    This podcast is LEGIT!!!
I have recently stumbled upon the Lorehounds when I was looking for a deeper dive into Dune Prophecy. I have been a huge fan of Dune since the 1984 Dune (David Lynch RIP). Not only do they cover Dune, Wheel Of Time, Rings of Power and so many others. I have so much content to listen to. The time and effort put into these shows is incredible, these people know the material inside and out and will give you so many different perspectives. I like how intelligent the conversation is but also keeping it fun with loads of humour.
  • CKreifels
    Great content!
Love the detail and knowledge they present, especially concerning the Tolkien and Star Trek episodes.

    Not terrible
This pod has gotten harder to listen to with Elysia getting super nit picky in their coverage of Dune Prophecy. Not that I entirely disagree with everything she says but it’s just not fun or interesting to listen to that much complaining. She also does this thing where she corrects every mispronunciation, gets hung up on every micro detail, and qualifies everything she says with verbose justifications. It’s super irritating. But I can’t take any one seriously who thinks that Amazon’s The Wheel of Time is a better show than Dune Prophecy anyway. In their coverage of The Rings of Power they speak with a Tolkien scholar and she is a total delight and makes me want to tune in for all things LoTR. So it’s really a mixed bag.

Elysia is smart. David lacks self awareness and has low IQ. listening to Dune Prophecy.
This podcast is such a trope and very impacted.

    Just ok
Just finished season 2 coverage of rings of power. And it confirmed to me that this isn’t a good podcast. Deleted immediately from my library. First off David acted in the wrap up pod like he loved the show. Nope. You didn’t. Listen to the first 4 episodes. You yourself said you didn’t like them. But hey the season is over so I might as well not be the only be that doesn’t like something so I’ll join the rest of you. That alone makes your opinion not mean anything. They are the only podcast I have found that seems to hate the Peter Jackson movies and this show for connecting itself to them. They are also the only podcast that is mad at the show for having the dark wizard be Saruman. I didn’t hear one other show feel that it’s Saruman likes these folks did. And last thing. The rolling of the r’s is outrageous. If she was my professor, I don’t care how much she knows, I would leave that class and drop it before the first class even ended. The people in the show don’t pronounce things this way. So guess what you don’t either. Talk like a human being. Not one person is impressed by this. Just overall a poor podcast for a show they claim to be lorehounds for. If you guys don’t like the movies. Than please start a book only podcast and leave the show for us. Oh and did you head. They have screeners. Screeners screeners screeners. Holy moly are they proud of themselves for this. So lame.

    She hasn’t watched the Sopranos?
    No respect

    Very negative podcast
You should stop watching the show

    Balanced and Detailed
Started following this podcast after they started doing their Rings of Power overviews. I haven’t read the Silmarillion in many years and these guys can really distill that lore down in nice bite sized and relevant chunks to give me that deeper context for that is being shown and refresh my memory. They also usually have a lore expert for that property and a more casual fan involved in any podcast that gives you a really balanced perspective for things. Marilyn’s addition to the show is lovely this season helping me with pronunciation and I love it.

The way, way over the top
Pronouncations and excessive R rolling are making this podcast unlistenable. Shame. Wish it was just David and John but have had to skip the ROP episodes.
  • Andy7567
    So much preamble
Generally good stuff, but you usually have to wade through or skip about 7 minutes of nonsense at the beginning of each episode. We don’t need to hear about your screeners, your show guides, or your backgrounds at the beginning of every single episode.

