    Oddly Comforting
I know this is technically a horror podcast, but its always been a comfort. Mx. Wellman's voice and writing style fits the story perfectly. I was hooked into the story right away and quickly fell in love with the characters. The Hallowoods is a spooky place that is protective of its creations, and you (the dreamer) are free to explore it with Nickingnick there to guide you.

Listen to me. You need to listen to this podcast.
At first you’re going to be confused. Why are there so many characters, and why does the story jump to so many random people all the time? But then you get invested. You realize that their stories start to interconnect. People meet, become friends, become enemies, and you get to know all of them through both their own point of view and the point of view of others. The voice acting is all done by mx. wellman but they do an incredible job differentiating between the voices, and I find myself *easily* immersed. If you’re looking for a great horror podcast to fill that void this will do the trick (and possibly open up even more voids. Who knows ;)
  • KeybladeGirl
    Poor acting
Monotonous, newscast-style acting kills the story. I can’t listen to a guy who only has one tone of voice, even if it’s supposed to be a spooky voice.

    I love this story
This audio drama is a big comfort to me. I listen when I m going to sleep and it’s just wonderful. The world building, the characters, the sound , the general vibe , all wonderful. They all feel so Alive.

    LISTEN TO THIS ISTG
The philosophy of this podcast is absolutely gorgeous. It is so brilliantly delivered and genuinely provoked thought about my life and relationships in a far kinder light. Although Nikignik voicing everyone is hard to get used to at first, Wellman is extremely skilled with vocal differentiations and you quickly get immersed in the story (which is of course also brilliant). I thank my boyfriend every time I listen for introducing me to this amazing podcast. Polly my king!!!

    More than a phenomenal podcast
Hello from the Hallowoods is more than just a phenomenal podcast—it’s one of the best ongoing stories I’ve ever engaged with. I am constantly pulled deeper by every new episode, and the format enhances the story in every way. Mx. Wellman is incredible, and their wide-range of skills is continuously impressive. I look forward to all of the years of Hallowoods to come. Also: I would die for Mort

    One of the classics
I had no idea what to expect going in I just knew it was popular among people who enjoyed other podcasts I listened to and oh man oh boy was this podcast fantastic. It’s something like hearing a story you loved very much when you were a little kid. It’s fantastical and caring and monstrous and so well put together.
  • Altheawkward
    Fantastic
I really love how they incorporate a wide variety of characters who have a wide variety of genders, sexualities , and personalities without it feeling forced. I’m only on the first season so my review might update, but this is easily one of the most bingeable podcast I’ve listened to in a while. The narrator’s voice is soothing . I don’t think there’s any other show I can think of that can be described as a “hopeful apocalyptical horrror” but it’s exactly that. As a optimistic nihilist it scratches an itch. All in all, I can’t wait to see where the show goes.

    Beautiful
This show is the perfect example of what good horror should be. I feel uncomfortable and spooked but I also love the monster and feel a connection to the story. The episode artwork is also gorgeous

    gently apocalyptic
The writing is so good, and I love how relatable the characters tend to be, and the representation for the different kinds of people & relationships. The philosophy is impactful and doesn't feel condescending or fortune-cookie, and the world building is on point.

    Hopeful Dystopia
Hopeful horror with fairy-tale, post- apocalypse, capitalist environmental dystopia vibes. In spirit it's sorta a mashup of Over The Garden Wall (spooky undead forest) and Welcome to Night Vale (narrator's cadence reminded me of Cecil's in the beginning) while being distinct from those media. The narration is comforting, vivid, emotional, and poetic, giving a fairy tale vibe (which is how I forgave the quick development of some of the romances) and I especially love the intro sequences and how they tie into each episode. A nitpick I have with the prose is a slight tendency towards unneccesary epithets. The narrator is wonderful and I love how they portray the characters, giving them distinct voices. The character dynamics, especially the friendships, are enjoyable. The fantasy elements of the worldbuilding satisfyingly blend with the post-apocalyptic sci-fi elements (the dreaming boxes). While a bit disorienting at first as you're thrown head first into the world, the plot threads come together in a satisfying way.

    Felt weird at first
And then I dove head first into The Hallowoods!

    Spooky and Poetic
This podcast has the atmosphere of sneaking into a haunted house with your friends to eat chips, but with more sophistication. The tongue-in-cheek is definitely there, don’t get me wrong. I was surprised to get laughs in between the chills. The cadence of the narration, coupled with the evocative imagery, put me in mind of a themed poetry reading.

    An absolute gem
This is one of my favorite podcasts. The opening is iconic. The reoccurring themes of compassion and friendship, juxtaposed against the apocalyptic misery of the Hallowoods is beautiful and touching. Highly recommended.

    Awesome Work!
This is such a good story! Creepy and touching as well as constantly intriguing. Thank you for sharing this creation with us!

I love this podcast so much
A beautiful blend of horrific fantastical imagery, eldritch philosophical musings, and textured character interactions, this story is masterfully created. The fact that (nearly) all characters are voiced by the same person, yet have their own distinct voices is incredibly impressive, and it gives the podcast a very rounded and continuous, yet not monotone feel. Also, I really appreciate the presence of so many distinct and fleshed out queer people (as written by a creator who uses they/them pronouns too!). I can’t wait to see where this astounding story goes!

    Best Voices
I am so hooked on this narrators voice. I was nervous going in because, for me, no matter how good the story the narrators voice makes or breaks it. I know others have also mentioned it but if youre a fan of The Magnus Archives you'll find your next podcast fixation here!

One of the best podcasts I’ve listened to.
I love this podcast so much!! The characters are very interesting, and the writing is PHENOMENAL. There’s so much representation, and if you enjoy Welcome to Night Vale or The Magnus Archives, you won’t regret listening to this.
  • That one gamer! !!!
    I love this show.
Not only is the writing AMAZING- I **love** the characters. I am obsessed and you should enjoy this podcast too!

SO glad I found this podcast!
Every episode is such a treat, I’ve fallen in love with this cast and I’m eager to learn more about their stories! The writing is so well crafted and beautiful, not to mention the plethora of lgbtq characters! Seeing such wonderful representation makes me so happy, I can’t wait to keep listening!

    Like a Haunted Hug
This podcast is like Welcome To Night Vale's plot driven and moodier 2nd cousin. In the beginning it is a pleasantly creepy, if not confusing ride, but once you listen to a few episodes and start to put the pieces together you'll only enjoy it more. I am very impressed with Wellman's range of narration, and never have issues telling characters apart. The queer repesentation is also fantastic.

I love the format and seeing queer producers that are interested in quality content! Have I said I love designs of the episode arts? Really appreciate William’s amazing content and would recommend to subscribe right away!

    SUPER!!! I know the Creator!!!
I spoke to William the multi-talented creator of the Hello from Hallowoods show myself. For the show, he writes the short stories, breathes new life by narrating all the characters, editing, refining, incorporating music and sound effects into a cohesive storyline. What you will find in the proceeding episodes are dark tales on humans...and non-humans, which will jolt you to question your own reality and the reality that surrounds you. Are you even real? Are you in your own bedroom or are you now lost in the Hallowoods?
