Let the guests finish their sentences
Overall I like this podcast. It provides very unique conversations about music in the atmosphere of a STEM university. The host’s ability to approach music via math and physics is very valuable. However, I wish the host could let the guests finish their own sentences when they were trying to search up the best descriptions of what they want to say. Oftentimes, the host would interject his answer/opinions in the very important pause of the conversations when the guests were tapping into their own sensing. It turned out that the conversations were truncated or distracted to a different direction. There are several instances in the interview with Kit Armstrong who was a multilingual genius speaking a little slowly but carefully in mandarin. When he paused, it didn’t mean he had no answer. He might be searching for appropriate wording in the sea of languages, which might be very enlightening to the audience. When the host volunteered his own answers several times in a row for Armstrong, it said something about the host’s level of listening. This podcast is still young. I have enjoyed it so far and had high hopes for it. However, I would suggest the host to respect that pause, that silence in between thoughts. A lot of musicians were very expressive with their music but not necessarily eloquent with their oral expression. The purpose of listening to these episodes, for me, is to experience thinking and sensing with musicians. The pauses in between words are tremendously important too because that’s part of these musicians’ crest and expressing journey. Keep up the good work. Best wishes for your podcast.
