It’s sad really because they get so close to solving a problem or figuring out some crazy mystery and then boom go off the road to the left and interject their crazy political ideals and I assume far right nuts do the same. it takes strong people to fight the need to be correct all the time. Maybe the reason is that’s how the system is designed so they can not figure these things out. Fortunately sane people can look past all this bullsh$t and need to be better than another group of people and can actually focus on what needs focus … You can’t “fight racism” by being racist towards the opposite group that creates more hate not less and that’s clearly what this narrator is doing.

NBC0716Fascinating.Great job! Very interesting!!!!
-
J_oakSmart, fascinating & thought-provokingMy absolute favorite podcast. If you are interested in mysticism, history, synchronicities, parapolitics, and conspiracy theories, this is the podcast for you. They do a great job of objectively exploring topics and connecting seemingly disparate events and ideas. Such a wild ride. Can’t wait for season 3!

niceguysteveStarted off great, goes down hill….The first season had me hooked, season two is a rambling mess. I guess there wasnt enough content for a full second season so they opted for longer interviews with people who seem to talk in circles and then they turn the corner into politics and woke ideology. I understand that some of the characters involved are unsavory and hold views that the narrator finds abhorrent (as do I) but it just wasn’t necessary to spend so much time on it - expect I think they were out of legit material. For me, it really ruined the whole thing.
-
tjdillThe phenomenaIs not just in KY/WV. It’s all of Appalachia. I’m ready for another season!
-
kp on the spotPenny wonderful, not dreadfulTop notch, I want a season 3
-
JJPasadenaso here’s the thing…...as far as the show goes, amazing, especially in the beginning. I’d love to give this show 4-5 stars but they just stopped. I really wish they’d pick it back up.

411 ChatterIntriguing ContentI’ve enjoyed this podcast so much, I’m starting it all over again-this time with headphones. I want to experience the content again and find nuggets I’m sure I missed the first time. More than once, I was listening to this at bed time only to find myself remembering some of the content in my dreams. My great grandparents came from KY and moved to MO; I recognize much of the culture and dialect in these episodes. Great stories and editing make for good entertainment. Thanks for the hard work.
-
IndyJ'sGot too politicalI thought the early episodes were entertaining, but as they progressed episode after episode the authors made more and more left-wing extremist remarks.
-
Barry90909090Had to get politicalNot everybody is here for the far-left “America is irredeemably racist” talking points and narratives. That’s a shame, because I was really enjoying this podcast. It’s OK to be white, guys, regardless of what your professors have told you.
-
ladeshspeshWeird in all the right waysI love this mystery and the way Nate and the guys tell this story. Do yourselves a favor and join the Liminal Lodge on Patreon.

DJGrumpygeezerOh, the places you can go!More than just another Podcast. It will be a Portal, if you let it. Deep strangeness; strange deepness. Navigate chaos by taking your hands off the steering wheel! Friend texted a link to the final episode of season two. Listening to that was an epiphany a minute, so I was motivated to binge my way through all the previous episodes. Just finished rehearing the finale and my mind is blown—in a really good way. Easy to drown in the details by trying to “figure the whole thing out.” But if you let go and surf the experience, letting attention be drawn where it will, the deep listening will take you places.
-
All PawsGood premise; sloppy storytellingThe premise is intriguing, but looseness with details and sloppy storytelling undercut it. Upon relistening, I have to say these guys are the worst kind of idiots…the kind who are more in love with their own theories than the search for truth. And for the love of all that’s good and holy, it’s pronounced “Lestersher” not “Lychestershire”.
-
SFC GrahamGreat podcast. The Penny Royal phenomenon is easy to get drawn into. The investigation into the phenomenon using different sources and experts makes it easily understood.
-
Jimbo o oIncredibleAmazing show I love it

Chuck DumpsterDr Reynaldo Anderson / CharlatanSeems like the show is doing a disservice in episode 9 season 2 in regard to hidden history/ alt-history. Major assumptions and broad strokes abound in an effort to sully certain esoteric ideologies. Lazy , half researched opinions on certain figures and beliefs within the esoteric world almost in an effort to distance the show from any possible SJW critisicm. They go as far as interviewing a proffesor of some sort from Temple in Philly. Dr Anderson is partially informed on alot of his esoteric history and seems to be incapable of objectively discussing certain historical narratives without falsely painting the left as some sort of altruistic force in American history. It really demonstrated his lack of research and his gullibility. Worse still , was the podcasts sudden rigid submission to the left/right paradigm that I assumed the creators werent naive enough to fall for. I seek shows like this to escape the “ light switch brained thinking” of the status quo . Sadly, PennyRoyal seems to now have fallen in the trap. So RIP to what was once a decent podcast and has become no different than an SNL skit. Peace!

huckginnSchlockIf grasping at straws was podcast. Better before it full woke

EmmyB1023Sit down and buckle up!This podcast is not a ride for everyone. Buy the ticket, sit down and take the ride down the rabbit hole. You’re in for a wonderland of mystery!
-
Drohtin19Compelling podcastI have seldom found my attention so drawn by a podcast or by programming of other media. Not only is the material and narrative presentation compelling, but the high production value and the music draw my imagination further in.

