OZLaroyUnbiased and Concise MessagingLong time listener, first time rater. What the Hack offers a less is more approach to technological hazards we as a species face in today’s world. The gang cover a vast array of topics that stray far from anecdotal. Meaningful content parents, teenagers, and just about anyone who touches a digital device on a daily basis… That’s the whole for us 1st world citizens.

lkakAmazing & very interestingApproached the podcast with skepticism. And was blown away with the content and participants! Every single episode has impressed me.
-
juston3smok3I used to listenThey started getting political and whining about Elon. I unfollowed and stopped listening. It was good while it lasted. Plenty of other options out there that don’t feel it’s necessary to get political and ruin it.

PzlgkBeau should go awayAdam Levin, Travis Taylor good. Beau Friedlander should just go away. Good guidance and reviews from Adam and Travis. Beau doesn’t think internet can be fixed therefore no one should do anything to fix or assist end users. Beau dismisses suggestions that continued education or training for users useful because the internet is bad and cannot be fixed therefore just forget it. Beau often rants that there is too much out there too many bots out there so resistance and regulation is useless. What was the point of the story about having the shoes tied? Yes I do agree with his own assessment that he is not being reasonable. He doesn’t care and it can’t be fixed? He is only there for the paycheck. Just go away. This is my personal aggravation speaking. What I hear from this person is aggression and rape is going to happen therefore no doctors no laws no punishment for aggressors.

Shannon GaNunWho Knew This Stuff Happened?I love listening to the show so to learn about all of the bad actors out there. It never ceases to amaze me how poorly people treat other people and how much we have to be aware of what could happen.

ShannonKEBrings issues to lifeThe best defense against cyber crime is all of us. And for the general public to dig in we need context. That’s what I love about the show — it brings to life serious issues and contextualizes the impact. Then with a tip or two also thrown in you are on your way to helping fight the good fight.

MNM7647Excellent work!!!It’s hard to find a decent and informative podcast nowadays. This one definitely worth checking. Good stories, a great source of information and learnings about cybersecurity and internet crimes! Go for it!

SpotngoobNothing short of a must listen! The gentleman on What the Hack have created a podcast that delivers amazing stories on cybercrime, which helps to understand not just the crime(s) but those whom are affected! With compassion, understanding, a little humor and a lot of knowledge, this podcast is a must hear for every online user today! Love it!

Torso1300Like but wish for more detailI enjoy this show, but like some other reviews my critical comment would be to get a little more in depth on how the featured situations unfold. So far in my listening, I feel like several guests left their interviews still not fully understanding what happened to them- this alarms me somewhat and seems like a shame when they are getting the opportunity to talk to experts about their scam experience. Honestly I feel like these guests may fall victim a second time if they don’t understand that they allowed remote software on their computer, for an example. Now perhaps this is a function of editing and keeping the show’s lightness and brevity, but it does disturb me in some episodes.

brownwraithTitle theftI’ve heard of this issue from the bigger pockets podcast and forums. The easiest way to keep your property title from being stolen is to put a $100 or so lean on the property. Before the title can be transferred the lien holder has to be contacted to make sure thenkein has been cleared. That puts friction in the transaction to slow or stop it. Maybe contact them to do a deeper dive on the whole situation.

Aaa641580531This is so good!Heard about this through Click Here but I was itching for more cyber and scam stuff after listening to Shoot the Messenger about Pegasus. This show is really great. I think it really is the guests they bring on. They are great conversationalists and the hosts ask really great insightful questions. It’s not just another interview type podcast; you will learn a lot. Love it! Keep it up y’all!

SumsmitusToo politicallIf you are interested in just hacking news, without their political views seeping in, then this podcast is not for you. It’s unfortunate that they choose to bring on the CEO of media matters to talk about misinformation, when media matters continually missinforms its readers from a far left viewpoint. it makes me question their judgment on other content they provide.

Icohen23Love it! Makes a difficult topic understandable!Adam, Beau and Travis do a great job of making a very scary topic approachable. Gives us cyber lessons learned through real-life stories. I particularly love the recent episode about online trackers stalking consumers!
-
SarjuhLove it!Good stuff.

