@steakandeggsHosts with the most“Just rate us 5 stars and call Eliza a Witch” - Eliza Sommers in the Charles VII episode. Love y’all deep ❤️
-
alioha14Love it!With any modicum of real power, Eliza would definitely be a tyrant.
-
dusorndywjMultitalentedNot only is this a great podcast, but also Eliza is a great aide in picking out proposal spots!

Us nmrkThe female cohost is incredibly difficult to listen toI really like the content and really wish that the female coast would not make strange sounds and interrupt the story that we’re trying to follow. She keeps making sounds and interrupts with non-meaningful sounds and vocalization. just say something when you have something to say please! I really wish that they would listen to the podcast themselves and make the adjustment because clearly it’s very distracting and unnecessary. Otherwise, this would be a five star

AngelasPOVEntertaining history!I’m a huge history person and I love learning about this who came before us while doing dishes, driving, etc. Battle Royale has helped me to learn more about French history and it’s also entertaining and funny! Definitely worth a listen.

SamMahonyGet rid of the chickHe is a awesome, she makes it almost unlistenable. I’m in 2022 and am about to bail bc of her annoying noises, it’s so distracting and juvenile. It’s sad bc he is really good

Steph2939Must-listen for French history loversVery thorough look into the monarchs and rulers from French history. My favorite history podcast to listen to period.

newmanmarsExcellent podcastThis podcast is a welcome addition. I love the combination of fact and humor and the hosts are perfect. Cannot recommend it too highly.

annafrommsnInformative *and* Entertaining!TL;DR — This podcast is presented is an informed, yet casual manner. Great for people with a sense of humor… or really, anyone who *isn’t* looking for a lecture-style presentation. *** This podcast is a must for English-speakers wanting to learn about French monarchs, but who don’t want to be bored to tears by a lecture-style presentation. While some reviewers do not seem to enjoy Ben & Eliza’s banter, I personally consider this to be a point of endearment; episodes are substantive, while remaining personal. Every time I tune in, it feels like I’m catching up with my favorite nerdy friends!

Eazy725Pretty solidA great podcast topic wise. What I enjoy most is the information presented and the pleasant storytelling nature of the pod, I think Ben does a very good job of that and leading the discussion overall. The interesting fun facts and such are amazing too and paint a more human light of those form the past. I certainly appreciate the effort put into researching these individuals and creating a script to explain enough about them so that the listener gets a good snapshot of their lives. Great cover art too! What saddens me first is the sound quality, which is noticeably lacking, but has improved. I also agree with some other comments that too much time is spent on joke worm holes and laughing, sometimes awkwardly, which harms the pace of the podcast. I enjoy the jokes, but too many make the episodes far too long for the amount of information presented in them. I think the hosts can/will get to the level of those on Rex Factor; smoother presentation, less laughing at own jokes, more informed/better follow up/clarification questions to the explainer, less random screams on the mic.

Iron FighterFantastic addition to the RexyPod familyA great addition to the ever-growing ranks of the Rexy Pods! Ben and Eliza are great and the subject matter is super interesting. 5/5 would absolutely recommend to any enjoyer of history podcasts!

JoesLunchTres bien!A fine addition to the Rexy-Pod Universe (RPU?)! I love that they started with the Merovingians and not Charlemagne, because all I knew about them before was Clovis, long hair, and The Matrix 2. Also looking forward to the Capetians!

Mevaugh2My favorite!Growing up my grandmother had a great obsession with everything French so I know today she’d be thrilled to know that I spend my days listening to this wonderful podcast recounting all the French monarchs. I’ve enjoyed listening to Ben and Eliza from day one and seeing the growth in their programming. Looking forward to more!

JehmagSo far, not so goodI love the idea of the podcast, but the delivery is difficult to listen to. The constant laughter from the host is really off putting and annoying. I’m hoping this is just nerves and with time it will end. Overall, I can’t say I love the podcast so far, but will continue listening with hopes things get better. Update-Sadly as time has gone on the podcast hasn’t gotten much better. Great potential, history and infortmation is good but the presentation is sorely lacking. The hosts spend so much time off topic and making jokes that the podcasts drag on way too long. It’s hard to stay interested with the dragging presention. I had high hopes but I think this will be the end of my listening

RyeGuy07Vive le Roi“This isn’t a great podcast yet, but it will be.” There is a lot of potential here and the delivery will continue to improve as the hosts find their rhythm. J’adore: -Wordpress site is great. Useful maps, family trees, portraits to help as you listen to the episodes. -Crossover episodes/special episodes on saints, for the tournament VIP box. Les Suggestions: -Reduce the amount of dead air time, and make edits/cuts to shorten lengthy episodes. -Nail those taglines/intros. Consider using prerecorded intros, incorporating more sounds/music, and/or reading from a script for those important recurring parts.

KrackablackaEntertainingThe History is solid. The jokes are funny and most importantly to this listener, Ben and Eliza genially seem like they are enjoying making the podcast. Have and will recommend

Deceased cattleMost ImprovedThe first couple episodes are a struggle to get through, the hosts are about as good as I would be if I started a podcast and are very nervous. Fortunately most the kings who they cover early are pointless and you could skip 4-8 if you felt like it. Fortunately, when the Merovingians begin the fade their nervous laughs fade too, resulting in a very listenable podcast by the time of Charlemagne. The source material will get much more interesting as time goes on as well. Hopefully 2022 will be their year to reach Totalus Factor levels of podcasting.

UtilityMaximizerTerrible audio quality, fair content. There is no excuse in 2021 for a new podcast to start with such terrible audio quality. Get each host an ATR 2100x USB, Samson q2u, or a Shure SM58 plugged into an audio interface, and job done. The content is OK. The hosts laugh at themselves too often (a classic sign of nerves; maybe they'll get better with time). Laugh at the other person's jokes, not your own! The Rex Factor-like format is a good idea. The topic is a good topic. The explainer (Benjamin Rome Clarke, in the Graham role) is thorough. I know it's hard to explain the various complicated relationships between people and places with strange names, but they will have to do a better job at that. It's OK to repeat that kind of information, and it's up to the other podcaster (Eliza Sommers, in the Ali role) to ask for that information to be repeated. Feign ignorance if necessary. There is potential here, but it will have to improve an enormous amount very quickly to keep me listening.
