John Hiatt has been my favorite musician since a friend put a cassette tape of Slow Turning in my hands. Since then his music has been the soundtrack of my life, soothing me through heartbreak, giving insight to the joys and fears of raising children, watching them leave the nest and many more milestones along the way. Sylvan and Jesse have made me think about and appreciate John's music in new ways by providing different perspectives on the lyrics and background on the band and production. Certainly John Hiatt is a musical treasure and I love exploring his songs in depth every week. Thanks Sylvan and Jesse for your efforts. Have a Little Faith.

Great podcast if you love John Hiatt! One of the most treasured songwriters in America. Only saw him live once (w/Lyle Lovett) but hope to again.

Jesse and Sylvan have a great time reliving the Hiatt catalog, and their enthusiasm for the man and his music is infectious. I sometimes agree and sometimes disagree with their interpretations and evaluations of the individual songs, but the podcast is always entertaining and thought-provoking.

Here’s an idea. Start a podcast and dissect every John Hiatt song he ever released (including with Little Village) in alphabetical order. Who has the time or gumption? Thankfully, Jesse and Sylvan do, the hosts of this informative and comprehensive deep, DEEP dive into the oeuvre of one of America’s greatest songwriters. Tune in and join the fun. For fans of John Hiatt in particular and all forms of roots music in general.

So glad there is now a podcast dedicated to John’s music

As one of the hosts of this podcast, I can only say that I intend to have a GREAT time with my brother in song Jesse Jackson. I've been a serious Hiatt fan since I was thirteen and one of the first questions I asked Jesse when we talked about a five-star scale for his songs, is "A one-star song is still good, because it's HIatt, right?" And to paraphrase his answer, if there isn't a one-star rating, you're not using a five-star scale. So, I imagine we are going to ruffle some feathers. I know a lot of people are anxios to talk about "Have a Little Faith in Me" and "Slow Turning", which are currently schedule for June 2024 and February 2027, respectively. We will figure out a way to incorporate a lot of fans of these classics. But, in the meantime, hope you'll discover some lesser known songs with us and enjoy the journey. There will be lots of trivia, lots of memories, and hopefully some spirited debate. Give us a try.
