Agree with the hosts re: Israel and politics more generally, but the cover art bothers me… I feel weird about it- not to mention the visible pores & nose hair. Idk what it’s trying to say

While Jewish Currents is unabashedly progressive, the people who participate in the podcast have very different beliefs and backgrounds. It’s rare, and a pleasure, to hear podcast hosts disagree so much. Disagreements are always respectful and I leave with a lot to think about.

I love listening to your intelligent conversations. They are a lifeline and I learn so much. That last episode about secularism though, we don’t need to have them on again!!

Just the best! Episodes never fail to be nuanced, real, informative, wholesome, serious all at once - even when on a subject I don’t expect to be interested in. Y’all ask real questions, have actual disagreements, push eachother, AND don’t lose sight of the real-world implications of your conversations. Honestly such a breath of fresh air - that makes me crave intellectual and political and Jewish community and makes me feel optimistic about the left. Thank you.

I feel bad for these kids. They are talking themselves out of their own heritage. There are ways to be liberal and still be proud of your history and your peoplehood. Hopefully they will come around to that some day. In the meantime, they could use some more diverse viewpoints in their conversation. An echo chamber does not make an interesting conversation or existence.

This is a wonderful podcast. I’ve listened to the Naomi Klein interview on her book Doppelgänger and learned new things each time.

As a leftist Jew alienated from a lot of Jewish life, Jewish Currents and this podcast are a lifeline. Moreover, I think they do an amazing job framing their stories and analysis in a way that is accessible to non-Jews just trying to understand current issues surrounding American Jewry, Israel, and Palestine. Much love!

This in itself is hurtful to Jews and is antisemitic, not to mention a flat out lie and misinformation. In addition to trafficking in misinformation about the ongoing war, in their latest episode the hosts explored the merits of martyrdom in the name of protesting the war (which they without fail called a “genocide”). Yes. You heard that right. They used religion to justify, glorify and whitewash terrorism and suicide. This podcast is not only boring and poorly written. It is not only a lousy production. But it is dangerous and irresponsible. It presents a liability to every platform that hosts it. It constitutes hate speech against Jews (antisemitism) and incites violence. It is an embarrassment to the Podcasts app and a disgrace. Shame on the hosts for their behavior and shame on any platform that hosts it.

Smart thoughtful discussions that give a hopeful and realistic frame to the dark issues of our time

This is a great and necessary podcast. But the title and image pings so many antisemitic vibes, and I feel like isn’t helpful to the worthy cause of antizionism. For one thing, it immediately signals antisemitic tropes to listeners who would benefit from these thoughtful discussions. Perhaps a rebrand should be seriously considered…

A refreshing source of intelligent, compassionate Jewish commentary with diverse, well-researched, reputable guests. Worth a listen!

I appreciate having a podcast that helps move the Jewish left beyond Zionism, giving us possibilities of a future where we are free of victimhood and the myth of white security.

Consistently incisive, self-aware, inspired discussions for those of us trying to explore more deeply what it is to be on the Jewish left. I’m galvanized and moved by the episodes posted since October 7th (though I also appreciated the levity of many episodes prior). Pleased there’s space for it all in this excellent podcast.

I really appreciate the thoughts, perspectives and well thought out conversations that you are sharing. Please know that there are hearts in solidarity with you that are fighting for all humanity and oppressed peoples.

Yes, Israelis and Jews worldwide must live in peace. This is a human right we have to protect. And, yes, this includes Palestinians and Arab neighbors. As humans, we are capable of holding two different peoples in our hearts. In fact, we’re capable of making friends with and coexisting peacefully with many, many different cultures. So, when we’re pushed by ignorant and frightened bullies (bullies who are actually terrified of their human hearts) to retaliate with equal amounts of hatred, violence and fear — same as the ignorant and frightened bullies — we are allowing ourselves to be less than what we can be and what we’ve been taught and supported to be.

I really appreciate the perspective of those on the show. Definitely a well spent half hour of my life!

I’m a huge fan of this podcast. Smart, erudite, and endlessly thought provoking. Definitely a product of the Jewish millennial left, so every once in a while they have guests who sound like they’re wired for social media outrage. But on the whole, I am grateful that this podcast (and their publication) exists. Y’all make this Gen-Xer schep nachas!

This is the only Jewish podcast I subscribe to.

These are the hard-to-have conversations that Jews should be having at this time when violence is being done in our name.

This podcast is great. It’s very frank, thoughtful, nuanced, terrifying, and insightful. The hosts are brilliant, deep thinkers, sharing their experience and strength (tho not a whole lot of hope!).

These conversations are thoughtful and challenging. This podcast offers brilliant articulations of current issues in American Jewish life. Highly recommend!
