Started out a fan, but will choose not to continue
I think the reviews against Thomas are a little overboard, and I can’t even recall him fat shaming (this coming from an overweight runner). I enjoy their camaraderie. What I have been bothered by is the last podcast where a professional such as Meghann implied that a trend towards alcohol reduction is just coming from young influencers who aren’t even old enough to drink. What!!?? So much research out there for reasons NOT to drink, and a nutritionist we all look up to would dismiss it as unfounded. That was totally wild to me, and I lost respect. I know I don’t matter in the course of all things, but it’s just my opinion.

    Thomas Take a Back Seat
Thomas’s constant interruptions and need to make jokes dilute the listening experience. All of us listen for fueling information. Please stop interrupting and save your attempts for comedy for your other show.

    Great podcast
I really enjoy and look forward to listening to this podcast. Thomas adds humor. Some reviews mention that he interrupts but I just see it as friends sitting around chatting it up and answering a few questions in the process. It’s fun, it’s educational and it’s needed. No other podcast focuses ‘solely’ 😉 on running nutrition. I’m not even close to being at the same level with them as far as performance goes but as a 54 y.o. who found running late in life I’m trying to stay out there, feel good and finish. The information here helps me do just that.

    Need to work the levels
Good info, good banter, BUT this is tough to listen to. One person will start mumbling so you have to turn the volume up then another one will bust out laughing and the volume and noise makes you cringe. Oftentimes find this podcast painful to listen to.

    Unfortunate
As someone with a background in Nutrition as well as a M.D. I totally geek out with Meghann. Her knowledge and ability to breakdown complex scientific articles to help endurances athletes perform is unparalleled. However…. Thomas’ fat shaming, interruptions and opposition to the medical field discounts every amazing thing Meghann brings to the show.

    Great except for one thing…
Love the info- it’s amazing and helpful. The only negative is Thomas’ constant interrupting and talking over Meghann. It’s too much.

    Had to Quit.
Meghann is putting out such crucial knowledge, but I’m going to have to stick to getting it from her Instagram, blog, newsletter, etc., as I can no longer handle Thomas constantly interrupting her on this podcast, especially when he lacks her expertise and credentials. His fat-shaming on a recent episode was the last straw for me.

    Love the information! But
I’ve been a listener for a very long time, maybe a year. I love Feathers info so much, and the banter is fun and refreshing. Lately, I’ve found myself very annoyed at Thomas (so sorry Thomas) because he interrupts Feathers or gives his opinion before she answers. It’s just seemed more and more lately. I love the drop, so I’m not anti Thomas, I just listen to this podcast for Feather’s professional knowledge.

    I’m Torn…
I really enjoy Featherstun and she has changed my fueling (for her, I’d give five stars!) but Thomas is making it very difficult for me to continue subscribing to the podcast. At best, he adds very little substance to the conversation; at worst, he answers questions without a background in sports nutrition when a subject expert is *right there*, distracts from a productive conversation by talking about making his wife feed him, and even fat-shaming. Please consider retiring him from the program. If you would like to incorporate a non-female voice, there are surely male or non-binary sports dietitians who would add to the conversation.

    Great info and fun banter
I appreciate the info especially as it is pertaining to running and performing well. I used to try and eat less to stay small, but as I’m getting more into running I’m more focused on eating well to be strong and healthy. I appreciate the focus on weight and fueling to perform your best! Thanks for all the info, I know you research what you put out there so I trust your content!

    THANK YOU!
I listen all the time, but never wrote a review. The clean up after the Dr. Phil Maffetone episode was amazing!!!! So level headed, clear and rational. You always have great info and content, but this one was truly BONUS! Ty!
  • AnnaNeu
    Aug 15 Bonus Episode
I love this podcast, but the Aug 15 Bonus Episode response to the Maffetone interview was a great example of why I appreciate this show. Running is for everyone, and if we want to encourage all people to run (which should be everyone, but especially someone who is selling a running methodology), I think it’s important to celebrate that we’re going to have all kinds of people lining up for a marathon. And along that same line of thinking, that means different fueling strategies are going to work for different people.

    Informative, real, funny
There is so much to love about the Fuel for the Sole Podcast. It provides a wealth of information about running for runners of all levels. There is absolutely no judgment for slower runners, but rather encouragement. The episodes aren't targeted at specific groups, but inclusive of all runners. The hosts include entertaining banter and are very realistic about running! I look forward to listening, and am so thankful for this podcast! I listened while training for my first full marathon, and am now doing what I never thought I'd do--train for a second! Thanks, Fuel for the Sole, for the motivation, inspiration, and encouragement!

