Tim FactorPremier Tech JournalistSmart, lively and informative. Kara is always prepared and fearless in interviews. She’s never afraid to slay a few dragons!
-
peterseilWhat happened to Nayeema?!So strange that an integral part of the show just disappeared with zero explanation. The show is still okay but not as good without the amazing Nayeema :/
-
sterlingmarshelDecent when you muteThere are many incredible topics that Kara talks about with intelligence and candor. Having been an insider and Silicon Valley insider for so many years, she brings a special insight into each topic. Whats hard to listen to, is when she goes on rants about how great she is. She must feel very insecure that people don’t think enough of her. It can be very annoying and it disrupts the flow of the topics That’s where the mute button comes in handy.

backseatdrvryou’re not meanjust listen to one of your podcasts and you are not mean. You ask tough questions, and questions that are important and people interpret that as mean, that’s their problem. As you said, what did I ask that was mean, might have been uncomfortable, but it wasn’t me.

JHK-Listens2022Taylor Lorenz is beneath you KaraTaylor Lorenz is biased, uninformed and whiny.

SLomas8121Reed JobsLoved the episode with Reed Jobs. He was so very good at explaining things, making it easier to understand how cancer works and what is being worked on to treat it. Keep up the great work, Reed! Thank you, Kara!
-
sooooooooo dissapointedGreat interviewsTough fair and direct. Is there a better interviewer? One ding, she shouldn’t lie to her friend Don Lemon about his train wreck Musk interview. Lemon misunderstood and misstated Musk at every turn. Allowed Musk to seem thoughtful and logical in comparison.
-
NicholiosisEpisode with Margrethe VestegarWow, what a well-spoken and classy lady! Why do Americans, like the Silicon Valley guy, have to be so purposefully antagonistic? Her response was 🤌🏻 and insightful. We need more people in our government and running our tech companies like her. New role model for me as a woman. 🌟

Tanker57Kara is greatLove Kara and her podcast is always informative. I appreciate that she doesn’t banter with Nayima anymore. I thought I it was a waste of airtime.
-
odharkBring back Nayeema! This show is nothing without Nayeema challenging Kara at times. Kara is a horrible narcissist who is obsessed with her own greatness. This show needs someone who is not Kara. Nayeema brought the show down to earth from Kara’s gilded spaceship. Now she’s just running interviews with herself from her book tour. It’s incredibly dull.
-
AlleneInsufferableI’ll tune in when she has interesting guests but she’s such an awful interviewer and blows so many opportunities to have really interesting conversations. I’m done trying to like this pod. She’s snarky and entitled.
-
#####mmm######Time to make changesI started listening when it was Kara and Nayeema. I think it is better with just Kara, although the scripted intros feel clunky and overwritten. Sometimes the interview questions sound too scripted. I wonder about directions conversations could have gone in. Kara is at her best when she’s dialed in and off script. I wonder what the point of the show is, other than for Kara to have an interview show? Whcih makes sense because she’s a talent. I think she needs a new team or some fresh energy on this one. It just isn’t working as is, right now, in the way that Pivot is. I think for now I’ll probably skip this show unless I love the guest and stick with Pivot. Change is good.

Steve_in_RaleighKara’s Brag Book TourThis has turned into Kara’s book tour of bragging about her great interviews, her insight, her intellect and her accuracy at predicting the future. Yuck. Enough already. Get back to interviewing others. I hope we’re not subjected to all 20 of her “book interview events”. I’m going to skip them after listening to the first four.
-
TekkygalHow Did Kara Scoop Open AI episodeThis episode was excellent. Kara, you may have found Scott’s summer replacement :) the dynamic is excellent! Episode was super interesting and I will be ordering your book today.

hmsgusaSooo FrustratingI binged the Burn book. When I heard the start of it, I was going to toss it. I lean right. Instead I chose to listen to a bit to see how crazy She is. The book challenged many of my beliefs in a frustrating, intelligent way. You simply cannot deny intelligence when expressed so articulately. Where I don’t necessarily align with all that was written, it has nudged me to look much deeper at some of my beliefs. I appreciate her candor and unapologetic way of expressing her sincere and heart felt beliefs. I’ve recommended her book to several right leaning friends. Her voice should be amplified and the book gave enough bandwidth to hear her in context. I don’t think a sound bite could do that.