Slish*This podcast is just ok.Low effort and only skims the surface of cybersecurity. I’m only writing this review because of “if you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all.” That’s now how reviews are suppose to work my dude. If you don’t want bad reviews, make a better show.
-
Tribal dadEntertaining and educationalAdam, Beau, and Travis do an amazing job taking the listener down the paths of what not to do and what to do in regards to cyber security and discovering more about information systems. I’m a network admin student and I learn so much from these three men every week. Plus….. I always get a giggle from their humor. Thanks guys for a great podcast. One of my favorites each week!! Dave McManis Devry university Network admin/information systems student (But I’m an old guy) lol

RickB68Amusing, I guessA goofy, low effort affair that’s filled with too many ads. They really stuff ‘em in there.

mtnmanbudA Great HelpWhat the Hack has help me keep my family and I safer in the world of cyber cat and mouse. Knowing what going on in this space helps me not take the bait that is set out for me. Thanks again Adam! This is an update. I believe this podcast has helped me identify a cat fishing attempt on me by showing me the red flags to look for.
-
BabboonometerFun - and Scary!Fun crew, but entertainment aside, it’s no laughing matter how exposed we all are. I can relate to many of the scenarios. The tips at the end of each episode are helpful. Quality show.

Robmartin3Funny but so uninformedI just heard the episode featuring Al Franken doing a senate hearing with Siri and Alexa. It was funny, but what puzzled me is the hosts added no serious content afterwards in their discussion. “I think I read…” “this one time this happened to a friend of my girlfriend…” “All the experts say there’s really no data privacy…” If you want a bunch of dudes sitting around riffing on what they think about data privacy with seemingly very little actual information, this might be the show for you. It would have been nice to present even a basic understanding of digital security and operational security with the paranoia. There are serious privacy and data sharing concerns with Alexa and Siri. Parody is a great attention getter. Too bad the only option provided was then just a bunch of bros sharing stereotypes and all throwing tantrums about how clicking on four menu buttons to turn off Siri is “nearly impossible” and “like finding a needle in a haystack.” It’s not that hard. And this podcast is not that useful.

BDS67The information you need to stay safe onlineI love this show. It helps explain some of the complex jargon and issues dealing with hacks in an easier to understand way with wit and humor. Each episode has something to learn from and you hear it straight from the victims themselves. If you want to learn how to keep yourself safe online, whether it be protecting your social media accounts, buying things online, renting property, or dating sites, this show has something for everyone.

Bigbootyyaknow5 starsHad the pleasure of meeting Adam once. Great guy with LOTS of knowledge on these subjects! Great podcast. I definitely recommend the listens. You don’t know what you don’t know!
-
MinecrafterflyersCould be a lot betterThis podcast has some really good points, but all of the extra banter and music/sound bits and sponsor breaks are too much to deal with. If I listen to this podcast I have to babysit the 'skip 15 seconds' button. All of these things ruin the flow of the story that's being told. I do appreciate how they add some humor and lightheartedness to a scary topic though.

Lola lolaAnn Cavoukian interview is a MUST listen for privacy prosYes I was fuzzy on zero sum too so thank you for clarifying. Ann’s story about her grandfather saving the family was wonderful. The Sandburg insights were stunning but good to know. I guess SS’s Lean In really whitewashed her sell everyone’s data approach. Great interview! Very insightful as well as inspiring. Thank you.
-
cheerfuldancerWay too much banter, not enough substanceThis show has the potential to be a supremely helpful show to those wanting to understand more about and protect themselves from cyber crime. But the hosts just won’t shut up! (Not Travis, though, he doesn’t babble on, ever.) Between the Dad humor, irrelevant chatter and unnecessary story telling, I’ve given up trying to fast forward through the junk and get to the meat of the matter. Sorry guys. You have a great idea here, and maybe some useful knowledge to share. But you bury it in a pile of yammering, which is a waste of everyone’s time.

APLTXReviewingI continue to enjoy this show and have learned sooo much. Please keep podcasting!

Platinum galGet to the pointThe information on this program is useful. The guests usually have insightful suggestions and experiences worth learning about. But the hosts are difficult to listen to their “intro“ Before they talk to a guest is mindless banter that is getting more obnoxious. This takes up more than a fourth of the shows time. I wish they would just get to the point. Addendum: The obnoxious intro by the hosts has finally gotten to me. I will learn about cyber security some other way and stop following the show.

Zachattack271665Overall good podcastThe show is good in my opinion. I’m huge in cybersecurity and a lot of episodes touch on that. But the two big things that I’m not a fan of is that Adam begs like a dog at least 3 times an episode for you to rate 5 stars and leave a review, which I’m doing one of those things. And that at least 7-8 times an episode, either the hosts or a quest will stop talking and random music will play for at least 20-25 seconds EVERY time before going back to them talking.

