    Love it
I’ve only listened to a couple episodes so far but I’m really enjoying it. I’ve found solace in nature my whole life and often that feels like zooming out from our human concerns making them seem infinitesimal. One thing this podcast doesn’t do is shy away from sociological human issues. It’s done in a way that feels relevant and important with a joy that feels both familiar and surprising. Highly recommended.

    Love This Podcast
I discovered Tenijah Hamilton through an interview on the Nature Guys podcast. Now I’ve listened to all of these episodes over the last week. She has a unique perspective than any bird nerd I’ve heard and I love seeing things through different eyes and I can’t wait for new episodes.

    Great podcast for anyone!
This is great for anyone, because you only need to listen and picture the birds and love them more. You don’t even need to be going outside - bird watching from your window is great. You can also do things to help birds survive, like a little food in the winter, or offer water in the summer. Reduce pesticides and put out a bushy plant in a pot, you will be doing something concrete to help the birds around you.

    Great Podcast
Tenijah Hamilton is an engaging host and storyteller. I find this podcast to be a joy to listen to. Some birding podcasts can be very dry, I love hearing not only about birds but about the diverse community and people in the birding world.

    Great podcast!
I love how this podcast has taught me so much about how birds, and birding, have had a lot of struggles over the years. It’s made me take a step back and listen to nature as i walk by it and wonder what i could do to make things better. The host is amazing, love her a lot, and love her attitude towards learning new things about bird life. Highly recommended!

    Birdability
Birdability is also a great source for us birders whose partner is disabled. My husband is blind. I check the site and a few others for wheelchair accessibility. For us this means limited rocks and roots that need to be avoided to twist his ankles. We can enjoy the day together, instead of me going without him. Also Merlin’s sound identification is awesome. It allows him to identify birds as well. I am new to birding and don’t know the calls yet. He can ask what kind of bird that makes a sound? I can answer now. He loves the call of robins.

    Enjoying Your Podcast
I’m really enjoying your podcast, and watching you spread your wings in the birding community. You also have a great voice! Your Purple Martin episode was particularly interesting to me. Thanks, and I look forward to hearing more from you!

    Refreshing and a delight
An inspiring and insightful narrative of birds, our relationship to them, tips on how to help them, as well as uplift and welcome marginalized communities into birding. Stories of BIPOC relations to the natural world aid in decolonizing what belongs to all of us. Equity in nature; a passion for our natural world is something we all belong to. Thank you so much for this podcast. What a treat 🤍

    Excellent Podcast for Everyone
This has become one of my favorite podcasts! I’ve always loved birds and have recently taken up bird watching as a safe way to get out during the pandemic. I always look forward to a new episode of this show, it’s professional yet relatable and I’ve learned so much about birds and the birding community I never would have thought about otherwise. A true treat for the ears and mind!

The cat bird discussion was lacking…
I was disappointed in the episode on cats and birds. It missed a whole benefit of having cats roaming around which is rodent control etc. my neighbors cat used to hang out in my yard all the time and he was so good at killing rats. After he died my garden was overrun with rats and now I have to have bait boxes which are not good for birds. The Audubon society is against rat poison because the poison in the rodent can get inside the bird of prey eating them. But the Audubon society is also against catsAnd thinks they should be kept inside or euthanized. So you really missed an opportunity to discuss cats and rodent control. because rat population is deeply connected to how many cats are out and about. This episode tried to be balanced but in the end it basically supports the stance of the Audubon society. Not very nuanced

Host takes us on her journey from indifference to a birder
I’m really impressed by the professionalism of this podcast. I like the it’s all about “me” the host and you should hear this too podcast. Host takes us on her journey from barely noticing birds and never tries to hide how complicated just looking at birds and being a birder can be. I shared this podcast with my friend and I’d like to listen to another season. No, after all that gushing I’m not related and I don’t know her. I’m an older white woman in Los Angeles. I hope some of her next topics are: Should you feed your feathered outside friends or not?. Ok we’ve killed 30 Trillion, How do we get back the now rarely seen birds?