Jaw trackerRespect your guests / don’t talk behind their backs.Terrible host. Kara thinks she’s an expert in everything but has never produced anything of substance and her insights are extremely superficial. She’s insecure and boastful. The co host and Kara have the worst chemistry. Unlistenable. Re Walter Isaacson interview. Issacson seemed like such a decent gentleman and Kara was just kept constantly pushing her Elon hate agenda. In general, Don’t interview guests and then talk behind their backs afterwards in the debrief if they have a different view … shows lack of integrity and disrespect for the guests. Let the guests talk… they are the experts and it’s distracting to hear Kara’s constant interruptions which add no value. They did this to Oliver Stone and is an ongoing theme. Gonna stop listening

lisaks2019ExcellentLove this show. Also: Don McNeil how we’ve missed you.
-
nbsfmcThis show is still not goodThe guests are not interesting. The topics are repetitive. The one plus is they finally pulled the annoying producer. Now they need to work on the endless interruptions. Everything always comes back Kara knowing everyone first and needing to be right about everything, esp when she’s arguing both sides of the guest take, but in a way where she’s literally always right... What happened to Kara? She’s an excellent journalist. Miss the old shows where it was less about her as THE journalist and more about the news.
-
drlisa65Love KaraI live in Japan — I’m telling all my friends who are still in the states to read Burn Book—- why don’t they already know???
-
NtAngryJstDisappointedWhere in the world is NRThe appeal of this podcast is halved without Nayeema’s contribution. She provided a much-needed counterpoint to Kara’s boomer-esque, center-left, thoroughly unoriginal POV. Now the show is unchallenging and a total snooze.
-
AintWhatIUsedToBeAlways interesting.Kara does a great job interviewing interesting people.
-
KenVeeZeeMissing NayeemaGetting rid of the “just kidding” intro was a good move. Silencing Nayeema Raza was not. Such an intelligent insightful woman. She deserves her own podcast now that there isn’t room at the mic with Kara.
-
Reality_JunkieBring back NayeemaLove the show, Kara always has penetrating questions. I miss the pre- and post-interview conversation between Kara and Nayeema. It gave an “insider” perspective on the thoughts of the interviewer on the process and how the interview turned out. Wish Kara was still doing that!
-
awbauer194What happened to Nayeema?I really enjoy the show but I have to wonder 9as do so many others here); what happened to Nayeema? Also, maybe tone down the interrupting as well as minimizing comments that elevate yourself..
-
paloma saysI miss Nayeema.I thought she was a great addition to the beginning and ending of each podcast. I found her to be honest, thoughtful, intelligent and provocative. Can you give us a reason ?
-
Anthony DominaPLEASE FOND SO HUMILITY!Kara - for someone who is always banging the drum to support woman, why so condescending to Nayeema? She’s arguably one of the brightest, young voices out there. Smart, intelligent, thoughtful, warm and engaging……could that be the problem? Please don’t let that be the reason. You treat her that a. Jealously seems too trite. …….there’s room for both of you..,.pleas don’t tell me you are one of those women who are threatened by someone younger? That would be so disappointing coming from someone who is always preaching about supporting other women. Considering all the arrogance you display, constantly name dropping and being dismissive to someone who should have her own show (downy good ideas fir Nayeema’s show) Is this a time to reflect? Not sure you are the self critical type….bir food for thought. I’m sure you will just say “I must be stupid” like you say about a lot of people ….which btw, shouldn’t you have a more advanced vocabulary than simply using the word stupid so much. We have a 5 year old that we are teaching to not use that word. Actually, he only used it once.
-
Painter97WhiplashI’m a faithful listener of both Pivot and On. I would routinely get whiplash listening to how Kara treats Nayeema vs Scott. Not sure why she is no longer included on Podcast but hopefully she’s in a better place.
-
Hobbitses4hireFeedback AppliedI’m so glad she stopped being a complete AH to her producer Nayeema Raza every episode! If only Scott Galloway were as receptive to criticism!
-
Gay BillBig Fan of Show; Why No Nayeema On-Air??I have been a fan of Kara’s for eons and find every episode of this podcast to be “must listen”. I do feel not having Nayeema Raza on at the beginning and end of each episode since the beginning of 2024 has been a big loss. She added a great deal to each episode. I don’t recall any announcement about her no longer being on-air. I do hope she makes it back on-air soon.
-
MarkTheMovieNutKara is brilliantAnd an excellent interviewer. Also, she’s been around for a long time and has excellent access.
-
FSLC86AverageGlad Kara moved on from co-hosting with her producer Naeema who had the worst form of vocal fry ever. Truly hard to listen to. Kara has a hard time making a cohesive point. She’s intelligent and asks hard questions but she constantly interrupts and lacks eloquence. She also brags incessantly which is eye-roll-inducing. Had to unfollow after a long time listening.

Listening PatriotsJapanThis was a great episode !