Excellent Discussion of The Rings of Power
It’s refreshing to hear a thoughtful, level-headed, non-snarky discussion of The Rings of Power, S2. There is actual analysis done about why certain adaptation choices are made rather than just reactions/opinions, and there is an ample amount of education going on about the lore. However, Marilyn, John, and David don’t require the show to follow the lore at every point in order to enjoy it. Highly recommended!
  • Sirena87
    Wonderful discussion
Essential listening on Rings of Power with many interesting insights on lore. Very positive, insightful hosts. (And I like the way the hosts pronounce the names with rolling Rs, as Tolkien intended. )
  • AMBarsa
    My fav lotr podcast!!
I absolutely love this podcast for ROP S2. John and David are great and each bring a different perspective, and the addition of Tolkien-scholar Marilyn just puts it head and shoulders above any other ROP show. I’m a little late but fully intending to do the seasons pass. Keep podcasting, the road goes ever on!
  • Caliworld11
    Mari-lyn’s pronunciation……
Love the show and the recaps, but when Mari-lyn is on she has to pronounce these already difficult places and names with this wild over the top way to pronounce these things, rather than just saying these names and places normally let’s put as much flare as possible on it and make it so unlistenable. Please ask her to just talk normally rather than some scholar who knows far more than us regular folk. Rolling the tongue on every name and place is exhausting and seriously takes you out of a normally great listening experience! Please David don’t start rolling your r’s too! Minute 27:50 of rings of power recap, please lord stop this madness!

Love the evolution of this network
I am a long time listener since day one and the development of your own network. I just want to say I love the variety of topics and the variety of voices. I love the different perspectives on Tolkien content to Marvel and everything in between and on the outskirts. I absolutely love the content and the representation from the variety of contributors. Keep up the great work. 👍🏾

Where the Nerds Find a Home
I came in when the newest Lord of the Rings; Rings of Power came out and fell in love with the type of people I could have talk at me about LOTR lore forever. Love the pod, usually come here for certain shows that I’m already into. (Unfortunately not much into Star Wars)

    Fantastic Podcast!
I absolutely the Lorehounds John and David! This is one of my favorite podcast for multiple reasons. I first found the podcast from their bald move parent company hosts Jim and Aron when they were speaking about trailers and stills of the then upcoming season of the Rings of Power. I am a longtime listener of Bald move dating back to the beginning of Game of Thrones, we don’t need to mention the ending. I have gone back and explored their many show feeds to include Breaking Bad and the Expanse. Jim and Aron spoke about the Lorehounds and their upcoming podcast setting up listeners to prep for Rings of Power. I am a movie only watcher of the lord of the rings and the hobbit, both of which I enjoyed much to everyone’s disagreement of the hobbit. I have not read any of Tolkien’s books. Having something else to prepare me for the Amazon show seemed intriguing. But holy smokes did their prep and knowledge of all things Tolkien blow me away! As a person who deals with anxiety and depression I often listen to podcasts for the tranquility of my mind but the soothing genuine sound of their voices added to calmness my mind needs most times. I have come to love this podcast, the positivity, their intense in-depth research and organization of the podcast, not just winging it. These 2 are great. And as the hosts say, I hope this review helps in the Apple algorithm that is behind closed doors and get into more ears.

    BEST Entertainment Guides
I have found some of my favorite books and tv series through this podcast! The hosts (including the wonder features of Elysia and Jean) are thoughtful, full of their own colorful opinions (in a good way!) and are lovely to listen to. They happen to review all the shows I love and any that I wasn’t planning to watch or read I immediately add to my list. Their insight has helped me enjoy and appreciate the things I love even more, whether it be them expanding the lore or talking about the production of a series. I have NEVER felt that they spoiled a show for me. Keep up the great work!

    Excellent pod
I tuned in from a link someone shared on the Foundation Reddit sub. The knowledge and critical thinking the guys share is fascinating. The questions they come up with are interesting and open new ideas about the show for exploration. This is my go to after the official podcast for the show because this adds additional depth and analysis that the official podcast doesn’t. Looking forward to checking out other episodes for other titles.

    More Le Guin please!
I was beyond thrilled to see the Lorehounds cover the Earthsea series. I’d love to hear them take on Left Hand of Darkness and the Dispossessed.

    Excellent pod!
it’s a pleasure to listen to David and John (and their guests), they are intelligent, funny, and also from different age groups, which makes for a great convo. The audio quality is excellent too.

