    Great selection
I loved Agatha Christie, Conan Doyle’s stories so well dramatized in all radio theater. I drive 45’ to work to and from. Listening these stories makes time fly.

    Exquisite Theater 🎭
I am impressed by the direction and effort in every story. The actors are immensely talented. The dedication to the smallest detail paints a vivid picture like sounding out of breath while being asked pointed questions paints. From the sound effects to the music, & editing this is a true joy.

    Really nice overall
A nice variety of detective shows. Thank you for your hard work. You make it look (?) sound easy.
  • OTR is the best

    Staying power
After seeing Scorsese’s film Hugo, a monstrosity of CGI overindulgence, I was put off contemporary films for ten years( not hyperbole). It’s the simplicity of the form that’s so great; it really is theatre; aural theatre. Our minds fill in everything else. I like how this show gives the range of Radio Theatre old and new. Its a great format: SK gives simple intros/ then the show.

    The Best
The time and effort needed to make these old shows listenable is amazing. Best selection and clarity I have found

The good and the bad and the commercials
A good variety of old shows but recent ones have a nasty commercial imbedded in the middle. Tales of the Texas Rangers eg is available elsewhere with no new commercials.

These stories are like a faithful friend
This podcast was like a faithful friend during an illness in which I had many sleepless nights. With radio programs, I could close my eyes and the words and music would take me away from my own troubles. And now that I'm better, I still enjoy these programs when it's "me time." What makes this collection truly 5-stars is that the host carefully choses where ads appear. There's an intro and outro rhythm so that dialogue and action are not jarringly interupted. Ads allow us to listen for free, so all OK in my book. (Plus, some of the shows have the orginal ads for chewing gum and other products. These are "fascinating" as Mr. Spock might say.)

Love this podcast, suggestion on music?
I am so grateful to have found this podcast. Wonderful collection! Forgive the nitpick but the intro / outro music is a bit jarring especially in the Miss Marple episodes. It sounds like it’s from a “blue” movie :)

    Great Podcast
Thank you for recycling these great stories. The quality on most of the episodes is exceptional. I do have to skip a few here and there, but the majority are so smooth. I think my favorites are the Hercule Poirot stories!

    Oldies but Goodies
The podcast content is exceptional, with episodes from Agatha Christie, Sam Spade, Dragnet, and Sherlock. The intro is done with a sultry voice reminiscent of the 1940s. The sound quality is great considering how old the content. This is our favorite new podcast.

    Clear, crisp sound quality
Great podcast. Good mix of radio and actor-from-book performance. Listening at the moment to a murder mystery new to me— and I’ve been a fan of this genre for decades. Well Done!
  • another Beth
Fabulous—but more P.D. James, Agatha Christie, Ngaio Marsh, and Ruth Randell!
LOVING this podcast, but I wish it focused on my—and so many other’s—favorite mystery writers. Please bring Josephine Tey on the show as well!
  • EllieSaid
Love the show but it’s POI-rot
He corrects someone in every episode. It’s Pwa-row, not Purrow
  • Dland1967
    Perfect delivery and content
I love these old shows and the way Stevie introduces them along with the calm and era appropriate music before and at the end is just thoughtful perfection.

    Perfect classic mystery radio
I’m so thrilled to find this podcast—excellent stories, real classic radio with great sound quality, and even the ads are fun. My favorites are the Agatha Christie, PD James, Sherlock Holmes, and Father Brown mysteries, but it also has the Dragnet and Sam Spade type shows as well.
  • bmanning2
Excellent choice for old time radio mysteries
Very good host - pleasant voice, seems to sincerely enjoy the genre, and not too much commentary. Clear audio and excellent curating. Is now my favorite podcast of this type. Love the Agatha Christie choices as well as the addition of Father Brown. Please do more podcasts in other genres of OTR - you're great at it!

    Wonderful blend
Excellent sound quality and sound level of reproduced radio shows. I continue to enjoyed the mix NOIR. Presenter has a rich voice.
  • THE L.A.W
How do you listen to the episodes that save to Play Next.
And how do you check on the episodes are in the right order?? Site need more work. But the quality is beautiful.
  • Hi-line
    Better than most
No loud ads. No loud ads. What a blessing. Plus, the occasional addition of an Agatha Christie radio mystery. The host is low key and enjoys the genre. Nice work. Thanks.
  • cyclefg
    Thank you!
Thank you for the wonderful variety of audio shows.

Perfect Radio Noir for Winter Nights
If you’re a film noir fan or are missing hard-boiled detective mysteries in your life, this podcast will satisfy with every Marlowe quip. Unfortunately, ample stereotypes and racisms of the time pepper in. Interesting audio time capsule that captures unique story lines, acting and entertaining sound effects, oft along with issues of yesteryear and today. Gotta love the old ads for cigarettes and liquor!
