For every horror title to hit V.O.D ... there are countless others that end up D.O.A. ... DEVELOPMENT HELL is the podcast dedicated to unearthing these cursed horror productions, to find out what went wrong, and decide if they still stand a shot at the green light.

Join Dread Central's managing editor, Josh Korngut, as he digs up the dirt on the best horror movies never made. Discover dead projects like ALIEN 5, BEETLEJUICE GOES HAWAIIAN, HALLOWEEN 3D, FREDDY VS. JASON VS. ASH, and many more.

Josh also picks the brains of some of the most exciting voices in horror, like Elvira (ELVIRA MISTRESS OF THE DARK), Radio Silence (SCREAM 6), Grady Hendrix (MY BEST FRIEND'S EXORCISM), Carter Smith (THE RUINS), Peaches Christ (ALL ABOUT EVIL), Simon Barrett (YOU'RE NEXT), and William Brent Bell (ORPHAN: FIRST KILL).

Tons of room for easy improvement
Just… bare minimum stuff for a show like this: Watch the films of the director being discussed. Absolutely do not have a guest on and then ask them to describe the movies you neglected to watch in preparation. Incredible concept for a pod that would be elevated by some controllable variables.

    Good concept, bad host
Seriously, how is this guy an editor for Dread Central?? He frequently hasn’t seen sequels (sleepaway camp 2-3, Psycho 2-3) yet tries talking about unmade films in the series while bashing the films he hasn’t seen. Information is frequently wrong and he has no clue who directors of even modern films are proving he is not not much a horror or even film fan. Typically they don’t even discuss the actual unmade sequel until the last quarter of the episode. The earlier episodes are virtually unlistenable due to his constant adding of quips and ‘quirky’ one-liners to just about every sentence, and thankfully newer episodes have toned that down but as it stands, this is a very bad version of The Best Movies Never Made podcast. Advice for Josh: please get a more knowledgeable co-host and actually put effort into research.

    The. Best.
What a super fun topic for a podcast! I love the adventures the episodes have taken me on and I find host Josh Korngut absolutely adorable. His love for the horror genre is palpable. 5 out of 5 Scream Queens recommends!

    Meh
I really like the topics, but the host is annoying. Beyond annoying. I don’t like his personality or his voice and it doesn’t really seem like he knows what he’s talking about most of the time.

    Do they even research
It just seems like they don’t research the movies the unmade sequels are sequels of. Also…. The host seems to hate and despise older horror movies.

    Very Funny w/ Great Perspective
I really like this podcast. Josh presents a lot of good information and is always lighthearted and funny in his delivery. Yes, sometimes he gets the occasional factoid wrong. But, honestly, who cares? No single person is a walking horror encyclopedia all the time. This podcast is conversational, and we all get things wrong sometimes. What matters is that it’s extremely entertaining.

    No research
Too much talking about things he doesn’t know about

    Great Concept-Terrible Host
I wanted to like this podcast a lot. But the host’s voice and lack of professionalism (no research, constant contradictions, inability to stay on topic) is too distracting. I expected better from Dreadcentral.

    Too bad
Absolutely fantastic concept for a podcast. My problem is mainly with the host. Really bad voice for podcasting, can’t stay on topic, and his research is poor. The guests are not great and don’t have anything to do with the movie being discussed. I keep trying to like this. I listened to the sleepaway camp 4 episode and the host and the guest who says he is a director because he made a short film go back and forth with no clue. Neither could be bothered to watch 2 or 3, and the info by the host was right from Wikipedia. I had to turn it off when they said it was just like Psycho 2 and 3 which neither had seen either. I would think Dread Central would have someone who has seen horror movies host a show. Guess not

    JAWS 3-D is from 1983
I’m listening to the podcast on JAWS 3, and the guy keeps saying it’s from the late 70s. His co-host says it’s from the 80s, and he corrects her and says it’s from 1978. JAWS 3-D is from 1983. Truth be told, this show gets me yelling in my car a lot with the lack of homework done, but otherwise it’s OK.

    Peaches Christ
The first episode I listened to feature legendary drag Queen Peaches Christ, so obviously this gets 5 stars.

    Awesome
Great idea for a podcast. I love all the possibilities of the franchises. I think the show works best with a guest but the shows with just the host are more focused. Good either way. Love it.