    Wheel of Time and More
John and David are the core podcasters and they bring in so much good content and lore. Add Marilyn, Elysia, Jean, and others, and everything goes up. Highly recommend
  • Okiedokiedokey
    Gaia’s face
Love all the podcasts but especially this combo doing Secret Invasion. As to Varra not recognizing Gaia - even Talos didn’t know that was his daughter until she said so. This must be a new(ish) face since they started locking people up in a nuclear plant. I doubt Varra goes there as she’s deep under cover as a double agent (kinda). Keep up the good work and thanks for being in even when you’re out. It’s annoying when something is bad so podcasts just stop talking about it. We (listeners/fans) still want to process the episode, maybe especially when it’s disappointing. Thanks for all your thoughtful work!

    Mrs. Davis pod cast Brillant
Outstanding podcast that gave excellent contextual meaning to a wild show. Revealed aspects of historical a literary connections that I was unaware of. Loved the show, and had been surprised at how moving many scenes were. Will listen to more shows from the Hounds.

Started out as a Tolkien Podcast but now fails!
The original intent seemed like a Tolkien podcast. It has since branched out to a generic TV episodic show for whatever the hosts deem relevant. Bait and Switch Unsubscribe

Your One-Stop Shopping for Prestige TV, Gaming and Books Reviews!
I’ve been listening to David and John’s show since their Second Age primer that really helped me get the most out of “Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power”. I really enjoy their lore-based, methodological approach. Since then, this podcast helped me to discover new shows (“The Wheel of Time”, “The White Lotus”, “The Last of Us”) and new books (“The Wheel of Time”, “The Silmarillion”, “A Wizard of Earthsea”) that I probably would not have watched or read otherwise!
  • Davidb316
    Thise guys work hard!
I have loved almost everything they choose to cover I first found them covering Tolkien and was impressed by the deep knowledge and love for the work. Because they have earned my respect I listened to other covered shows and even watched a couple of shows I had not intended to, based on the opinions/recommendations. I also appreciate that they bring their personal experience to bear and banter about their “generational” gap. It enhances the discussion and really exposes a genuine friendship. Thanks guys, keep up the great work!
  • wa.matt
    Smart, relatable, expert duo
More than any other TV recap/reviewers, the Lorehounds’ voices fit into my head like a couple of old friends. Great for Tolkien, star wars, and the rest of the best content coming out these days.

    Deep Dive Done Right
For brevity’s sake, I’ll just say these guys do as good a job staying on topic and coherent in a deep dive structure as one could reasonably expect. Just a great show.
  • Tarth4Ever
    Perfect companion to great TV!
This podcast is the perfect companion to great TV. They have hit my sweet spot for my favorite television and taste. David and John respect their audience and bring knowledge and new insights to the shows they review.
  • Fugnus N. Feccione
    Unsolicited spoilers
I enjoyed the coverage of Lord Of The Rings content. But when they covered The Last of Us on HBO, they started spoiling unrelated shows left and right. They spoiled the end of I Am Legend for Pete’s sake. I unsubscribed at that point.
  • Brubeeboo
It’s what I was looking for!
I was so excited to find that the Lorehounds were sharing their knowledge for the premier of Rings of Power. I love the Ring trilogy and I wanted to have background and inside knowledge as I watched to new show. I loved the insight and critiques as I listened to each episode. It is so exciting to continue to listen as more shows that I watch are being covered. They have thoughtful commentary and information that enhances. They are careful to not ruin your experience and just enhance. Great Job!

    Superb!
The Bald Move guys are the best in the business. It’s no contest. And they have found an extraordinary pair to endorse with the Bald Move network brand. The Lorehounds are already 90%+ as good as Jim and A.Ron, and that is high praise. Smart, insightful, funny. Good production value. They don’t constantly say “like” and “um” like lesser hosts. They don’t drone on about nonsense. Just outstanding all around. I am thrilled to have found these dogs. Keep up the great work!