John n KVision Pro and UnrealityKara, Love the show and your guests always. After watching these biblical level floods in California after a decade of scorching historic drought I’m starting to see all this “virtual” and “augmented “ tech as an ultimate psychological cultural escape mechanism larger than anything we’ve even conceived of before. Billions and billions are spent annually on new mechanisms to distract us and lead us into the utopian fake world of hypnotic infotainment. I’m especially concerned about the impact it’s having on young growing minds. It reminds me of those Japanese kids who never leave their rooms and play endless days of cyber games to help them escape the scary physical world out side. That is until they go crazy. Seems to me it won’t work. Kids will end up with this gear using it to watch endless hours of Netflix dystopia in a hyper real context where the content of future unreality merges with the present unreality. Zuckerberg’s cartoon universe of a plastic ecosystem and fake personalities is the perfect example. Now Apple wants in. I agree with Scott, who wants to work with big plastic ski goggles stuck to your face. How robotic. We should think a little more about using these tech industries to help us save what’s real, not create another super powerful alternate dystopia, or spend trillions setting up a mechanism to crash into Mars or put feedback loop chips in our brains. What 3D unreality is going to create is just one more, even more powerful system to put addictive commercial content into our brains. Might as well just splice a chip into the neocortex, it’s pretty much the same thing. Touch the grass while there is still some of it left. John Dean Atlanta

sujo0201For crying out loud Kara…STOP INTERRUPTING GUESTS!!! The only person you don’t really interrupt on a podcast is Scott (or you have worked together long enough that you have a better give-and-take with him). Please stop lying in wait, ready to pounce on every word a guest says. It’s an awful listening experience when you don’t let people finish thoughts (or even sentences).
-
Murat AkuyevMiss Nayeema!!!Bring back Nayeema! Miss her and how she occasionally pushes Kara. Kara, you remain the Queen of Tech Journo but Nayeema adds a lot to your content.
-
emeraldmorningHere for Kara - not for prof gKara is awesome and love her analysis and interviewing skills. Please Kara, you need to lose your giant dead cringe-y weight, Scott Galloway. He’s gone down a dark path of sexually harassing the audience and yourself, and you (and we) deserve better.

Drew in SeattleKeeping up w/the cool kids.Have enjoyed following Swisher since Sway at The NY Times where she built a reputation as a tough interviewer. Those days are gone. Swisher now seems more interested in maintaining her in with the cool (rich) kids and getting invited to the right parties. It’s not journalism. It’s always interesting to hear the perspectives of business and tech entrepreneurs, but in this iteration Swisher basically let’s them get away with free marketing of their brands. For example, where it comes to AI she let’s them get away the most banal bromides: ‘blah blah blah we won’t be eliminating jobs, we’ll be creating NEW jobs’ or ‘blah blah blah universal basic income’ or ‘blah blah blah tax the wealthy’. The old Kara Swisher would have held their feet to the fire and asked them for specifics. Ask them in what political universe any of these things would be possible. Ask them how they plan to support a political environment where these things could exist. Sadly, those days are gone. I still enjoy Swisher as a personality, which is why I wish she’d get her old mojo back. This show could provide a lot of value. But she’s clearly following the sirens song of wealth and popularity.

Interested bystanderSomething is wrong with soundYou might change microphones and engage a post-production editor.
-
Mcihael NYCEmpress has no clothesMystified by this woman’s career. She’s neither articulate nor intelligent. Just lame platitudes and an endless stream of obvious comments.
-
MonailsRazaPlease bring her back. Salient comments, questions Kara.
-
youreyellaImprovedThe show was enjoyable before, but it’s nice to hear Kara running the front-end of it solo now.
-
Chicago GayMissing Ms. RazaMs. Raza was a good foil for the over confident and older Swisher. We need to hear other view points and Kara needs her throne questioned more often. The bragging can get tiresome. Love this show as I learn a lot and hear from a variety of guests.
-
sbl130What happened to Nayeema?Love the show miss Nayeema.
-
click_to_rateGood ShowI enjoyed hearing from Nayeema and she will be missed. It might be good to hear more from the guests but I think the commentary between Kara and Nayeema added an important element.
-
ldiffyWhere’s Nayeema?Love the show but miss Nayeema’s perspective. Why is she gone with no mention? Concerned that so many ppl of color are being removed from positions under false pretenses rn.
-
MTrexcaCo-host?Evidently she is well-educated, but I don’t find that Nayeema adds any value to discussions on this podcast. In contrast to Scott Galloway who is a good match for Kara on Pivot, and whose perspective on issues always adds to my understanding.
-
NiccknamenottakenSo much better without NayeemaI was not fond of the sidekick’s analysis of the interviews and had stopped listening. I am back and so much happier without her banal commentary on the interviews. Five stars
-
brklngurlLove this show - Where’s NayeemaLong time fan of Kara - even have a copy of her AOL book. But am really missing Nayeema Raza. The banter at the front and back of the pod between her and Kara makes it pod THAT much more interesting.

Matt CKABCLong Time Listener, First Time ReviewerLove this podcast so much, and highly to my friends often. As a queer person, the episode Martina Navratilova really challenged beliefs that I held, and articulated things in a way that I had thought but couldn't articulate. Kara clearly disagreed with Martin, but I'm glad this conversation was had. These view points would've have been missed by cable media with their short interview windows