This Podcast Has Helped Me So Much!
This podcast provides a wealth of practical information on all things related to fueling for endurance sports. I am so grateful to have found it. My dog is too because it means more walks for her while I listen. I look forward to new episodes.

    Super beneficial advice!!
This podcast is great for runners! Lots of practical advice that is easy to employ. I used many of Meaghan’s tips and advice to get a 14 minute marathon PR a few weeks ago…nutrition & fuel are so important!!
  • SarahRocksPRs
Making sense of all the info!
This is such a fun podcast! Super helpful from a nutrition standpoint - there is so much information, products, claims, etc. out there, it’s hard to make sense of it all. Happy to listen to a team that gives it straight. Appreciate you all! PS - it’s already hot girl summer here in Phoenix, AZ - so please consider stopping out here!!

    Love it!
I discovered this podcast just a month ago. Since then I have listened to every single episode released. I’m so glad to have found you. Knowledge I gained is probably the only reason why I was able to crush my half marathon two days ago in Florida heat. It was hard but without carb loading and proper hydration I would have been in serious trouble. I look forward to learning more as I am about to start training for fall marathon. Love you guys!

    Four squares of good info
It’s so refreshing to listen to a running podcast that’s full of sensible, actionable advice based in evidence, versus tied to an ideology or a particular diet agenda.
  • SailingSeas
    Love this podcast
I listen to this podcast on a cross training day each week. Thank you Meghann for pouring out your wisdom and knowledge each week! Thomas’s comments always make me laugh. 🤣
  • MDoss22
    Excellent!
Love listening to these three together! Excellent topics, science backed advice, and plenty of banter. Thank you for putting out such great content and keeping it fun!

    Essential for endurance sports enthusiasts
Truly one of the most informative, evidence based podcasts for all things related to sports nutrition. It’s efficient, easily digestible and memorable content that will have you fueling your best for miles on miles.
  • Trdmm
    Love!
I love listening and geeking out about all the fueling challenges runners face! Feathers is a wealth of information and Thomas and Meghan add a lot of practical experience. Meghan does a great job summing up the main points at the end and Thomas brings the humor. I’ve learned so much from listening!

Excellent and detailed info for performance nutrition
This podcast has helped me to understand what’s required to get the best performance out of myself in terms of fueling and nutrition. The two Megs and Thomas cover so many topics that are relevant to running well, from supplements to meal timing to how much fuel to take in while racing. Bonus points for also leading me to Featherstone Nutrition’s website, which has so many incredible recipes as well as a carb load and other calculators. If you’re a runner, this is a must-listen.
  • KMGruns
    So much good info!
Based in science and super helpful to understand fueling trends, issues and opportunities!

A must listen for practical running nutrition advice
As someone who isn't a nutritionist or sports scientist by trade, I often find myself feeling overwhelmed by the sheer amount of conflicting information out there. The hosts do an incredible job of breaking down the latest research on sports nutrition and translating it into practical tips that runners of all levels can easily apply to their own training. I feel like I'm finally able to cut through the noise and get practical, engaging, and evidence-based advice that I can actually use! Bottom-line: If you're a runner looking an engaging podcast to up your nutrition/running game, this is a must-listen! You won't be disappointed. Thank you!

    Best Nutrition and Running Podcast!
I cannot recommend this podcast enough to any endurance athlete wanting to nail their nutrition. Have listened to others but the chemistry between all three hosts is fantastic. Highly entertaining as well as educational. It was a game-changer in my performance. I’ve been able to understand how my needs were not being met, made some simple nutrition changes and have taken off 32 mins in my marathon time and see so much more potential. You must listen if you want to level up your nutrition to perform your best!
  • Lainey18
    One word… amazing!!!
This is by far my favorite running podcast! It blends comedy with science based nutrition advice for the endurance athlete. It is easy to understand and never long enough! I have learned so much from podcast that helped me shave 11 min off my marathon time! Go carbs! My only con is that a new episode comes out every other week! I wish I could hear them weekly!! Thank you so much for this amazing resource!

    Honest and informed advice
It’s great to hear advice that is well researched, unbiased , and not just an informercial for a vendor! Feathers and the BITR team keep the conversation fun and interesting while delivering great advise on how to better fuel our efforts. Five stars!
  • shyport
Great content if Thomas would stop interrupting
This pod puts out a lot of great content for runners. But I have a real pet peeve for hosts who constantly interrupt their cohosts. That would be Thomas in this case. He will fully interrupt someone while they’re MID-SENTENCE to interject his own thoughts. It comes across as rude and is also unhelpful to the listener who was interested in the rest of what the first person had to say. Meghann should consider branching of starting her own pod…I’d subscribe in a heartbeat.
  • mikeintheboro
You don’t know, what you don’t know
This is by far the easiest to digest podcast on all things nutrition and hydration. As a non-elite (working for sub 3 BQ) runner I didn’t know what I was missing in my training from a nutrition, calorie, protein and sodium perspective. And they don’t make you feel dumb, cuz Thomas asks the same questions I would.
  • FiFi_Kris
    Fuel for the Sole rocks
So stoked about finally finding this podcast. The hosts are engaging and the episodes are perfect in length. The information is presented so everyone can understand and even the hosts will jump in with ‘so what I hear you saying…’. It has really helped me to focus better on the nutrition behind my running and strength training.

