    Free history and John Hopkins
    I mean. Come on….
  • Bea118
I love these podcasts. Very professional and educational. And, bonus, I love John Hopkins voice and manner of presenting the stories. ❤️
  • ThatOneGhostie
This is a great podcast to listen to while doing little things, such as painting, doing laundry, cleaning, etc. But don’t listen to it while doing homework. The soothing voice of John Hopkins and the appealing way he draws you into the story will distract you. 😂

    Missing a bit of information
How do you know about the last three robbers? Who were they? Who’s the Ulsterman/why don’t you know? It was the opening question of this episode

    Shows great, download horrible
I really enjoy each show put out by Noiser. I even had a subscription. The research is done, and the narrators are clear and easy to listen to. The problem I have has been downloading the shows. I subscribed, thinking this would solve the problem. It was the same. I run my podcasts through iTunes, and have never had this problem. When a show is shown to be available, it just buffers and never plays. I have tried for three days, in some cases. Currently, the show on Peaky Blinders, part 1, is not available since Sunday, when it showed in my app. If this problem could be solved, I would 5 star all the shows. I know this issue is with the shows, as I do not experience any problems with other shows.

    Paul McGann is the best
I love this and Real Dictators. But I wish Paul did all of the narrations he’s got a great voice and does drama very well, and it feels like the other narrators are trying to do character voices. More Paul please!

Thank you for the episodes on the queen
As an American I just wasn’t aware of the complexity and the deepness and the rich history of the queen of England. Now more than ever it matters. Thank you for such a great synopsis of her amazing life and a deeper insight into what the royal family is about and the importance of it throughout the world and specifically for all of Britain.

    Christmas Truce
Loved this episode. I must say the professor or whoever the woman was. She was just a horrible historian in my opinion. She just downplayed the truce and focused on the horrible results of the war.

    I love it
I really like everything Paul Mcgann makes. Keep on the great work Ps:Waiting for a short history of Spartacus :)

    Great content
The depth covered in these short history podcasts are amazing. I haven’t listened to one that has not been top notch even topics I wasn’t interested in. I have expanded to other Noiser podcasts and quality remains throughout those as well. Thanks and looking forward to next episode.

    There is no substitute.

    Bite-sized history at its best
Great storytelling, combined with interview snippets with subject-matter experts, a wide variety of topics, and a great host!

    Worth Subscribing
This is the only podcast I pay for other than Hardcore History. Tried many history podcasts, and this is the only one up to snuff with Dan Carlin, at least that I have found. Fantastic story telling, pace, and subtle but great effects are just enough to enrich the story but not distract. Great options between the various shows. Thanks Noisr, keep it up!

    What happened to Paul McGann?
Is Paul McGann reallly gone? I literally JUST became a subscriber to show support because his narration is incredible and now it appears he’s no longer host?

    Amazing Storytelling
This podcast I'd so well done and a absolute "must" for my long drives.
  • Kashmoney99
Why did they replace Paul McGann??
I love this podcast so much, and I love Paul McGann’s voice so much, so I’m extremely disappointed they replaced him as narrator. The podcast is still just as good as it’s always been, with great writing and research but I’m deeply saddened by the departure of Paul McGann. The new narrator tries but just can’t match the smooth calming voice of McGann.

These are compelling stories about intriguing characters in history, with great narration and background music. My favorite is episode 1 about Queen Elizabeth II.

    So good
This is a great history podcast. Good content and presentation. I love the narrators voice.

    Excellent history pod
Great writing, narration, and guest subject-matter experts. Its like having a long form essay read to you, with a non-excessive amount of SFX to build the atmosphere.
  • wrecdrctv
Absolutely amazing history podcast. There is nothing else to say.
Listen to this occasionally, I do love how it’s so straight to the point and doesn’t banter on-and-on about meaningless and irrelevant topics. The host is so perfect for the role of narrating such engaging events in history that it makes the episodes that seem least interesting.. interesting. The sound affects that seem so real and the amazing and well-done storytelling make the episodes immersive instead of some guy reading an article off the internet. Very cool concept and I look forward to a dinosaur-themed episode soon, thanks!
  • ThePandaMan61
    Great Podcast
This podcast is probably the best podcast ever! All of the stories are historically correct but it’s taught in a story-like way. Fantastic! Please keep making more episodes!

