Roy's Job Fair

753

Work is like sex or food — you’re either getting it or looking for it. Comedian Roy Wood Jr. (correspondent on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Trevor Noah) explores the human condition every week through the prism of employment. Roy sits down with real people from ALL lines of work about their most memorable jobs, employment vacancies they're looking to fill, scams they've run at the office, and of course, the cringe-worthy office romances. Roy's famed humor is matched by his true empathy and curiosity for people. Join him on an entertaining exploration into the battle all of us fight every day. Balancing our need to provide with our need for emotional fulfillment. Learn from the people who got it right. Laugh with the rest of us, who constantly get it wrong. Welcome to the Job Fair.

I have seen Roy on the Daily Show but just thought he was just another comedian, but after seeing him at the Correspondent Dinner I was totally impressed. Now I want to know more about him, he needs to be given a show NOW! Good job Roy.

    Miss y’all
It’s barely been a month and missing my weekly dose of job fair is really affecting me; very few pods have me laughing so hard as this one did. I feel like I’m gonna have to go back and re-listen to everything all over again, just to get my fix.

    Amazing
I love Roy’s job fair. I discovered when I was super depressed and it made me laugh to my soul. It brings me joy and makes me smile. I would give it twenty stars if I could.

    Appreciate y’all
As a teacher in training who has worked in retail, customer service, and sales at for-profit and non-profit orgs, I appreciate all the work y’all do to peel back the layers of the onion that is work. You bring joy and knowledge to my life, which is what I aspire to do as an educator. I’ll be watching Roy Wood Jr. on TV like I always do. Be well, and I’ll be here when y’all get back. R.D. Katkar

Roy Wood is a comic genius and a hard working son of a gun.

Roy Wood Jr. deserves all the success he wants in life!
First off, I saw Tribulations in June and I had just gotten laid off from my job, now I’m a month into a new job and Roy out here looking for work! Roy, JG, Rod, and Ralph have been the best part of my Wednesdays the past two-ish years. So happy to listen to them have hilarious and informative conversations about the workplace. I know Roy got big things cooking up in 2023, even if he doesn’t know what it is yet. I just hope that this podcast returns whenever that bag gets secured. Thanking for helping me get through sending a bunch of resumes that never got looked at, until I put in a blurb about leading a rent strike!

    Great acoustic radio presentation!!!
Love the show! It is very well rounded. One minute it’s informative, and the next, it’s going off the rails. I’ve enjoyed every episode! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Best way to get through the day
I discovered Roy years back because of how much my wife love Trevor Noah. The show’s talent and cohesiveness is incredible. Very well produced. Learning about different careers is something and I never realized was important. The advice given has helped me through my professional career and being a better husband and father. I applaud the great work done. Loved the burn out episode I can’t wait for the return.

My only Pod worth normal speed listening
@ job fair crew, [black doctor alert siren] Im a resident physician in LA with an hour long commute to the hospital. I look forward to Wednesdays every week - as they’re the only break I take from either the news or medical podcasts, both of which I listen to at x1.75 speed. Yours is the only one I take the time to listen, howl, and belly laugh at - x1.0 speed. I can’t count the number of times I’ve identified with people in wholly different jobs than my own as a result of this podcast, and hearing JG talk about the pivot has meant so much as I consider my options on this next year. Y’all better listen to this joint so they come back. 5 stars. P.s. Rod is a walking public service announcement, to simps everywhere.

Laughing so hard that I’m crying
I can only listen to this pod when I’m at home because otherwise people would look at me sideways for cackling so hard. Love the pod and the chemistry of the crew is fantastic!

    Now Hiring
I work at a warehouse mostly run by us black guys. We would like to request a temporary hire for JG. She’s too sweet for the show and has an outdated mind to almost anything on the show. We would like a temp suspension for her for the last 4-5 guys she stood up at the altar.

Top two favorite podcasts and you’re not #2. However, Let me talk to you real quick!!!
I just wanted to chime in on the Jeffrey Danham hub bub bub. So to answer the question Roy asked “ Can you be racist as a ventriloquist , if you( the comic) are disappearing into a persona of another thing (dummy)?” And the answer is yes, and it maybe more than a comic using a racist trope or slur. Because of the extra effort of him crafting a black doll as a conduit for his material. It’s like blackface via ventriloquism. Is a physical symbol of the joke. An example is Mami figurines. When the job is to be funny and you use provocative means as a tool often enough people get mad. But, that’s what make comedy an art, and JD a professional comic. JD took the risk and the world lite him up for it. And he has been compensated well for his attempt. So that’s my two cents. I love the show and that you guys are entertaining this dialogue. This podcast and the work all you do is essential and appreciated.

    Funny as heck!
This is an unconventional approach to understanding the positive and negatives about employment. The hosts are funny and the lighthearted advice for real life - employment woes (and highs) is amazing.

One of my two favorite podcasts
…and I subscribe to a LOT of podcasts. Your fine acoustical programming garners my first podcast review. Unless RWJ gets promoted, I and the people need this show in our lives and - for the culture.

Best show released on a Wednesday
I’m really glad I gave this show a chance because I have enjoyed every single second of it. Roy is amazing and funny, 3rd is literally a breath of fresh air and his laugh is downright infectious, JG is a saint, needs to be paid more for what she has to tolerate and is the show’s center of gravity. Not enough can be said about Rod4short except he does derail the show but does it so masterfully and artfully you have literally no idea how it’s going to go and it’s marvelous.
  • StaycieF
    I love Job Fair
This is one of the funniest podcast. It makes me look like a crazy person in the car because I’m cackling & cracking up while I commute. Please make more 😂

    Wednesdays Bump
The show is very entertaining. Each member brings their best forward and really adds to whatever the topic is. Makes getting over and through the Wednesday bump more fun. Also great to catch up if too many Wednesdays are spent drowning in work duties

I look forward to Wednesday b/c of this podcast
Roy has a hit on his hands with this podcast. Every week I look forward to the witty banter between him, JG, 3rd and Rod. I’ve learned so much about industries I knew nothing about because of this podcast. Keep up the great work guys!
  • Iffy Tay
    Ralph shut up
I love this show but Ralph shut up when the guest are talking. Let them get a little time. You talk the whole show and step all over the guest.
