Shari is healing my inner child
This podcast not only gives great advice on how to approach art-making, but it is healing my low income inner child by naming experiences I thought were unnamable. This podcast and her visual art shine a light on class, creativity, and capitalism.

Feels like talking with a new friend
Sari – I have been a fan of your work for a long time, and I preordered your book a few weeks ago, however I just found your podcast and I am loving it! I love that you are smart, down to earth, considerate, determined, kind and that you weave in your back story here and there. My story is similar to yours in some ways – mostly that I have been learning through a series of 100 day projects. I am getting better bit by bit. And I am learning a lot listening to you. Going to dip my toe in oil paints soon – feeling more confident since I recently listened to your podcast with Mary from Gamblin. Feel free to follow me on Insta – @AmyDeanArt. You’re awesome and I am a bit fan! Amy D. p.s. This is the first review I have ever left on a podcast!

    A breath of fresh air!
As an artist and art educator, I enjoy the variety of subjects and the choice of people Sari chooses to interview. Her interview questions are always really thoughtful and thought-provoking, and I appreciate that I can enjoy the podcast either when I am wanting to relax or be creatively inspired. One of my favorite things about Sari and her platform is that she is intentional about using her voice to create community and lift up other artists. Her show has an unpretentious, informative and comforting vibe that I have struggled to find in other art podcasts. Please keep on making the podcast! :)

A modern, informed, yet personal take on being an artist today
Sari brings her personal narrative, intelligence, curiosity and ability to connect all together in this fantastic podcast. She balances research and self-cultivated knowledge with her personal experiences as a working artist together to tackle topics such as social media and AI’s impact in art to overcoming adversity and poverty to pursue a creative career.

    Best podcast for Artists/introspective thinkers!
As an artist, I love hearing Sari’s perspective on a multitude of topics. But this podcast is more than just for visual artists, it’s for anyone who wants to challenge their thinking and learn about the world around us. A staple podcast for any listener! Highly recommend!! -Kayla B

Refreshing, encouraging, and full of life!
This podcast feels exactly like sitting down with your favorite art teacher after class to chat over a cup of coffee. I’ve learned so much from Sari already and I still feel like I need to go back and re-listen to all of the episodes (with a notebook this time!) so that I don’t miss any of her nuggets of artist wisdom. So many episodes have resonated with me, but the one that I’m most grateful for is the one about being a “Jack of all trades.” I absolutely LOVE that Sari took the time to a) explain the actual meaning of that idiom and b) explore the pros and cons of both sides of that coin. I loved hearing her perspective, and my fiancé and I have had multiple thought-provoking conversations that were sparked by that episode. Thank you, Sari! Wherever you are in your artist journey, this podcast will inspire and encourage you to make your best art, in your own way. I can’t wait for the next season! Rosie (IG: @scatterbrain.studios)

    Great podcast for artists
This is such a great podcast for artists that speaks about both the art and business sides of the art world in an accessible and sincere way. I started listening because of the excellent episode about the “beigeification” of childhood and now I’m hooked! @basilandwood

Just in time & just right
Sari I’m so excited that you’re stepping into the podcast space. I’ve always loved listening to your insights on Instagram and tiktok and found myself wishing there was a way to get them all to play in a row! I’m looking forward to putting this on each week as I push forward and establish a stronger practice. The first episode was encouraging and freeing- the right way to start the new year. Congrats & can’t wait for more! - @lisamaberry

    Fun art conversations
Update: 3 months later I still love it :) the quality has only gotten better. I just finished listening to “How To Make Being An Artist Work” and “Finding Your Style As A Producer vs Consumer”. I literally listen to both of them 2x so I could take notes. I love the conversation, it was something I didn’t get in art school. I enjoy listening every week! I appreciate Sari’s transparency and how she embraces her artistic quirks to create beautiful work and encourage others :) I found her on instagram through a high school art teacher I follow. It’s my first year teaching high school art and I’m prepping now to teach my students color mixing with Sari style disco balls! Thanks for making art so accessible!!! @saltyamberart

    A must listen for artists
I’ve been following Shari’s instagram page for years and never jumped quicker to listen to a podcast when she announced the first episode! I get so excited for new releases. Shari feels like a big sister and art mentor. The content she shares in these episodes is so valuable that I feel like I should be paying for it! This is a must listen podcast if you’re an artist. If you’re looking for a place to start, the episode titled “The Science Behind Inspiration” is one of my favorites. (@litsch.art)