Bar Nichole BillyLong road to trump.Lexington native living on the other side of the planet. Wanted to enjoy this as a connection to my home grounds and love for Fortean weirdness, cryptids and local legends. Second season comes with a barrage of cheap sci fi sound effects over unimportant (and unedited) rambling. Lastly, episode 9 goes for the cheap and intellectually lazy “ America is racist and a bunch of Yahtzees”. What does that nonsense have to do with little green men and high weirdness?
-
Dixie NicholsonStunningThis is by far the best narrative of interdisciplinary high strangeness I’ve come across in a very long time. Full of love and will—true crazy wisdom
-
cliff.macLike Helier but grounded in realityGreat show. It’s kind of similar to S-Town and the black tapes in the scope and execution.
-
DivineSunshine33Show took a FAR left turn.Went from occult esoteric mysteries of America to suddenly championing Antifa and vilifying conservatives and conspiracy theorists. The bias against orthodox Christianity was particularly alarming.
-
KlucilleThis all feels real importantAnd I’m so glad y’all roped me in! I will def have to listen to season 2 a few more times, there’s so much there. Thank you for all of the hard work and research!
-
JfromMOGreat first season, flop of a second season. This was a podcast that I looked forward to every week, and I recommended it to many people. Halfway through the second season, the wheels began to fall off and it devolved into some left wing propaganda that made it seem like you would find a racist/fascist under every rock down every back road in Kentucky. Maybe they will find their footing again for season 3, but I won’t be there to find out.
-
124462826363Grasping at strawsI was willing to overlook the completely disjointed presentation of mystery at first, but it continued to get into banal politics throughout the second season and eventually becoming the very definition of "conspiracy without theory" and designating themselves as fascists through their own definitions without a shred of irony, objectivity or self awareness. Very sad to see what began as a show about local cryptids, albeit riding the coattails of Hellier, become full-on rhetoric nonsense.
-
KatieHJInformation overload, a good thing!!These episodes are jam packed with an astronomical amount of high strangeness. I’ve listened to each episode 3-4 times, there is SO MUCH to absorb. Super grateful for all the energy put into this illuminating work- mind blown each episode

Annaleah0810/10 will recommend to a friend!I heard about Nathan and his podcast through one of my personal favorite podcasts “ conspiracy unlimited” with Richard Syrett and this is officially moved onto my personal favorites!😍 Pennyroyal KY came up on my AncestryDNA as to where my ancestors settled when they came to the US and ever since I’ve been fascinated by the area! If only I could hear the stories they told, that area probably spooked them to keep moving west into MO which is where they resided! Lol Thanks so much for all you guys do! LOVE everything about this podcast!
-
Jen camAnswers to how the hard right infected ForteanaI wish the FBI would listen to this. Y’all have found some key nuggets to how alt-right nazism has destroyed my love of Fortean Studies. I’m old enough to remember when high strangeness belonged to we progressive creative types.
-
chuckfortianAmazing! This podcast ticks all my boxes, paranormal, true crime, conspiracies and fine arts!
-
Friedrice&corncakediving into the heart of darknessThe best podcasts have a narrow focus — this one deals with the strangeness of Somerset KY and there is quite a lot of strange there. Yes, the podcast meanders a bit and would benefit from editing the more unwieldly interviews but it’s diving into the heart of darkness. If you enjoyed Hellier you will enjoy this strange trip.
-
Dave S. Roll CallWowWow! Ha, season one was excellent, and season 2 is starting very, very strong, excellent work!
-
RnhoLove it!! Can’t wait to hear season 2!!!Overcast app shows release every afternoon? Big disappointment there. Please update so I can rearrange my entire life schedule around the release of these episodes! Many thanks!
-
MondopazzoGood showThe most interesting person on Helier. Was glad to hear an interview with him somewhere that he was plugging the show on. I like it. Not perfect but absolutely fascinating! If they make more episode they really need to work on making the sound quality more consistent.
-
Phil_Goodrich_artFascinatingThis podcast is fascinating and compelling. I keep checking back for season 2!!!
-
40KC5The Perfect Follow Up To HellierIf you loved Hellier then this is the perfect follow up and a great addition to the rabbit hole of high strangeness surrounding Hellier & Summsert Kentucky, and the Pan phenomenon!
-
Bryzness ManEverything isn’t a synchroWanted to love it but can’t help feeling that after 7 episodes, you could go anywhere in the world and interview enough mentally ill people to make that place look “special”. Episode 6/7 were the toughest to listen to, bordering exploitation. Format wise, introduce who you’re talking to…

SmokeymtndudeMy Family is among the oldest in Pulaski County1st There is a lot of truth, in what is talked about in this podcast, but you need to dig deeper, away from Danny Dutton. Mt Victory plays a important role in this podcast, but a mere 7 miles east is more mysteries that tie into these. Good Luck and I love that someone is finally doing something on this area of the state.
-
birdnmooseReally wanted to love it but…The area discussed in this podcast takes place very near my hometown and I was very interested in the story. However, it never quite lives up to its potential. Each new topic is presented without careful development to explain WHY we should care and HOW each thread connects to the larger plot line. It comes off as random, disparate ramblings without proper context. The meaning behind the woo gets muddled and hard to understand. The interviews come across as extremely self indulgent without proper editing. I hope if this comes back for a second season that production is cleaner with a tighter storyline.

AnonomyssyNew Favorite Podcast.Heard these guys on another podcast and had a listen. Now it’s my new favorite podcast and I want to coMe explore Kentucky which is apparently an energetic match to Sedona! Who knew? But what’s with the opera???