    Great prequel
We are heading to Pompeii in 2 weeks and the short history of Pompeii brought it alive for me …. Can’t wait to go and see it now😀

    My new favorite podcast!!
I started with the terra-cotta army. Although I have been to the site and read many, many books and articles the episode aged new light on this amazing archaeological site. I can’t wait to see what’s next !!
  • Pip12398073
I love this. Getting me re-interested in history every day. Fantastically done, excellent production, great cadence and Mr MacGregor is perfect for the narrator. Thank you.
  • matt1725
    Wow, just amazing!
I am not kidding, this is the best group of podcasts out there. It’s well produced, well narrated and overall, well put together. I can’t say enough about all of the Noiser podcasts, they have a fan for life.
  • Dmbiz4
    Great show, but horrible editing
I love everything about this podcast and other podcasts by Noiser. However, Noiser needs to fire their editor. The editing is so bad because the podcast skips around frequently, both forwards and backwards in time, often cutting off Paul McGann in mid-sentence. This is a constant problem with “short history of” podcast and also with “real dictators” podcast.

    Pay Wall?
Love the shows, but seriously? Putting content behind a subscription only? Unfollowed. lots of other great content out there. Don’t get greedy.
  • USAFSteve
Love learning about history, and the narrator voice is a bonus!
Just the perfect length of episodes to get into enough detail. Learning new things all the time listening to this entertaining podcast. The narrator's voice is outstanding!
  • Thor4524
    Love it
I would listen to Paul McGann give me a daily list of reasons why he doesn’t like me. The man has a voice made for this. Great info, well scripted, and like I said a pleasant voice.

I am contacting Apple since I saw no value in a subscription. There are no readily avaimeans to do from this app. AVOID THIS APP!

    Provocative Entertainment
Paul McGann, the host, could probably read the phone book and it would be enjoyable, but with great stories and well written material, this is one of the best History Shows you’ll be very happy to have found. Sure, you might think you know all these stories, but they are so well presented that you will still find them extremely interesting and even more importantly, entertaining.
  • Jwaynew
    Underground Railroad
In your episode of the underground railroad you mention John Brown’s raid in Harper’s Ferry. You have the date correct, but as that is the case your statement of where it occurs is incorrect. You stated it happened in the “slave state of West Virginia”. This is factually inaccurate. One, in 1859 Harper’s Ferry as with the rest of what is currently West Virginia was part of Virginia. West Virginia did not become a state until June 20th 1863. Two, while through the Emancipation Proclamation WV is recorded as a border state, it was never formally designated a “slave state” and in fact the number of slaves that may resided there is so nominal that it would be hard to classify it as such. However, at that time (1859) that portion of the state of Virginia, as with that state as a whole, yes it would be classified as such. I love these podcasts, but the ball was definitely dropped on that one.

    5 stars
One of the best history podcasts I’ve listened to. His voice is soothing - I like listening at night when I wind down. The Vikings episode A++++
  • el Boominator
    Great listening for your commute
The narrative is always engaging and narrator Paul McGann could make a list of soup ingredients sound dramatic and cool.
  • spideyparker202
    Well-researched, engrossing podcast w/ a caveat
Great narration, well-researched, and entertaining. Some of the episodes have an obvious slant, though. In the Rosa Parks episode, for example, one of the guests basically said white people need to “do better.” And the writers/producer/editors didn’t seem to refute that. Excuse me? Racism is not a one-way activity if you get my drift. It’s not just white people who are racist. And not all white people are racist.

    Fantastic minus the woke-isms
I have loved this show since its conception. Fantastic delivery of history. Love the experts that are peppered through the episodes. That being said, credibility is called into question when any hot button issues (aka “racism”) has some sort of “expert” sum up the episode at the end about how racism continues today, etc etc (See Rosa Parks or Underground Railroad episode). Doing this completely negates what was said throughout the entire episode and taints the accomplishments of those amazing people. Nix the woke-ology and stick to historical facts and it’s a fantastic podcast.