Fabulous, Inspiring, Relatable, Down to Earth
One of the things I love most about everything Sari shares is how achievable and accessible she makes a career in the arts appear. She is a woman I can relate to, the way she presents information is down to earth, and it’s REAL. As a mother and artist myself (near Austin too!), I feel like I’m just a couple if years of disciplined work behind Sari, and I’m so thankful she’s started this podcast to broadcast more of what she’s learned and experienced to those of us striving alongside (and a bit behind!) her. I’m very happy she’s provided a wake to glide into. Thank you!!! @gena.destri

    Relatable and inspiring
I found Sari’s Instagram at just the right moment in my artistic career and am just thrilled she’s expanded into podcasting to go even deeper into the challenges and joys of being a working creative. As someone who has also always felt “flighty” but learned to commit to habits that move my work forward, her perspective on the discipline required by artists is so relatable. I also love her discussions around how our practice is received by the world, plagiarism, AI — so many relevant topics for today’s creatives. Thank you Sari, I hope to take your online courses someday and already feel like you’ve taught me so much. Xo Katie @raqueldesigncompany

Excellent podcast by an excellent human!
I loved and admired Sari’s work long before I ever met her, but now that I have, I can tell you that she really is just as thoughtful, generous, smart, and supportive and she comes across in these episodes. She is articulate and well-researched, and her presentation is always a joy to listen to. Every episode gives me something to ponder, which I appreciate!

    Genuine
It is so easy to be pushed or pulled into a direction that doesn’t align with the true expression of ourselves. Whether it be art or any other facet of life. I admire how you balance staying true to yourself while also remaining professional & growing your business. I find that it takes consistent mindfulness and moments of pause for me to balance the corporate energy that creeps into business with the honest, vulnerable, open side of who we are. You do it in a way that is real but also shows you are a serious artist, owning your career and changing the typical narratives. Thanks for your pointers, tips, and example. Your Instagram really carried my inspiration through the pandemic & slowly, but surely I’m getting there! I got a painting studio a few months ago & signed up for a street-art permit yesterday. 😝🌸 ✌️ @travelpaintcreate

    Outstanding podcast
As someone who is fairly new to painting as a business, I have had so many questions floating around in my head. Sari has answered so many of them within the first few episodes. She is so knowledgeable, articulate, and real! Much, much appreciation!! @mariabaileyart67

    Finding value in mistakes
Sari, you are doing an awesome job with the podcast. I really enjoyed today’s podcast about mistakes. I have learned so much from them myself, I love learning from artists like yourself that are so knowledgeable about artwork and all it’s many aspects. Thanks again Angelina Albury Art . @angelina_albury_art

Great pod for artists & creatives
I stumbled upon Sari on TikTok, then took one of her classes, and now I’ve followed her here. I’m so glad to have a place to listen to and think about creativity every week.

    This is my get-in-the-zone podcast!!
This is such a great podcast and Sari’s insights always get me in a reflective place where I’m relying inward as I create instead of outward. She helps me get into a mindset where I can easily fall into my flow state when I enter the studio for my precious 2 hours of toddler-free time here and there throughout the week. Looking forward to more content! - terina sciarrotta, @terinasart

    So excited for this podcast
I’ve been hoping Sari would start a podcast for a while and I’m beyond excited that she now has one! All of her advice is so applicable both to artists who are just starting out as well as people who have been in the field for years. I’m already subscribed and can’t wait for new episodes to come out!

So real, so honest, so helpful
I’ve listened to every episode since the start of this podcast series in early January. Sari brings helpful content in a sincere and interesting manner. She is incredibly articulate and isn’t afraid to handle more challenging topics in an honest, real but helpful manner and she is so darn encouraging. I’m really enjoying this series.

    Thoughtful and relevant!
I really enjoy Sari’s insight when she talks about her work and experience in social media so I really appreciate getting a chance to listen to her in this podcast format. I think she talks about a lot of issues that are relevant to female identifying artist especially emerging artist who are still figuring things out both artistically and business wise. Thanks for everything you do! @adrienneberklandart

    Grateful for this podcast!✨
I’ve been following Sari since I heard her speak with the Art Queens a couple years ago. Even as a collage artist, I’ve learned so much from her. I was excited for this podcast to launch and wanted to listen to a few before I left a note. It was exactly what I hoped it would be — thoughtful, educational, down to earth and great topics so far. Look forward to having this on rotation! Thanks Sari!⚡️

