    New Narrator Reads Too Fast
I used to really love this podcast, but the new narrator reads way too fast. It’s not conducive to falling asleep.

    Just what I needed
I have been struggling to stay asleep. I discovered the Pride and Prejudice podcast last night. As I drifted in and out of sleep all night, the narrator’s voice, the pretty music and my familiarity with the story distracted me enough to fall back asleep several times throughout the night.

    Effective, but short and infrequent
I really enjoy these and I find they do help me sleep. But 1) episodes are not released frequently enough 2) episodes are far too short. I realize she only has 7 novels, so pacing is paramount. But, for example, today’s episode is only 22 min. I need more time to fall asleep than that. I would prefer these were 45 min or so.

    Emma
Pride and prejudice was good but on Emma the narrator was too fast and louder. It was not as soothing to go to sleep to.

    Love!
I’ve listened to some episodes several times and am going to do my first full listen of Pride & Prejudice since the podcast started. The familiarity of the story with the soothing voice sends me off to sleep!

    Hyper speed
I love the subject matter and how the books are so well known that I can relax, however the new narrator reads so quickly that it’s impossible to relax and be lulled to sleep. I deeply appreciated the slow, soothing pace that was the previous narrator and encourage the new one to slow down as well. She has a nice voice and I believe concentrating on delivering the story in a calm and relaxing manner will be beneficial for many.

    Please slow down
I have loved this podcast but could the new presenter please slow down? It’s not as soothing when you rush through so quickly. The slow soothing pace is what helps you relax and fall asleep. Thank you!

Great idea but not working for me
The way she reads is very distracting and not at all soothing. She draws out words in such an odd way. “Sisteeeerrrrrs” “Howveeeerrr”.

    Emma chapter 1
    Not a soothing story voice.

    NO
Voice is awful. Sing-song, forced monotony and non inflection. Other podcasts do a much better job of reading stories in a voice that will out you to sleep and still sound normal.

    Pride and predjudice
O dear. Her voice…… no, no, and no.

So so grateful this pod exists
Thank you for being a friend! A kind, thoughtful, smooth little friend who makes the day feel safely done and the night feel a little less anxious.

    Room for improvement
The background music is nice but could be a little bit lower. Also the voice is ok but I suggest that the reader Not string out individual words, particularly the last word of every sentence. Example. she loonged to knowww. Nice pause between sentences.

I was skeptical. I was wrong
This is the best way to fall asleep. Pleasant music compliments the experience. Well done! I hope everyone enjoys a wonderful sleep.

I would have given this podcast five stars but I can not follow along with what is happening

    Soothing and well-read
This podcast is simple in its style and its execution, but it is beautifully done. The reader speaks well and with good expression; the calming music is pleasant and not too repetitive. Sometimes there seems to be a small glitch where a sentence gets read twice, but it’s not a frequent errror. I wish it were a weekly podcast instead of biweekly!

    Turns off brain
This is my go to when my brain won’t turn off. When I’m anxious I have intense vivid dreams but after falling asleep to this I have easy calm dreams. Please keep making this!

    ❤️❤️❤️
Listening to this podcast is the best part of my night time routine. I would be lost without it. I absolutely love falling to sleep to the beautiful words and stories of Jane Austen. The music and orator on this podcast are excellent. Please make more!!!

So thankful for like minded people
We live in a world where Jane Austen is a person of yesteryear. I’m so glad these women have come together and created this station. It’s my favorite podcast, it’s relaxing, and it helps me wind down. The reader is amazing. And plus we get one of the best books ever written. There are a nice bunch of us, who still admire the way they lived back then. Simple life. No technology, just life. Did I mention the reader was amazing? My husband winds down his night and listens to the podcast as well. It lulls us both to sleep, all while dreaming of a time once before. Thank you for this. You’re appreciated.

    Unlistenable.
I say this as an American: listening to an American reading classic English literature is unbearable.
  • Bitsy K
    Music
I find the music overpowering the reading.
  • TexasFerret
Would be better without the music
I was looking forward to listening to this to help me fall asleep. I often use bedtime stories for adults for this purpose. This would be much better, IMHO, without the music. I found it distracting and unhelpful. If you have episodes without music, I’d certainly listen.
  • Jimblevins
    Pride and Prejudice
Music drowns out the voice. I like the idea but have to be so alert which defeats the purpose.

    Love this!
I was JUST thinking that I wish I had a sleepy way to listen to Jane Austen books and happily I stumbled across this. I struggle with anxiety and insomnia and I frequently will go back and read Jane Austen books because it’s comforting. But reading in my device at night and having a blaring light shining in my eyes can be triggering for my senses. So this is exactly what I have been wanting. I love the background music and the cadence of the readers voice. It’s soothing and makes me feel relaxed and at peace. Thank you for making this podcast!
