Favorite pistons pod and it's not close!

For about a year I’ve been consistently listening to an nba podcast about a team that won 17 games last year, which sounds crazy when I type it out. These dudes love basketball. The fan/reporter dynamic works well thanks to their mutual respect and chemistry

As a diehard pistons fan I have been following James work at the athletic for a while and have been a big fan. When I first found the podcast about 7 months ago I wasn’t quite sure who Nick was or have any opinion of him. He seemed knowledgeable about the game for a while than would sound like a lunatic talking about how awesome James Weismann was. After about an episode and a half I realized he is knowledgeable about the game but completely emotional and fanatical about the Pistons. Which I can totally relate to. The dynamic of having a great reporter and a knowledgeable basketball fan who is sometimes irrational about the team he loves is a ton of fun, unique, and relatable. Highly recommend for any pistons fan.

Keep up the great work, I’ve been listening/found you guys this past June and find you guys the most credible and entertaining of all the Pistons pods. Side note: since I’m recent to the show, I had never heard the smoke alarm story. Nick, that is 100% what single me would have done, so you’re not alone, right down to losing it for a month and a half and just tolerating the beep. 😂

Each episode, Edwards spends most of the time complaining about his co-host, fans’ ignorance, and social media haters. One of the most unlistenable podcasters due to his continuous irritability with basic questions and need to assert his journalistic neutrality at every minute.

The May 8th, 2023 episode explains why the shows rating will always be low and James Edwards will never be anything more than an unpopular paid pistons beat writer. The last ten minutes is used by James to explain his integrity and why he could care less if the team is 82-0 or 0-82. As well as explaining he also doesn’t care who the pistons hire for a head coach. Thank you James, trust me, we already get it. You don’t care. You’re a paid pawn that is very careful to not upset anyone so you can continue to receive your paycheck. Congrats. Pistons fans are passionate and we want to hear passionate people that have opinions, insight, and can use their resources to offer strong predictions and takes. This is something you have never done, and quite frankly, don’t have the plums to do in the future. But we listen because we care about the team, and outside of the locked-on Pistons podcast and Ku, nobody expresses their true opinion. Be better, have the same passion for Pistons basketball as you do music.

I wished had a designated segment of like 10 minutes for less where they talk outside the Pistons. Just a quick look on the league and their thoughts on trades and how teams look. I know everyone listens to this podcast for the Pistons, but it’d be interesting to see their opinions on certain games, trades, or events non-pistons relate get their own designated segment instead of scattered throughout shows.

In a world where we can get so detached from the people we consume media from, James and Nick are obviously great at what they do, but they also are people. Just two dudes who are themselves and the fanbase is better for it.

You have so much promise but make it nearly unlistenable with wokeness… that’s why we don’t watch espn and turn to pods. Masks on your cover, previous of vax talk (how’s that looking now lol) & now shout out vasectomies? Goodness gracious guys get a grip

This is such a fantastic show on every level. It goes into good detail, doesn't waste too much time on nonesense, but allows it to be free flowing and always brings it back to the Detroit Pistons. Nick has a real knowlegable fandom for the Pistons and James has his journalistic perspective and access. Plus they gel so well as co-hosts - great interaction and rapport. Great show. A+, and honestly the best Pistons show. Thanks for doing this and I hope you continue. I expect you'll have a lot of success covering this Pistons rise.

Go back and look at the co-host past tweets, I don’t care about the fact that he was 15. Some of the words he used are never to be used under any circumstances, no matter the age.

I’m a Chef of 25 years. Swearing is part of our culture. But I don’t understand the apparent need to say the F word just for effect. Convoluted as well. Seems unprofessional and unprepared. Cut your bun off. Take a journalism class.

James and Nick have one of the only podcasts that I wait around for new episodes every week like a kid on Christmas. They’re entertaining, provide some really great detail and background and some thought provoking analysis of all things Pistons. Keep up the great work!

This is not just a great Pistons podcast. It’s a great podcast period. Keep up the great work, gents.

A little zany at times but overall solid content.

For two guys that are admittedly over a decade my junior, the quality of their discourse on this Podcast is severely beyond their years. Not to question their level of experience, nor their time and energy put into becoming the pros that they are, but their individual skills are on full display in this Cast in a way that few other shows can replicate. As much as I started listening for additional Pistons insight, I quickly became a fan of the individual characters behind the voices…and the dynamic that they share together is strangely reminiscent of the best nights I’ve ever had debating pure nonsense with my boys late into the night with nothing but a bottle of bourbon to fan the flames. For a still relatively new/fresh show, the Bun and Cardigan show is very polished, extremely professional, and always entertaining.

Look forward to listening to this Pod every Monday to start my week off right. Love the Story Time w/James! Detroit Basketballlll!!!!

New name for the pod: Gobblin’ Balls

These two make the best Pistons podcast, and possibly the best podcast, that I’ve ever listened to. The chemistry between two *very* opposite people is amazing to listen to in itself, let alone when they talk about the Pistons. Excited to learn even more about their personalities this summer without Pistons content🔥

But there’s been a little more swearing (by Nick) lately. I get it, but it doesn’t add a lot to the listening experience. Still 5 stars.

The hosts openly admit that they don’t care about the team their podcast is about, so why should fans listen?

Def go listen to ep. 63 I got shouted out, but otherwise I look forward to every Monday for the best views, hot takes, and opinions from James and Nic. They are the goats, and someone you can always rely on for a good time and Pistons news.

Getting worse by the episode, as Pistons careen into the same ditch. Unfortunately.more banter than basketball. Annoyingly more jocular and flippant than entertaining. Always a schtick. Preening, Talking around issues as if the audience is perpetually 19yrs old.

Feel likes the homies just talking hoops it’s good I love it , also and msu aligned people are best sports fans so I’m here for it

Just discovered this podcast and I’m hooked. Diehard pistons fan so it’s nice to know there’s other people I can share my suffering with.

Needs more structure/focus. These dudes believe their funnier than they are. James get a new partner!!

Really look forward to this podcast every week. Nick has quickly become a great host and James is knowledgeable about the tram and entertaining. Beats that end the show are 🔥too.

As I’m slowly getting back into my fandom with this team finally having a GM with a direction, I’ve really appreciated what nick and James bring to the table. Keeps me up to date on what’s going on with the team and knowledgeable insights. Keep it up fellas. The music recs at the end are a favorite part for me too.