    Yes! Thank- You!
I absolutely love this - Sari, thank you for your honesty and for sharing your thoughts. I LOVE this quote- “ You can post bad art and live to see another day” 🤣🤣 This is similar to what I said to myself -something I did to avoid the perfectionism and just GET GOING! Allowing myself to “waste” paint by making mistakes and just doing it….And I also love your analogy to running. I had the same issue when my kids were little especially -I felt “guilty” being in the studio. Why? I didn’t feel as much guilt saying I needed to workout or see a friend…There is this pressure to rationalize your studio time- like if you are not rich and famous you should just stop 😓. We all have to start somewhere! Thank you for your constant inspiration !!! ❤️❤️ - @jennwallacecollinsart

    A great studio listen!
I always listen to podcasts while I am in my studio painting and naturally when I realized Sari was making a podcast, I added it to my repertoire of four-whole- podcasts in my collection! This was such a great listen, while I was painting, really insightful, and added some company to my fairly isolated practice! Great job! - Chloe @chloetorriart

    Strong Start!
Super excited to find your podcast. Really solid advice on copyright and inspiration takeaways for artists. And #4, sharing your experience- full of grit and grace. That says soooo so much about you and your passion for art. And yes, a really strong artist statement that is truly original. Can’t wait for more! Sarah 💛🍌

My new favorite art podcast 💗
I’ve followed Sari’s work as both an artist and teacher since I started painting over the pandemic. As a self-taught artist/mom, I find her very relatable and down to earth. This podcast is full of helpful information for navigating the art world. It’s not super prescriptive, like top 10 ways to grow your Instagram following… It’s more like chatting with a friend who is further down the success road but happy to share their experience. Thanks, Sari! @heyjaimes

    Copyright
Thank you for the podcasts! This one was especially helpful since I’m old school and not familiar w AI just basic copyright issues. Very scary! I will pass your podcast on to other artists. Best, @sallyevansfineart

    Love at first listen
Okay, we’re three or so episodes deep, but I’ve loved every one! I listen to a LOT of art-business type podcasts and this one is quality. Sari’s philosophical and practical thoughts on professional artistry serve more than just a few nuggets of wisdom, they inspire me to get stuff done every time. Jackie @jackiehansonart

    Great New Podcast for Artists
For someone so young, this Podcaster and artist has lived a lot of life and it shows in her maturity and wisdom. And in her art (Instagram). Wonderful first cast, my dear.

    Can’t get enough….
Sari speaks so eloquently about the artistic process and the depths of thought that goes into creating….whether it’s creating a beautiful painting or a beautiful LIFE. She knows her stuff so prolific artists or professors can be fed from her words but she’s also down-to-earth and relatable so the art world feels accessible to everyone! I’ve gotten so much out of her first two episodes and can’t wait for more from this podcast. Follow her everywhere to be inspired by her gorgeous work and heartfelt words! @AshleyQuamArt

Long time fan & love the pod!
I’ve been following Sari for years on ig and love all of her work! I was so excited when she announced this pod and am already such a big fan after just the first few episodes. In particular In Defense of Part Time Artists really resonated with me. Looking forward to more thoughtful, fun, inspiring content! ✨

    Many gems of wisdom

    Compassion for Creatives
I’m grateful that you spoke about our potential staying in our heads as perfectionism.. I’ve never thought about that before! I’m a recovering perfectionist myself and it was a hard truth I needed to hear. As I listened to this episode, I began prepping some canvas paper. I’m not sure what will happen on that canvas, but I’m more sure that it doesn’t matter. This year, I want to do what you said and practice allowing my mind & body to get used to making imperfect things. Thank you for making this podcast! And thank you for your compassionate heart! <3

Great podcast to kick off 2023
I can’t put into words how excited I am for this podcast! Sari is such a talented and thoughtful storyteller. Her artwork and video content was what drew me to her instagram and eventually led me to enroll in her art school. The first episode was fantastic and I’m looking forward to more. :)
  • Suphayhay
    Thoughtful & inspiring
I’ve been following Sari for years and she’s been an important guide in my art journey. I also grew up in poverty and it was difficult to find artists online who I related to, who I could see myself in. Sari has helped me question art norms, harness the power of long term consistency, and focus on process instead of perfection. Making bad art on purpose! This first episode was exactly what I needed to hear & I always enjoy what she has to say! Highly recommend this show and can’t wait to listen every week! :)
  • wynreb
    Helpful and encouraging!
I related with so much of what Sari shared on many levels. She has so many nuggets of information and encouragement i hope to tuck away and come back to. As an artist, teacher, mother of two busy little children, and a runner myself-her explanation of a creative practice was really helpful as I navigate continually growing my own, and balancing it with everything else. Highly recommend and can’t wait for more episodes! @RebeccaWyniaArt