This podcast made me realize that gels aren’t the problem!
I thought I just couldn’t take gels. But I learned that I was under fueling and under hydrating. After listening to this podcast I finished a 70.3 without feeling like I wanted to puke. And I used gels for the whole race!
  • Robert Hanson
    My favorite podcast!!!!
This podcast is packed with practical nutrition information. Just finished 16 miles with you all in my ear. And you better believe I was fueling every 30 minutes. Game changer!! Thank you for all your great advice!!
  • Spunge24
    Listening over and over!
This podcast is so informative and really has made a difference in my running. Meghann gives out all her knowledge and Meaghan and Thomas ask the exact questions I’m thinking while listening. I definitely listen to these over and over when I need a reminder. Thanks everyone! Peas and carrots.

    The wall? Never encountered it
Feathers’ nutrition advice and carbo loading plan got me through my first marathon without hitting the wall. I felt great from the start all the way to 26.2. As a runner herself, she gets it and explains nutrition to those of us without a degree in it will understand. Highly recommend you supplement your listening of the drop with this pod.
  • Dotmomof2
    Episode 32
I just listened to E32 in fueling nutrition. It answered my question on why I felt like crap after Berlin. I dropped my final Ucan at mile 18 and only had my handheld that had a little electrolyte left in it. I finished feeling nauseous and I was a lighter shade of my usual pasty white. I have those Untapped and I think I’ll mix that up with my UCan. I also need to try preloading or loading earlier in my next marathon London 2023. :). Thank you very much. Going through your library now.

    Great Nutrition Info For Runners
Super entertaining podcast with nutrition information from a Registered Dietitian that is science backed! Lots of great information for all types of runners too…females, masters, vegans, you name it, they cover it!

Informative and practical nutrition tips for endurance athletes!
This is a very informative and practical podcast in which the 3 hosts answer mostly running-specific nutrition questions. The information is approachable and practical and presented in a non-intimidating manner. And it’s funny! It’s helped me to change my fueling strategy to include more salt which has improved my training very much!

    Solid advice; fun chatter
I can’t remember how I found Feathers/Featherstone Nutrition and this podcast, but it’s on my must listen list each week.

    Awesome and fun!
I love this podcast! It’s super informative but also lighthearted and fun! I’ve learned so much about run fueling and I love hearing about their running performances. Very fun podcast and I definitely will continue to listen!

Great info for the endurance athlete!
I’m so glad I stumbled upon this show! It has dealt useful information for fueling our workouts. Before this show or following Featherstone nutritionI was running fasted and trying to lose weight while training. I was also suffering from frequent headaches and multiple injuries (shocker!). After listening to their expertise, I’m now fueling efficiently, feeling great and getting PRs! Can’t recommend them enough!

    Great nutrition advice for runners!
Found this show via a friend who has worked directly with Meaghann! This show is a perfect listen for your run — learn a lot about nutrition, hear some fun running stories, and feel motivated to take control of your eating and drinking for your performance. Keep it up!
  • Aldora7
    Fantastic podcast!
I only subscribe to two podcasts and Fuel for the Sole is one of them. I have learned so much about fueling and nutrition for running. Learning about pre race carb loading has been a game changer for feeling strong at the end of races!
  • EngleSmith
    This podcast speaks to me!
I love listening to Fuel for the Sole. Their topics are so relevant to every runner and I always felt that whenever I listen they are answering the exact questions I have! I also love that they are great athletes themselves (sub 3 marathoners)... if it works for them might as well try it! The biggest takeaway is that nutrition doesn't have to be complicated or fancy! Eat some toast folks! These gals/guy are worth the listen and everyone will be able to relate!
  • Katiemae912
Trusted source for Info & Great Hosts!
One of my favorite podcasts and a trusted source for all things running / training / fueling and more! The topics covered are current and presented in a professional but fun way! I’m always making mental notes (sometimes sticky notes too) bc the topics are so relatable and straight facts are hard to find.
  • Meags816
    BEST!
Hands down one of my favorite podcasts. Science, running, FOOD! And plenty of laughs. I am always happy to see a new episode dropped that I can listen to while I run. I’ve learned a ton and love listening!
