Jess and Pily Present Our Bariatric Life podcast

Jess and Pily have been friends for the last 12 years. They have both struggled with their weight until Jess decided to make a decision that changed her life and recently PIly decided to make the same step in her life. Now they are documenting their journey in their bariatric life.

Jess under went gastric sleeve back in 2015 and traveled abroad to Mexico where she met Dr. Francisco Zavalza who forever changed her life. Jess reached a peak of 352 lbs. Jess reached a lowest of 181 with the sleeve and maintained for 5 years around 196-200 lbs.  During the summer of the pandemic, reached a peak of 218 in regain but getting back on track with physical activity and following the bariatric way of eating, reached a low of 189. However, her body always returned to where it feels 'comfortable' to the 196-200 lbs.   Six years after surgery, Jess developed severe GERD/Acid Reflux and was diagnosed with Esophagitis grade C. For this reason, Jess had her gastric sleeve converted to gastric bypass/RNY.

Like many woman, Pily struggled with her with weight. She has always been the yo-yo type of dieter, to lose small amounts of pounds only to regain it back plus more. When Jess had a gastric sleeve,  Pily realized that she had fertility issues, had sleep apnea, and considered to have high blood pressure. By age 42, Pily was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and was taking a daily dose of steroids to keep her mobile and active which brought her weight up to her highest weight 263 lbs. She had always wanted to have this surgery but because of financial reason it was not possible. In 2022, Pily's insurance announced that bariatric surgeries would be covered. In July 2022, Pily underwent gastric bypass with Dr. Erik Velazquez and is happily living her best bariatric life.