MegawattsmcdMeaningful MondaysI listen to WTH every Monday morning at the gym. Us gym rats use the hashtag #motivationmondays. I’m gonna play off that and call this #meaningfulmondays. In an era filled with much meaninglessness, I love listening to this podcast which actually has meaning! Not just personally, but for everyone (in our PC world: males, females, Non-binary, kids, teens, LGBTQ+, grandparents, singles, married, tech-saavy, and computer illiterate alike, rich, poor, and everyone else not mentioned). We are all potential victims of a scam(s) of some sort. It’s meaningful because Cybercrime does not discriminate. And it is happening. Everywhere. All the time. These 3 super-successful Cyber junkies (Adam, Beau, and Travis), each with their unique personalities and jokes, bring relevance, sanity, and laughter to a hard topic, in which much of the world is in denial it will ever happen to them. I love the IRL stories, of course. But, I really love the dynamic between these 3. You can feel their friendship, history, and connection through the microphone as they chat, joke, and give sound advice. Their IRL friendship is also meaningful, in a world full of fake friends and bots. WTH is a wonderful vibe - upbeat and easy to listen to. Thank you for making my Mondays meaningful.

TauromajaFireside Chats about all things CyberI really love this podcast. I work in retail, which can be unforgiving sometimes, so after work, I just need someone to let me know about crazy scams so that I can focus on something completely different from crazy people at work. I’ve even sent episodes off to friends to protect themselves (the crypto wallet episode). All three gentlemen are equipped with the dad-joke gene and they very much keep me grounded and informed, as well as just either laughing or groaning at a haha just gone wrong. I’m talking about them as if I’m talking about therapy and I do think of them as such. I’ll be sending around the gold ingots for your services, gentlemen. ;) Addendum (because I feel like I can write a better review so this is a second attempt): I work in a job that (di)stresses me to no end and steers me to question the fate of humanity on a daily, especially when I have people ask me what item does the sign “$19.99: Tops Only” refers to (is it the tops or the shorts?)? Save for being brained by a copper-bottomed kettle, I may have experienced it all (being kneecapped by a Corgi named Latte was probably one of the most pleasant sensations I’ve ever had the good fortune of being subjected to at that store). That said, I desperately need sane voices in my life. Enter “What the Hack?” I can’t tell you how Adam, Beau and Travis have been my mental glue on those dark days when I’ve run out of Zen and feel their voices digitise into sunshine and pour like liquid smiles into my ear canals. They explore hacks, the hackers and the hacked, with sound advice to boot, sprinkled with jokes and occasional stories about Kenneth the Bear (an actual bear who lives with/owns(?) Beau; a tractor is involved apparently). Everything from evolved Nigerian Prince scams to catfishing to pickpocketing NFT wallets is covered on this podcast. All I know is that for all people who hunt me down for the price of a shoe that is clearly marked on the box, there are even more insidious and silent burns that nearly render my exasperation with the world to a trivial, and worthy of obliviousness, matter. I say “nearly.” I’ll admit I can be petty. But I can live with it once tidbits from Adam’s intriguing past, Beau’s analytical questioning and Travis’ dulcet baritone challenge the cybercrime world. It’s as if a “Far Side” comic had come to life, cyber-donkey-kicked a hacker in the balls, then manhandled your broken face and put a big fat grin on it. In other words, an incredibly satisfying listen.

Nurse RobinfCrosses the Communication Line for Millennials to BoomersSo this lady is 60. I first heard of Adam Levins podcast on a podcast called Scamwow, of which I am a fan. Now I’m binge listening to This one. Communication amongst the age groups of Millennials and Boomers are like a glass of chocolate milk where the milk and the Nestles Quick aren’t blended enough and there’s a pile of chocolate goo at the bottom of the glass. Adam and his fellow podcasters have made the perfect glass of chocolate milk for me. The teaching he and his fellow podcasters give us asks questions I would ask, and they explain with the assumption that we can learn. Thank you again for all of the info you have given me, and for the way you’ve effectively communicated it.

papaerairmanGreat stuffPop rocks So recently I think my Roblox account got hacked.

SparklinpmpOne of the best podcasts out thereI LOVE this podcast series. Having been the victim of identity theft and cyber crimes, I can assure you the topics covered in 'What the Hack' can happen to anyone. There is something to learn in each episode. It's a must listen to in my opinion. #protectyourself #knowledgeispower #bettersafethansorry.