    New to Birding
Really enjoy your show! I was downloading some birding apps and felt overwhelmed but now I have you! Thx!

Loved it at first, but then . . .
. . . the cat episodes were released. I don’t have an issue, per se, with the solutions presented given the intractability of feral cat supporters. However, as someone who works in songbird rehabilitation and has seen firsthand the horrific damage cats do to wild birds, Mark’s incessant giggling throughout the episodes was extremely annoying and insensitive.

    Fascinating for bird enthusiasts!
I’m an amateur birder, and this show is so fascinating! Tenijah interviews experts on topics applicable to everyone, whether you know a lot about birds or not, where you can learn about how we can care for these beautiful creatures. I am loving every episode. The host is such a joy! 5 stars 🥰

I came across your show via Bird Note. I want to say that so far it’s a great show and I am looking forward to listening to many more. I am really interested in migration of birds that are part-time residence here in the USI hope you do a show on this topic. Best wishes from Atlanta.

Hope and fun in the midst of so many crises.
This podcast offers a voice of hope and discovery. It’s chock full of bird facts, accessible science process, and love and good humor, set in a dangerous and sometimes heart-breaking world. I highly recommend it. I grew up down South, in the country, loving birds in their thousands and millions. Then I watched the shore birds disappearing, as I was told the raptors already had, saw the size of the bird flocks in the autumn dwindle to a fraction of those I’d seen as a child in the 60’s. I fed the birds from my fire escape in my Harlem apartment, and cherished the few charming feathered individuals brave enough to live alongside so many people. This podcast offers information and a path to involvement in bringing back the 3 Billion birds we have lost in this country within my lifetime: the decline I have watched happen. Set against the existential crisis of the pandemic, this podcast offers a way to look at one mass casualty - of birds - and find ways to cope with the human mass casualty event still taking place around us, though there is not yet any explicit link in the show. Still, that’s what I’m getting out of it. The path to rebuilding our bird populations is also a map to building sustainability in general, and, hopefully, a world that can be kinder and more inclusive of all the kinds of people in the world too. I’m so glad I tuned in.

    Informative and interesting!
So much to love about this podcast: (1) the host is lighthearted and brings such joy to her interviews. I love her laughter. It is hard not to smile while listening to her. (2) she is also a novice birder, so she comes at the topic with a deep interest to learn more. That fresh take on birding and conservation makes this podcast compelling. (3) the show tackles two very important issues that until recently have not intersected much in the broader conversation about each: conservation and racial justice. I can’t wait to hear more!

    Great new voice!
I listen to BirdNotes every morning and will add this. The fact that the host is a new convert to the outdoors, as a side effect of Covid, makes me so hopeful. And, despite the inevitable sadness and grief in the topic, she makes me feel confident that it won’t all be depressing. Even so, I’m looking forward to the episodes on the effects of the decline of insects, climate change, and eating of migrating songbirds in southern Italy etc.
  • a happy surprise
    More of this!
Didn’t care too much about birds, but I found out about this podcast through Twitter. This is only episode one but I really love Tenijah. I think the fact that she’s on this journey just like the rest of us is pretty cool, and I find her to be really warm! BirdNote has a good thing here and I hope they keep it going for a long time to come!!!!

    What A Cool Topic!
At first I was like “birding? what even is that?” but I am ALL FOR animal conservation so I decided to give a listen. Tenijah does such an awesome job of introducing the topic and why it’s important, but not only that, makes it fun! I also love her perspective as a black woman in a predominantly white space. Will definitely keep my eyes out for the next episode!

I love everything about this show!
This is such an educational and charming show! The soundscape is just wonderful and Tenijah is such an authentic and relatable host. I’m not much of a birding person either, but she has inspired me to start paying more attention to our winged neighbors!
