What It Was Like

    Just found this!
Listened to the episode on Princess Di’s death and the paparazzi and just wow. This show makes you critical think whether you want to or not. Good stuff.

    Great podcast
Such a great podcast! Just listened to “My date with a serial killer.” Great interview… but wow was she arrogant. Sort of strange that she mentioned Donald Trump has no shame, but then held a transgender madam in high regard. I’m so sick of these woke weirdos. Other than that, loving the podcast!

    What about the mum????
I feel SO sorry for the Kiwi journalists! The kids went missing again and he had to take the 3hr drive that made him car sick - POOR man!!! Meanwhile the mother has lost her kids again - no mention of that!!!

    Blake Lively podcast
The interview I believe is so good at making us look at things through others people eyes. Not to say their actions are right but taking another look at why they do what they do.

I really really like this show
As the title says, I really really like this show. I find the various podcast topics intriguing. It isn’t just focused on murder, true crimes or super natural. For me it stops it from being boring this way. I like Julian’s interviewing style. He isn’t aggressive in his questions but is able to draw out the stories from his guests which some of them have been incredibly interesting and fascinating. Some of his guests I have never heard of before, yet it surprised me at first (not now) how I still enjoyed listening to the podcast even though it was not a famous person being interviewed. Lastly, why I really really enjoy “What It Was Like” is because of the questions that Julian asks. He doesn’t stick with the same old questions asked over and over again. To me his questions are thought provoking and inspiring. Keeps me interested. Reminiscent of Andrew Denton whose questions in his TV shows were also not run of the mill and I really enjoyed his shows too. Well done Julian and team. Double thumbs up from me. Keep up the great work.

I had to laugh. The first advertisement on this episode was Ryan Reynolds’ ad for Mint Mobile. That’s a kind of karma!

Famous People Back Slapping Celebrity Circles
Real People telling stories with a normal human Host! Finally! I am so tired of famous people having famous people on their podcast taking turns telling each other how great they are. So Boring & Fake. I want the grit of real people telling stories and this podcast delivers it. Thank you 🦋

    very entertaining
I’ve been scanning documents all week and flipping between podcasts trying to find something that will hold my attention to make the time go faster.Luckily I discovered your podcast and now I’m hooked! I’ve been listening to you non stop for 3 days now. I love your interview style. You know how to ask the right questions to get your guests to open up and then you let them talk! It’s quite a skill to know how to get the most of your guests. Thanks for your captivating and entertaining stories. I’m from the US- so all the stories from Australia are new to me.

Anyone willing to give up freedom for a false sense of peace, isn’t someone I want to listen to. Thanks for stating your position early in that episode, so I didn’t waste any more time listening.

A refreshing break from the usual
I love the fresh point of view this podcast takes. I find it amazing that we’ve not seen this style podcast before! We all wonder what it’s like to live through these wild lives/events and we finally get that with this podcast.

    Excellent - Something for everyone!
This podcast is so well done! It’s a series of unrelated interviews, and the narrator is well versed and gives a great introduction, synopsis as needed, then asks really good questions of the interview subject. Julian has a great voice and the audio is crisp and clear. Episodes don’t have to listened to in order, and the variety in subjects is so fascinating. There’s interviews with police, with the wife of a murderer, a woman who partook in s*x work, a blind man who manipulates the phone system, and so much more. Oh my gosh, the interviews they have are so neat!! This podcast is really such a good listen about the human experience. It’s opened my eyes and I’m so thrilled to see new episodes as they come out. There’s so many stories to tell, and hearing folks tell their story in their own words is incredibly powerful. Favorite podcast ❤️

    Listen here!
Interesting and fun content. Julian is a terrific interviewer/podcaster and if you are so inclined, there’s a perk of an Aussie accent to boot. 👍 to weekly episodes.

    Rate 5 but….one demanded.
Episode on Larry Demery needs to be deleted or updated. How’s Larry’s parole going these days? It’s not bc he’s a loser. No one looking to rob ppl at midnight at a budget motel as Larry says. Larry is a liar but given a free reign by this podcast he’s able to spin his innocence. Any discernible eye can see that Daniel Green is innocent and has been denied justice. Daniel Green is an innocent man and I was all for Larry until I researched just a bit further. A tiny bit. Free Daniel Green and this injustice.
