W. SweetloveA must listen!A must listen not only for Nashville songwriters, not only ALL songwriters, but for any creative that wants to find joy and thoughtfulness in their process, and to make sure they are making informed decisions about the business side of the art. I truly appreciate this.

Jody PritchardThere’s gold in the soupThis podcast is about more than songwriting - it tackles the business of being a creative human being. If creating & thriving lights you up, start from the first episode and dive in. Laura, Dr. Empathy (aka Tracy), Kevin and their guests generously share the secrets of how to thrive while doing what you love: Wellness feeds great craft. Their original intended audience might be a budding songwriter in Nashville, but the wisdom applies to all working creatives caring for themselves, their families, and their creative community. I'm a San Francisco working mother, design business owner, and late blooming songwriter. At my company we live by the phrase "Win at home, win at work. Win at work, win at home." This podcast captures the same spirit with wildly practical information and tips through relatable, vulnerable stories that would make Brene Brown stand up and cheer. The intersection of commerce and art doesn't have to feel so scary when there are trusted mentors like these three willing to share real-life experience for those getting started - even a 40-something with a life-sized pile of stories to share. Questions I still have though... What does it actually mean when you 'turn in’ a song ? Is it a voice recording on somebody's phone? Is it a written sheet, a draft produced version made that day? What does it look and sound like? Can you reuse part of a song that didn't get cut in a different co-write? PS: I was so moved by Laura's comment about leaving for work travel and modeling "I want to go" for her kiddos. I haven't heard another working mother say it in that way besides me and it meant so much to hear this.

Al GoughGreat PodcastGreat podcast. Super insightful. Found it a few weeks ago and have listened to almost every episode. Love your camaraderie . I am a screenwriter (and song writer fan) and find a lot of the same principals apply to both our industries.

TeeRGeeYou are on the insideThis is a great podcast to understand what it is like on the inside of the world of songwriting, producing, and the music business in general. They have a fun and playful style, but very informative with great guess. The only problem I have is that the host drops the F bomb about 100 times per podcast and it is completely unnecessary and only detracts from the podcast. It says it is clean, but if it’s clean, then I have a different concept of clean. I don’t need the bomb dropped all over the podcast. A couple of times for emphasis or humor does not bother me, but every couple of sentences is just too much. But that is just one man’s opinion.

caitlyanneIt’s a ‘Yes’ from MeWhat a perfect name for such an amazing podcast! Like soup, this podcast will leave you satisfied like a bowl of soup on a dark and dreary day. If you’re starving for industry insight, this podcast satisfies so many burning questions related to the songwriting world; even answering questions you maybe didnt even realize you had. Laura is the epitome of cozy in her conversational tone and overall inviting energy. Tracey is the ideal counterpart, providing the perfect blend of spices and quantitive qualities that is the ideal ying to the yang of Laura. I’m snuggled in and enjoying the buffet of back episodes with anticipation of all that is to come. Thank you!

Alyssa JeanetteThank you, Songwriter Soup!As an aspiring songwriter in Nashville I really look forward to Mondays and hearing the newest episode! It’s really nice to get some insight on ways to be a songwriter and the up and downs that may come with it along with the money/business side of it all. My favorite take away has been to focus on maintaining your peace/happiness, what you uniquely bring to a writing session and the value we hold as songwriters. Thank you, Laura, Tracy, Kevin and guests! Here’s a questions I have 1. What’s the best way to get your songs heard/to the right people after you have written a handful of good songs you believe in? And is having a full demo produced necessary?

BasdenChrisInspiring but Realistic—A New Kind of Industry PodcastThe hosts and producer emanate true love and enthusiasm for what they do, and the guests thus far have been so fun and inspiring to listen to. I get so juiced listening to these folks talk about the ups and downs of their corner(s) of the music industry.

Saints fan 9Can I give 10 stars?Coming up on a decade in radio, I’ve heard the songs that get airplay. I have love for all songs that are written. I appreciate the hard work that goes into writing songs. I’ve come to find out that songwriting is my passion. I want to chase that dream. I value the insight I’ve gotten so far & what the future episodes will bring my way. Thank you for doing this. Love the podcast & the knowledge it brings. -Tater in KC

WHYARENONAMESAVAILLove love love! You had me at Laura Veltz! As a huge fan of her writing, this podcast is the like the coffee chat every new songwriter needs without the awkwardly asking a famous songwriter for a coffee chat (listen to the podcast to find out why that’s a big no no). My biggest complaint is that this didn’t exist years ago when I moved to Nashville. Keep it coming, people!
