I love this story! The narrator, a brilliant scientist and inventor, weaves a memoir of patient, single minded devotion to a work that leads the listener into territory both fascinating and terrifying. The voice, so logical and calm, speaks of things that many might prefer to keep secret, even in our present time. But diligently, step by step, the listener is drawn inexorably into this mysterious world inhabited by the scientist and her helpers living and working on the barest edge of acceptability and horror.