Desriee A.Fascinating and TerrifyingI found this podcast after having Adam on my podcast (Ask the Planner with Desiree Adams) to talk about wedding scams. I’ve binged several episodes so far and am equally fascinated and terrified at the same time. The hosts are a well-rounded group with different experiences who listen and provide feedback to their guest who has been the victim of some kind of breach, theft or attack. I’ve learned so much already about the different ways people (who are pretty informed or “with it” read: not total morons) find themselves prey to an attack. Also, the editing and sound effects are a nice touch and give it a well-produced vibe. I will definitely keep listening in order to pick up more tips and learn how to avoid being compromised. Subscribe and follow because you will be a target at some point, so you might as well know how to defend yourself!

Amanda - cyper clueInsightful, cautionary and entertaining!Let’s face it…we live in a cyber world! It’s a complex type of world with multiple dimensions because we can’t see it with our own eyes. This makes it almost impossible to even begin to understand the complexities of it let alone how important it is to protect yourself and your identity from the “invisible.” What the Hack is both insightful and entertaining. The real life accounts are relatable and sometimes shocking. The advice from the cyber professionals offer important insight in a cautionary yet entertaining way. Great podcast that also offers the occasional piece of useless but humorous trivia like….”What’s the only letter in English alphabet not used in the spelling of any of the 50 states? Answer - the letter Q

BJEonLFRListen, Laugh & Learn2nd time posting; first review didn’t show up… Adam and team - Keep up the singing and the bad puns in WTH. Great episode 2 weeks ago: really insightful deconstruction of an identity takeover. What to do to minimize being a victim and how to respond after you inevitably get hacked, scammed or phished. Keep ‘em coming.

merlinwatcherToo trueTo quote one of the hosts “Fascinating in a terrifying kind of way.”

Kev AEntertaining and enlighteningThis podcast is presented in a modality that allows the non-techno geek to follow the thread without even a modicum of confusion. And yet it is also presented in an entertaining enough manner that the more technologically advanced hominids can enjoy it as well. It’s fun. It’s informative. You should subscribe.

AT1004MehI found this show from a plug from Darknet Diaries, so thought I would give it a shot since it got a plug from such another amazing InfoSec podcast. The very first episode the podcasters interject their political beliefs in order to debate their cause as “Freedom Fighters.” It’s their show, so their prerogative. However, I use podcast like I do movies and TV, as a sense of escapism. If I want to watch politics on TV, then I’ll watch the news. Likewise, if I want to hear about politics, then I’ll seek out political or news podcasts. I assumed this podcast would be similar in nature to DD (scams, hacks, breaches, etc.) as a chance to escape the constant barrage of politics already crammed down the American citizens’ throats. C’est la vie.
-
smikgtreGreat, but could be so much betterI’ve enjoyed the show, but have to point out that all of the solutions are pretty much just common sense security practices. What I was hoping for was a deeper dive. For instance, an interview with someone in the FBI about how they handle hacks, or at least reporting scams. Or the FTC. On the catfish scam, is there any organization out there that looks into these situations or at least gathers the information for lookup by the next victim? With all the wealth of knowledge and experience of the group of presenters, you could do so much more. And I do enjoy the sound effects. And I could listen to Travis all night.

Star Shine SUNYGreat cyber nuggetsI teach IT and cyber security classes at a state university and i use these stories to start my Monday classes and they are a huge hit. Several students have been inspired to subscribe. Thank you for making a usually boring topic fun interesting and educational.
-
MiauxBerlinThank you!I found the podcast and listened to every episode this week. I learned a lot and followed every piece of advice. There’s so much I didn’t know about cyber security… and why would I? I’m non-tech, middle aged, average job. What do I know other than having complicated passwords? Thank you for this highly educational and entertaining podcast. Thank you also for eliminating those annoying sound effects from the early episodes.
-
Levy324Entertaining and EmpoweringI listened to the most recent What the Hack with Adam Levin episode. It was simultaneously entertaining and scary and I immediately changed my Instagram password. Hearing from smart, tech-savvy people who have been victimized is eye-opening. With so many opportunities for our privacy and treasures to be hijacked, I’ll be tuning in regularly to learn practical ways to defend myself and fight back!

Great for the cityTrue Crime meets everyday scams, cybercrimeA good listen. Mostly fun guests (except for Ed who sucked) and pretty funny. Good advice. Somethings a little corny, but great if you don’t mind dad humor with your cyber. Seems sort of unavoidable I guess? I recommend this pod.
